Description: Favourite track?
Stephen - June 1, 2004 01:32 PM (GMT)
I promise this will be the last album poll for a bit...
worthless recluse - June 1, 2004 04:04 PM (GMT)
:o Say it's not so! We still haven't done Fiend With a Violin, Live in Zagreb, Northern Attitude...
Oh I get it, :D we're moving on to the singles. My favourite song on Bingo Master's Breakout is Psycho Mafia. My favourite song on the It's the New Thing 7" is Various Times.
Martin - June 1, 2004 04:26 PM (GMT)
Hot aftershave Bop. You can even dance to it, or at least you can if you are me and your style of dancing is to dance around like a windmill or a whirling dervish. Have you ever seen these, by the way? Quite mesmerising...they're not just for tourists, they're for real Sufi muslem fanatics and the energy, the sheer trances they go into...wow! completely off the point, I know...in small Sudanese villages, I saw a fair few of these occasions, and I'm really glad I did.
worthless recluse - June 1, 2004 04:34 PM (GMT)
whirling dervishes, cool.
I voted for Pat trip, have always loved it. Hon. mentions for Lucifer, Mark'll Sink Us...
worthless recluse - June 1, 2004 04:35 PM (GMT)
...(having checked titles) Guest Informant & Entitled (what a lovely obscurity  )
Middle Class Rebel - June 1, 2004 04:42 PM (GMT)
I dont think this ones going to be a very CONCLUSIVE poll... lots of split votes at the minute...
generalist - June 1, 2004 11:10 PM (GMT)
lots of these make my compilations for travelling - lots of boppy, lift yr spirits stuff...
voted pat trip for clanging guitar bits & 'supermarket' MES yelp but love hot aftershave, sleep debt (the cod theatrical - 'pivot yer legs' bit has me in fits!!!! ), lucifer...... & on & on.....

Not as good as "Sleep Debt Snatches" though.
BikeBloke - June 3, 2004 09:42 AM (GMT)
Sleep Debt and Bormann were the best thing the Fall did around the time of the Frenz album in my opinion...
bezenby2 - June 3, 2004 09:47 AM (GMT)
Entitled is great so I voted for that...then I remembered Mark'll Sink Us
essenceoftong - June 3, 2004 10:10 AM (GMT)
no bulbs for me. great song. honourable mention for sleep debt snatchers though. just shows, fall b sides piss all over almost anyone else's a sides from a great height.
R. Totale - June 3, 2004 10:13 AM (GMT)
Entitled and Sleep Debt, oh and No Bulbs are stunning. But Auto Tech Pilot rules...
bezenby2 - June 3, 2004 10:23 AM (GMT)
...and Living Too Long...and Lucifer over Lancashire...I'll probably name a few more in a minute.
Stephen - June 29, 2004 08:55 AM (GMT)
Surprised no one's gone for the mighty Twister.

Or the mighty Petty Thief Lout.

Loads of gems on here you easily forget. Went for Australians in Europe cos it was always so good live. Makes me think of Neu now.

That's the one for me (as well as one other person before me, by the looks of things). As grey and gloomy as the TNSG cover art, which goes some way to explaining why I can't help but think of it as part of the album... that, and while I don't really agree with the scattering of singles tracks here and there on the CDs, it really fits very well after Nkroachment (Rollin' Dany right after that is a bit awkward, though). The organ right at the end is a masterstroke.
Good to see there's a vote for Clear Off! as well, that would've been my second choice.
Just noticed how old this thread/poll is... no matter.
Harry Lime - January 25, 2005 10:03 AM (GMT)
Better than the A sides imho

Splart did a great article about this song in the fanzine.

acid priest is like big new prinz and i like this song alot
Vvillager - January 25, 2005 10:19 PM (GMT)
One of my fave Fall albums. I never even knew that most of these tracks existed until I bought it, because I never buy singles. What a treat - 30-odd extra Fall tracks to listen to that year.
Voted for Pat Trip, my wife loves Lucifer Over Lancashire.
The Encrusted Green - January 25, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
One of their strongest albums. They saved a lot of their best stuff for the B-sides in the beggars years. I couldn't decide between Hot Aftershave Bop, Petty Thief Lout and Lucifer Over Lancashire.
"What I'm saying to you really is that the training that you must have in discussion, at your own level, regarding the existence of God is far greater than anyone that's calling you tonight."

Mark'll Sink Us
Was playing this again just yesterday. It's superb. Very dark lyrics.
freeranger - February 25, 2005 03:46 PM (GMT)
got his album last weekend and been listening to it all week. i voted hot aftershave bop - what a gem!! this is a really top drawer compilation, some great versions. was torn between pat-trip,entitled,sleep debt snatches and hot aftershave bop.
the living too long version is much better too.
damoncreed - March 16, 2005 07:36 AM (GMT)
Australians in Europe for me. I about crapped when I flipped over my Hit The North 12" and discovered that tune. Perhaps Hanley's finest and the way MES sneers out "get a whiff of that antipodean breeze..." puts it right over the top.
aangen - March 16, 2005 10:57 AM (GMT)
Fun, I got it right.
Australians in Europe.
But then, I heard it twice today.

That's for me, one of my favourite Fallsongs.
It was a crime to bury it alive like that.
It coulda been a contender...

Son of Temperance - April 20, 2005 05:41 PM (GMT)
pat-trip dispenses with me...one of the all-time best.

Stephen - March 3, 2006 08:36 AM (GMT)
Good to see this collection doing so well in the Fall Cup. Fans of Australians In Europe (currently winning) need to hear the 14/05/87 version from London Astoria.
Lucifer over Bedfordshire - March 3, 2006 08:31 PM (GMT)
Belatedly joining the vote - went for Sleep Debt Snatches, although Lucifer (obviously), Australians in Europe, Bormann and Sink Us could have swayed me.
imaglasgowmanmyself - March 3, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
what an album :applaud:
sleep debt snatches :applaud: :applaud:
A Worried Man - March 4, 2006 12:45 AM (GMT)
Also joining in late- No Bulbs- one of the very best.
czgibson - March 4, 2006 12:53 AM (GMT)
I'm struggling to find any crap tunes on the album. Vixen and Northerns in Europ I'm not too fond of, but they're all class in their own way. Went for the live version of Mark'll Sink Us - I reckon it's more atmospheric than the studio one.
daddyslittlegrandpa - March 8, 2006 11:22 AM (GMT)
Always been keen on Australians In Europe, and Entitled. Must dig it out as I haven't listened to it in a while.
Mere Pseud. - March 8, 2006 03:02 PM (GMT)
My favourite compilation (not counting the Peel box), far better than the A-sides collection and almost without fillers.
Today my choice is Auto Tech Pilot, but Australians In Europe, Entitled, Living Too Long, Lucifer Over Lancashire, Pat Trip Dispenser and Slang King 2 (zero votes?!) are also among the very best recordings from the Beggars Banquet years.
rainmaster - June 10, 2011 09:46 PM (GMT)
Better than the A sides comp.
My top 5 be:
Lucifer Over Lancs
Petty Theif Lout
Guest Informant
Living Too Long
Auto Tech Pilot
