Title: Blagging

psycho_phil - September 18, 2003 05:22 PM (GMT)
being involved with my uni student radio station ( http://www.1287am.com/ check it out people!) i have prevoiusly managed to get on guestlists for gigs. d'ya reckon there's any chance of this happening for this gig? also any chance of us getting an interview with the band? is there any promotions/management type person, or is JB doing all that himself?
if anyone has any info, either reply here, or u can e-mail me philg@1287am.com and i can pass that onto the head of music, and she can sort something out...
if not, then obviously i would be willing to pay to get in, i was just thinking:
a) it would be nice if we could give them some on-air publicity
B) if i have a guest-list place with a plus one i'm less likely to have to travel to the gig on my ownsome, and
c) well, being a student, might as well try and blag it....

cheers x

Your best bet would be to email James Broad and see what he says, don't think he'll be around for a week or two though so don't be suprised if you don't hear back right away. good luck!

Anything's worth a try, surely!

When I was at uni (too many depressing years ago to count!), a mate of mine was station manager/DJ and sometimes got to meet semi-famous people, usually if they were playing at Rock City. My favourite story is largely unrepeatable, but involves a lot of homebrewed cherry brandy, a large amount of cheap pornography, and Clint Boon from the Inspiral Carpets... B)

I met the drummer from the Inspiral Carpets in 1995 in a pub (I went to Manchester University). He was a fool. Recently, he's become a friend of my sister-in-law after they studied together on a course. He had to quit when their reformation took off. You would hope he had grown up, but no... recently at a gig in Manchester he wore a Saddam Hussein mask and got beaten up on stage, then performing on a Welsh show called The Pop Factory he slouched over his kit and took the mick out of the Feeder drummer that died. Hmmm.

PS. Buy a ticket! Only £7! What if it sells out and you can't get on the list?

Getting on guest lists is hit & miss, pends who you know & if sometimes websites to giveaways.

I got bad habits between 1998 - 2000 winning too much on XFM that I had to use over 16 different names & 20 different addresses.

One time I bought XFM to a 'Stand Still' for 2hrs cause they thought I was Maurice Gibb (RIP) from the Bee Gees...............I'm a huge Bee Gees fan!

Though get a ticket for 7 squid & support the band!!! ;)
