last week's anothernicemess is still available from the peelacres link, featuring a support set by the Victoria Lucas when they played with the Nightingales in October. Not the tightest of gigs, but they were enjoying their last night on the tour..
I wasn't really taken by them at first, but their sound has definitely grown on me.

The Nightingales set is billed for broadcast tomorrow night.

Last night's 'Skues Collection' had an archive programme from the 80's looking back to the Kennedy Years - I didn't think it would be much, but proved to have it's own take on Life, the Universe and Everything.

i hope u get as far as the De Maskers track... this slice of Dutch freakbeat is far far ahead of its time, featuring, as it does...a guitar solo that sounds like the prison doors slamming shut in the opening credits of 'Porridge'.

However, I am trying to learn Portuguese so at the moment I'm listening to a not very good Portuguese radio station.

This is the longest of long shots, but if anyone knows a good Brazilian or Portuguse radio station that broadcasts on the net or even, I suppose, on shortwave, I'd love to know about it.

Well worthwhile persisting - as usual it takes a couple of songs to get to the treasures.

It seems the bbc have some kind of antipathy towards the show, I don't know why.

Go there, type in say (erm...), Band Of Susans, and that's it. Tons of their tracks will pop up ready to be streamed and slammed onto the recording device of your choice. Because it's streaming audio as opposed to MP3 there's no copyright infringement to worry about. Right, I'm off to find The Sluts!

I have started making cdr's of Bradx's programs so that I can listen in places like my car. the subscription is expensive, but I plan to continue at least for awhile.

His show doesn't have a mix of genres I would normally lissen to (I am a bit more of a rock and roller), but he really does seem to pick out the quality work in those dancey and trancey and dubby and reggaeish genres I usually don't pay much attention to. Any genre sounds good if you just stick to the quality songs -- that is why the show works!

I have been quite ill since Boxing Day and the Daily Show On Totally Radio certainly made the time pass more enjoyably.
