Title: Jesus and Mary Chain, Glasshouse, Pomona
Description: Reformation!

It's been 22 years since I saw 'The Mary Chain' last and last time they played for 20 minutes with their backs to the audience and there was a massive scrap in the crowd. As it is only just over an hour up the road to Pomona for me, I decided to drop in as they came out of retirement to rehearse their festival show to a sold out crowd of 800 at the Glasshouse last night. After a thorough roughing up of 'Never Understand' to open, things did get better. (This was not the case with support band The Icarus Line who were unflinchingly dire throughout their set). There was one false start but in general they got away with it I'd say. As I'm not a big fan of festivals I'm glad I went, but I can't help thinking they were better last time I saw them. Rose tinted glasses most likely.
Thumbs up again for the Glass House. A few upgrades to the facility since we saw the Fall there last year and a good sound last night. Melt Banana will play there on 19th May and we'll be having a family outing to that one. See you there noise fans.

Reading the review all I can say is that I thank the Lord I haven't heard this..

"Take a listen-- it helped scrape the Killers cover of Joy Division's "Shadowplay" we just heard out of our ears, and for that we're grateful."

No idea. There is a recording with a set list on Dime.

I've seen/heard two live Joy Division covers this year already.

First was that Killers cover of Shadowplay, which was absolutely appalling. I saw them perform ( ) it at Wembley Arena. However, they fortunately didn't do it at Nottingham the week after.

I then saw The Horrors do a cover of No Love Lost. They began their set with it, which was a surprise, but even more surprising was the fact it was actually quite good.

That cover of No Love Lost is great, I saw The Horrors open for JAMC and it was great

Reformation Post-JAMC. Hee.

Oh, please. It sounds like the Killers. I think it's a good reinterpretation of the song. It would have been worse if they'd mimicked the original.
