Just pick Bristol - its the common sense choice.
Bristol are the true powerhouse of west country rugby and are beginning to discover the form that will see them claim a Euro cup or Premiership crown in the next two seasons.
Forget, Bath, they are still playing on a local park and living off a couple of glory years in the 1980's and for Gloucester - read noisey crowd but never won a thing recently!!

Amazing, also reminds me of some early season predictions in another code ... should we believe him, readers??

I'm surprised you got a rugby game Chase when you could have got the new Madden game.
Tell us how Wigan go on, cos that's local to us.

Newcastle Falcons are my local Rugby Union team but I like to see them do hopelessly.

National teams you want New Zealand. Club teams I expect Leinster or Leicester would be good bets. I have one of these games and I play with the team that has Jason Robinson as he is so fast.

You really should chose Sedgley Park. They're MES's hometown team (although interestingly they've never payed in Sedgley Park, but always a few miles away in Whitefield) and over the last few years have risen from being a small club to now play in the national league. Also, I played for them, albeit very briefly.
To be honest though Rugby Union is a bit of a girls game even though I used to play it. I don't know if such a thing exists, but you should seek out a Rugby League computer game and be the (no so) mighty Salford...

Yeah, the similarities are amazing. Mind you like most Spurs fans i was never into this whole ' we will walk into the top 4 this season brigade' the UK media was! especially after our weak midfield was not improved on in the close season but £16m was heaped on another centre forward

And even if they were, a name like 'Sedgely Park' doesnt quite strike fear into the hearts of the opposition.

I'm not reading too much into England's victory over Italy. The press over here wank on about how close they came to losing it, but England are notorious for taking their foot off the pedal when they're ahead. I'd be more concerned about the loss to Wales.
Frederick II - March 9, 2008 06:52 AM (GMT)
Bad weekend for English sport with their rugby team going down to Scotland, but the Welsh are over the moon. The big showdown in Paris next week should be a good 'un. I hope they do it - which would be a huge turn around from their form at the world cup.
Ooops, Wales and France meet at cardiff.

What's there to 'get'?
Gene Vincents Amphetamine Breath - March 10, 2008 10:31 AM (GMT)
I am over the moon. I agree what is to "get" over rugby? People tell me I don't "get" football, but I don't like it, is all.
A Worried Man - March 10, 2008 10:31 AM (GMT)
 Exactly. What is there?
Edit. Oops. Great minds think alike and all that.
Frederick II - March 16, 2008 06:19 AM (GMT)
Congrats Wales. :applaud: Big party in Cardiff I hear.
And what happened to Scotland? :(
Gene Vincents Amphetamine Breath - March 16, 2008 09:46 AM (GMT)
yeah I can imagine the newspaper headlines:
ENGLAND BEAT IRELAND
WALES WIN GRAND SLAM
Baz - March 16, 2008 09:47 AM (GMT)
Well done Wales, who fully deserved their Grand Slam. England have some thinking to do, Ireland are even worse off, and I think Italy will be a bit ahppier than Scotland.
So many questions to answer now...
Should Ashton stay?
Should Cipriani hold on to 12?
Should Eddie O'Sullivan stay?
Can Wales keep it up? (fnarr fnarr).

I really enjoyed the Wales game, full of excitement and drama. They are basically the Ospreys, so it's natural they play well as a team.
Being English it's odd but I prefer Wales. They seem like normal guys who would die for their country, full of pride, while England seem like a group of public school wankers and rather arrogant.
Didn't realise the Welsh captain was on Bristol City's books as a goalkeeper!
Also did you notice that not many of them shook prince fucking william's hand, don't blame them really. In particular James Hook gave a wide berth, might have been just accident.
Grog - March 17, 2008 10:55 AM (GMT)
The Welsh defence was fantastic on Saturday. It must be quite rare that a team has as much Possession as France had, and have so little to show for it at the end of the match. Also, Wales only conceeded two tries in their five matches, which goes a long way to explaining why they won the Grand Slam.
Tidy.
My Balloon - March 17, 2008 11:01 AM (GMT)
Yes, that's a record I think, just two tries. Big credit to Shaun Edwards I think.

You are having a laugh, league is de-cafe rugby, all the best bits taken out, like taking Smith outta The Fall
Come on Sale Sharks
Frederick II - May 25, 2008 10:00 AM (GMT)
So the Warratahs will face the Crsuaders in the Super14 final here next weekend. Personally, I dont think the 'tahs have got the firepower to beat us, but the ockers know how to step-up for the big game.
And congrats to Munster winning the Heinekin Cup - I suppose now they think they're in with a chance to beat the All Blacks later in the year for the 2nd time in their history!
lustsuglychild - May 25, 2008 03:51 PM (GMT)
God what is it about boys and balls
Frederick II - June 4, 2008 10:00 AM (GMT)
Anyone putting money on Ireland to win against the All Blacks this weekend? If I end up going to the game I should take a sign that says 'FOF' - u might catch a glimpse. ;)
Baz - June 4, 2008 10:33 AM (GMT)
I fear a mullering is in store for Ireland. However, it'll probably be less of a mullering than we (England) will get when it's our turn...
Frederick II - June 4, 2008 10:42 AM (GMT)
Yeah, the All Blacks are unbeatable when there's nothing at stake...

Oops, Ireland are playing in Welly - so I wont be going to that.
That's awright, coz it means we get an England game here in Chch and I'll try to get along to that on June 21. That'll be even better coz its much easier to hate the English than the Irish. :P
Frederick II - June 8, 2008 10:21 AM (GMT)
The crucial first try that the All Blacks scored came from a forward pass.
Good effort from the Irish.

Yeah I fancied it was forward too, and not one word have I heard about it.
The French throw a forward one at some stage last year though and all hell breaks loose in NZ! :banghead: :banghead:

That's coz Grant Nisbet, Tony Johnstone and Murray Mexted are friggin ijits. Nisbet is okay, but the other two wouldnt have a clue on how to comment intelligently about the game. Give me Chris Handy, Greg Martin or even Phil Kearns anyday over that useless trio. I always enjoy the aus commentary more.

Yeah it's disappointing innit, old Mexted was my hero when I was growing up as a young n impressionable no.8 - he was everything I modelled my game on. Well, him and Mark 'Cowboy' Shaw anyway - but he's turned out to be such a fuckwit it's quite distressing.
I like the SA commentators meself, they always get the Samoan and Tongan etc names right, where the ozzies don't even try :grrr:

Nah, seriously.
You, as a bit of a closet yourself with your Tame Iti stuff and wotnot, must get more than a bit pissed off when the ozzies bollocks up the pronunciation of yet another Maori or PI name surely?
The yarps always get it right :)
Frederick II - June 11, 2008 10:43 AM (GMT)
Their pronunciation might be perfect, but their commentary leaves a helluva lot to be desired.
At least we get a good laugh from the aussies trying to pronounce Tuitavake, Sivivatu, or Muliaina - and I think they get a laugh too.
