I won't re-do all of them, I promise...

Just like in the original poll I went for Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts.

I can recall that this choice evoked some extreme reactions. Most posters regarded the track either as the best or the worst song on the album. Let's see what happens this time.

Tough for me as this is my favourite album of all; but went for "If You See her.." as it's quite exquisite.

When I saw this I thought, did you forget it last time?

Even I know some of this one. I think.

few songs are as complete as Tangled up in blue.

I think I was one of those who voted for it then. Havenīt changed my mind...

Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts for me too. 2006 was the year I finally started appreciating Dylan's music. This album was the one that got me hooked, each track is a classic.

very hard to decide but it has to be TUIB when all is said and done. Beautiful melody and lyrics that just match it perfectly.
I remember when BOTT came out and it was like a massive revelation. people were REALLY into it. It was a big thing at the time.

lily rosemary and the jack of hearts

for the name alone even if the song wasnt brilliant as well

shelter from the storm. tightest songwriting. concise, affecting. the lines about old men with broken teeth stranded without love, and hilltop villages.

I also like the way he starts the last song of a gruelling album with "Twas in another lifetime". Like he's easing you out. It's a bit like the relief you get with From the Morning on Pink Moon

I also really like Up To Me, which is from the same sessions and for some insane reason was left off when Lily, etc. was included

.......... apart from Meet Me in the Morning, which I always feel compelled to skip.

"Lily, Rosemary..." and "Idiot Wind" are difficult to split. With a heavy heart I chose "Lily..."

This evening I listened to the New York Sessions bootleg. Not really sure which version I prefer. Just like with Country On The Click/The Real New Fall LP my ideal record would be a mixture of both.

Weakest by far, and sounds so out of place with it's suroundings...

As 'twas in another poll-time, I voted Shelter From The Storm.

... And don't you think You're A Big Girl Now sounds so much better on the bootleg version (and the Biograph triple CD set)?

alehousesophisticate - February 7, 2007 11:20 PM (GMT)
Idiot Wind, even if its got a rather over the top Dylan vocal style.

Shelter from the storm.

BOTT featured so heavily in my teens and most of my twenties that it's difficult to even articulate what it means to me. Depending on the day that's in it I could say that Shelter From The Storm, Idiot Wind, You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, or Tangled Up In Blue is my favourite track, today I'll say You're A Big Girl Now. I'll probably never vote for Meet Me In The Morning though.

This poll has prompted me to go and stick on my vinyl copy which I haven't played in years. :)

I bought this one months ago and I've listened to it twice through in that time. After first hearing Idiot Wind and Tangled on the Bootleg box I got incredibly excited by the thought of the album. Those song have so much feeling. This album, however, doesn't even approach that level of brilliance on first impressions.

I have since got hold of the original album mix and like that plenty.

I suppose I need to give it another go.

Also, and I know that this is beyond sinful, I prefer the Joan Baez version of Simple Twist of Fate from Diamonds and Rust.
