Description: Another poll for 8 people to vote in

Itchload - June 19, 2003 06:17 PM (GMT)
yeah

fallfandave - June 19, 2003 07:06 PM (GMT)
ddd....just cos this is me fave out of these....i dont really know how to measure how thoughtful they r

thom - June 19, 2003 10:50 PM (GMT)
with me alot of these were my favorite at one time or another over the years.
Had to vote for DDD though as standing up to test of time: great lyrics.
other stuff Rose etc: reminds me of my pre-acerbic years as a melancholic youth: that first girlfriend from Cornwall: can't bear it.

Im Frank: was touted as an instant classic by the NME i remember.

an interesting selection though.

DQuinn - June 19, 2003 10:56 PM (GMT)
living too late. one of my favorite Fall songs & definitely MES at his most “meditative”

richard - June 19, 2003 11:16 PM (GMT)
'Gentleman's Agreement'

richard - June 19, 2003 11:18 PM (GMT)
Voted for Edinburgh Man, really like Rose too

AdamG - June 19, 2003 11:23 PM (GMT)
Thank God.......I was begining to think that I would be the only vote for Edinburgh Man. :D

It should be either that or Disneys Dream Debased

Antler Heads+Tings - June 19, 2003 11:27 PM (GMT)
Can't split- Living too late and Disney's Dream Debased.
Both these tracks are just beautiful- it's tracks like these that make you happy you discovered the fall- who else has come close to these tracks in recent years- NOBODY that's who!
Lyrically/musically untouchable.

fallfandave - June 19, 2003 11:57 PM (GMT)
the thing i like about tracks by eccentric bands is when they stray into the mainstream...it is very beautiful

Doctor Horse Strikeforce - June 20, 2003 05:00 AM (GMT)
Living too late. One of my favourite Fall singles.

Conway - June 20, 2003 07:42 AM (GMT)
There's 8 votes, we can close the poll now! I woulda voted for Recovery Kit just to annoy Dave. :P But since it wasn't there I went for Iceland instead.

Change your signature and give us a sample of Recovery Kit!!

Bill Is Dead. MES getting all cuddly, which makes it seem a bit like a piss-take. Edinburgh Man comes close, too.

Oh yeah, and Gentleman's Agreement and Time Enough At Last get the nod, too. Beautiful guitars on the latter, it's like a Smiths spoof.

Well, I'm going to have to admit it sooner or later... I really like MES 'thoughtful'-type songs.

Itchload - June 20, 2003 10:10 AM (GMT)
ahh, I can't believe I forgot to include Time Enough at Last.

Sorry, missed this post earlier. I will tomorrow, I'm off to bed now. My 3 year old woke me at 2 last night and I ended up swapping beds with her cause she needed to sleep next to mum to settle her down. That was after about an hour and a half of her tossing and turning and keeping us all awake. And her bed ain't as comfy as mine - too soft! My back hurts.

Catch you tomorrow with Recovery Kit signature.

Doctor Horse Strikeforce - June 21, 2003 09:54 AM (GMT)
Thanks for that. By the time the bloody album comes out you'll have probably given us the whole thing.

An old poll to vote in with one of the weirdest and greatest names in Fall Forum history making a post...

She'll be 5 now...You see how this forum ages people...

I would add 'you haven't found it yet'. Iceland is best though.

usrlocal - June 16, 2005 11:50 PM (GMT)
Good poll. I voted for 'Living Too Late'.

I'd also add 'Feeling Numb' and (oddly?) 'Room To Live'.

Gaz - June 17, 2005 01:13 AM (GMT)
Went for DDD - Great track.

"I come and stand at your door" isent realy a MES relective moment though, with him not writing the words and all.... Sorry to go all Stranger there.

cupid's bullet - June 17, 2005 06:52 AM (GMT)
Bill Is Dead.

I like the fact that it's not overly sentimental, but has just the right amount of quiet reflection in it.

psychocandy - June 17, 2005 01:32 PM (GMT)
Bill is Dead. Honorary mentions to Rose and Van Plague?, one of the forgotten classics...

Dice Man - June 17, 2005 01:39 PM (GMT)
"Living too late" - without question. Second would be "Van Plague".

Stranger - June 17, 2005 05:18 PM (GMT)
I voted for Bill Is Dead, but Disney's Dream Debased is practically an equal favourite for me.

Other Fall songs come close to this criteria / bracket...Midwatch, Ed's Babe, The Mixer, Shiftwork, Service, Time Enough At Last, Craigness etc...

kiespijn - June 17, 2005 05:27 PM (GMT)
Crop-Dust -_-

Stranger - June 17, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
Considering MES puts a lot of thought into many of his lyrics, a hell of a lot of Fall songs could be argued to be 'thoughtful' ones...

kiespijn - June 17, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
but not necessarily meditative

Curious Yellow - June 18, 2005 03:22 AM (GMT)
The first part of 'bad news girl', as well.

chachacha - June 18, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
recovery kit or protein protection of recent

or i hate the country folk so much ;)

Martin - June 19, 2005 05:50 AM (GMT)
What is the difference between meditative and thoughful?

kiespijn - June 19, 2005 11:22 AM (GMT)
I'd say meditation is a form of thought: contemplative, ponderous, hypnotic guitar off cropdust :P ;
so 'thoughtful' includes 'meditative', but also times when your mind is speeding, appreciating whizz.bang stuff.
Maybe there is a power nap equivalent for meditation?
