Well... there's The Fall doing 'Smile' on The Tube in '83 fer starters.

Stooges 1970 in Cincinatti is good.

And you'd like the clip of Count V's Psychotic Reaction. It's good for 60s stuff, isn't it? There's some Beefheart, Who, Kinks etc up there and I've nicked the clip of Yardbirds on Blow Up for my 60's club site.

EmCeeDeeJay - March 19, 2006 10:29 AM (GMT)
Didn't know about 'Psychotic Reaction'. Thanks for alerting me to it. Just found The Standells too - a very amusing clip of them doing 'Dirty Water'.

I also like the version of 'Cruiser's Creek' from the Tube.

Pretty goddamn funny.

EmCeeDeeJay - March 19, 2006 01:18 PM (GMT)
That Cramps clip is wonderful. Really good sound and picture quality too. I think this band may be the best One-Trick Pony in the business.

The Cramps: always the same and erm..always the same. But then why fix what isn't broken?

I just love YouTube; it seems to have become the internet's music video hoard. I discovered it thanks to Bagrec (I think) posting a link to Wire's Practice Makes Perfect, and I've basically been watching music videos since then...

Here's some stuff I've found:

The Fall doing Cab It Up from Kurious Oranj:

Cab It Up

And the video for Telephone Thing, which I hadn't seen before:

Telephone Thing

In other business, here's a clip of the Velvet Underground, set to the tune of Sunday Morning:

Sunday Morning

Jimi Hendrix doing a blinding version of Red House in Stockholm, 1969:

Red House

Frank Zappa & the Mothers playing King Kong (two drummers! Yay!):

King Kong

Here's the Ramones thrashing out Blitzkrieg Bop:

Blitzkrieg Bop

And finally, some totally out of control silliness, courtesy of the mighty Funkadelic:

Cosmic Slop

Check this one out. It's "only" a juggler with background music, but turn it up, watch it full screen, and tell me that's not pretty damn cool.

czgibson - March 19, 2006 03:57 PM (GMT)
That's great! That's one thing I've never been able to do, juggle. Don't really feel the need though, as long as there's folks around who can do it as well as Mr. Bliss.

More music:
Bob Marley - Get Up Stand Up
John Coltrane Quintet with Eric Dolphy - Impressions
Can - Paperhouse
Django Reinhardt - J'Attendrai
Kraftwerk - The Robots
Soft Machine - Facelift
DJ Shadow - Organ Donor

There are some real nuggets on here! particularly loved seeing "The Who" in b&w live at the marquee doing "So sad about us" and a promo for "The Saints" "I'm Stranded" neither of which I had come across before. Are these clips downloadable as im a bit technically challenged, like?

Bagrec - March 20, 2006 09:08 AM (GMT)
I can't access YouTube at work, (which is probably just as well as I'd never get anything done), and so can't give direct links, but if you're interested put "bagrec" into search then check my "favourites"- you'll find stuff like
"Un Chien Andalou" (complete)
Maya Deren's amazing "Meshes of the Afternoon"
Shorts by David Lynch and Kenneth Anger, Residents videos and much else.

It's an extraordinary resource!

Hell yeah! One of the things I remember most from my single viewing of Urgh! was how long it'd take before Lux's pants fell off completely.. :D

Nice one for Wanda too, been listening to her lately.

Well, after seeing some of these, I've finally signed up to it. My wife won't be happy, I'm going to be sat at the computer twice as much now. First time I've seen all of Telephone Thing.

LocoMac - December 13, 2006 01:04 AM (GMT)
If this gets number one for xmas:
ESKIMO DISCO 7-11

It might generate enough Pingu enthusiasm to have this re-released:

PINGU DANCE (previously released in Switzerland only) by David Hasselhoff!

Is all this penguin stuff designed to make people sick of penguins so they will welcome their inevitable extinction?
Or is David Hasselhoff (the man who reunited Germany) the man to sort out Iraq?

That's great for many reasons, but best of all the crappy discussions that follow it.
Thanks.

Bukowski really is the man........ I always thought that MES was the Bukowski of Manchester..... The real thing...... a man who knows the streets... who is the streets and closer to reality that many other supposed artists....... you can see the glory and the struggle etched into the lines of their wise old faces....... a beautiful man........
