Description: they r good as gold
Conway - May 24, 2003 11:08 AM (GMT)
These things already exist! The
MES filter turns everday speech into MES talk. And a synthesised MES voice has been created and used on the Timekode single "Cheap Space Chant".
All true!

Well, he seems to do alright doesn't he?! Even now he's getting a bit old and craggy. Must be the groupie mentality thing for singers... do you find that Dave? ;)

maybe I, Ludicrous will write a song called 'My sister went out with mark e smith ' along these lines....to add to their current one ...'I've never been hit by mark e smith'...

whatever it was...open all hours is to blame
AdamG - May 21, 2003 06:47 AM (GMT)
this brings up an important topic. Since M.E.S has never reproduced, the long term future of the Fall could be in peril.
Many positions in the band can obviously be refilled an infinite number of times, but one persons replacement will be a little more tricky.
Unless one of Dave's children can be adequately trained in the many complicated nuances of a M.E.S performance, we will have to take drastic action to ensure that the Fall continues for hundreds or thousands of years to come.
The only way we can make the world a livable place for future generations is to CLONE MARK E. SMITH.
We will need to do some fundraising or embezzlement, but this crowd shouldn't have a problem with that.
Then all we will need is some appropriate genetic material from his body that contains his DNA codes.
If we sucseed in producing an infant M.E.S in the next few years, it should be the correct age for 1977 era Fall performance by the time Mark#1 retires.
Eventually the cycle will have to repeat itself.
the Bromwich children can then fill the musician roles as Dave sees fit.
c'mon, I know there has to be some Fall Fan Scientists on here :ph43r:
01mimi - May 19, 2003 06:36 AM (GMT)
why not train them up as a mini Fall tribute band ?
01mimi - May 23, 2003 06:34 PM (GMT)
rofl @ this.
another alternative might be to create an AI version. you could scan in all of the existing lyrics so the computer would randomly generate MES-style writing. then get a voice sample which would teach it to shriek at the appropriate intervals. come to think of it, we could get haley joel osmett, implant the computer into his brain, then feed him amphetamines.
01mimi - May 24, 2003 02:27 PM (GMT)
no WAY. thats evil. this adds fuel to my theory tho, that although MES is an astounding artist of brilliant intellect etc etc, he just isnt a nice person to be around ? the constant outpouring of scorn and bile which makes his writing and singing so great, must surely mean he`s like a nightmare to be around. beatings and occasionally being thrown up on notwithstanding. he seems like a very complex, critical person.
this should probly be a separate thread, but do any of you guys think he`s actually a genius, like picasso or something ? i dunno what i think really.

yeh, i reckon its the groupie thing too. also he must have alot of charisma or something like that. i dont personally think he`s attractive tho. for me the Fall are sort of like, how would you say... like the opposite of all that bizness. you know like some films you can watch them and you know nothing cheesy, romantic or embarrasing is going to happen. its just a cool film. they are like that i think. it kind of makes it more personal in a way. like my bf is into black metal and stuff. he doesnt like the Fall. i think MES has got a kind of twisted, insightful perception into things. like if you went out with him or whatever, imagine what he would be thinking about it !! he would probably (probabobabably) be thinking of a nasty song about it the whole time.
01mimi - May 26, 2003 07:52 PM (GMT)
if i ever met him, i would just barf out of nervousness. or be too intimidated to speak. right i have got a good system going now. 1. do stuff. 2. drink tea, read this. 3. repeat steps 1-3.

Wretched Timesheeter - May 21, 2003 10:39 PM (GMT)
I was thinking about this the other day, actually. We could even clone some sort of hideous replica of Craig Scanlon and Steve Hanley as one person to keep the early fans interested - 'Shanlon'. Or something.
QTarquin - June 13, 2003 08:58 PM (GMT)
how do you know he's not a nice person to be around
when I've seen him he was ok
he's like everybody else really but in a good band
he has good days and bad days
so fucking what

he's not friendly ...he admits that much...he has a sense of humour....but it tends to be hard n hurtful a lot of time...it has its strengths and weaknesses
01mimi - June 14, 2003 10:12 PM (GMT)
ah ha. the data available seems to suggest that he`s
- violent
- critical
- addicted to speed
- very perceptive
- callous
- drunk alot
- a workaholic
- sacks people frequently
i dont know many people like this so i couldnt tell you if they are pleasant to be around or not. my guess would veer towards not.
