Title: The Samurai Seven
Description: R.I.P. (well, sort of...)

I just got an e-mail from The Samurai Seven saying that they are no more.

Except they're still going. They've changed their name to The Dirty Royals. Apparently this is because they're going to spend some time in China and using the word 'Samurai' out of context can cause offence. I think there could be another reason personally... I think it's a Ruth/45s style change of name where it's done because they haven't achieved the success they deserved and they know that a name without success is like mud sticking where the music press is concerned. That would explain the other part of the e-mail about 'ongoing musical development'...

So anyhow... there you go. How bizarre.

Yeah I picked up the letter from my other place today. Bit of a shocker. It's gonna take some getting used to the new name. I suppose I can now say that I never saw The Samurai Seven live and never will! :(

Anyone who owns "Le Sport" might notice something uncanny about one of the tracks on there...

All 4 tunes are excellent, as expected. I think they wrote the Obsessed America lyrics for the US shows and should be on the new EP. Especially liking CIA - quality tune!

I checked with them (as you do). You are indeed correct!

Dirty Royals gigs next month. I am unfeasibly excited by this!
See their MySpace... Anyone fancy it?

Good to hear they're back in action! It's been a good week for bands I like coming back... Clearlake's return is imminent too (in fact they're supporting Death Cab For Cutie in London on May 6...)
