Title: The Tour!

psycho_phil - April 27, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
EDIT: Have merged the 3 tour topics into this one to make it easier to keep track of everything.. Cheers, Ste :)

Thought as since the gigs are getting close, it would make sense for each date to have its own thread, and thought I'd start a London one, since that's where I'm going. Yes, have finally found cover for work that evening, and purchased myself a ticket. Not sure as yet whether I'll be able to drag any of my mates up as well or not, or if I'll be going on my own, but would be good to see people off the board there.

Also, any news on support acts?

Damian - April 27, 2005 11:38 PM (GMT)
LONDON:

No idea about London supports - there's stuff on one of the Nottingham supports in another thread - a band called Swound! (including the exclamation mark)

The more of us that meet up the merrier...

Philonski - April 28, 2005 07:40 AM (GMT)
LONDON:

There's a pub over the road called The willy - right by the station, you can't miss it. That's probably the most sensible place to meet up before the doors open. Let's do the usual "what are you wearing?" thing a couple of days before.

Edit: Oh for heaven's sake! The pub is NOT called The Willy!!!! Fupping stupid swear filter!

Damian - April 28, 2005 07:42 AM (GMT)
LONDON:

It would be funny if it was called The Willy. Have another go...

Philonski - April 28, 2005 07:53 AM (GMT)
LONDON:
The C
o
c
k
.

When you come out of the tube/train station, it's immediately on your right, just past the chip van, a police car and the people having an argument about drugs.

psycho_phil - April 28, 2005 10:30 AM (GMT)
LONDON:

haha, that brought some amusement to my Thursday morning. I thought The Willy was a bit of an odd name for a pub when I read it, but just though maybe it was Cockney rhyming slang or something...
Anyway, meeting in the Cocck sounds good to me, I shall plan my outfit :)

Bone Idle - April 29, 2005 06:58 PM (GMT)
LONDON:

I'll be there! Went to the Astoria booking office to get my tickets (owing to my refusal to use See tickets ever again) at lunchtime.

Will people be drinking willytails?

[edit]

That just looks stupid.

shed_jish - May 2, 2005 09:33 AM (GMT)
NOTTINGHAM:

i don't have any waiting around to do, but if some of you are going to be there early, that would be the best place to meet, i think.

EDIT - if you're going to nottingham, then get to the horn in hand beforehand. woo!

Philonski - May 2, 2005 06:09 PM (GMT)
LONDON:

Am not used to deciding what to wear in advance. Eenie meenie miney mo...

OK, I'll be wearing a light blue t-shirt with a picture of riot police on it and a navy (and turquoise) zip-up top if it's not boiling. At least one of the people I'm with will be bald (well, already is) and I'll be with Damian and his artistic friend too. Am planning to be at The Cocck (or The Famous Cocck as theJon says it's called) by about 6:45. Come and say hello!

psycho_phil - May 2, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
LONDON:

I shall be wearing navy blue (nigh-on black) t-shirt which proclaims the message 'Don't Say No To Disco', and most likely, as beige jacket which is designed to look as if i've fallen in a prinitng press or something.
I will be all on my ownsome (sniff), due to the fact my friends don't appreciate the true wonder of Silver Sun, and most of them have revision to do. So if you spot me, please don't leave me sitting in the corner! (unless you're in a particularly evil frame of mind).
If Philonski's aiming to be in The Famous Cocck by 6.45 I shall aim to be there, say 7/7.30 ish? I have no great desire to be the first one there...
Hope to see you all soon!

Philonski - May 2, 2005 08:27 PM (GMT)
NOTTINGHAM:

I'm going, don't know what I'm wearing yet - will let you know when I've done some washing.

petester - May 2, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
NOTTINGHAM:

I'm going to the Nottingham one, with a couple of mates who like Silver Sun but don't post on here.

I think I'll be in my Neo Wave t-shirt, or perhaps my fupp Silver Sun one.

Dave S - May 2, 2005 09:52 PM (GMT)
LONDON / NOTTINGHAM:

Hi there,
Getting ready for the gig 2morrow as I type. Taking my Mrs who is also a fan and 2 friends who I have forced (they are looking forward to it though) (I'm sure that they will buy all 3 albums on wednesday after seeing the gig !!!.) Not sure what I'm wearing but will be near the front (ish) going ape! Taveling from Bristol so making a couple of days out of it. If I notice anyone from thier discription from this board I may say Hi (pissed). if all goes well I may go to Notts aswell ??

In anticipation

Dave : :D

Ste - May 2, 2005 10:22 PM (GMT)
NOTTINGHAM:

I'll be in notts too.. not sure what'll be wearing yet but probably jeans and a t-shirt of some description. Not sure what time will be around from but i'd guess sometime around 6ish.

Bringing one (maybe two) people from work along who i've talked into going and should have one or two mates there who are fans too.

Will probably be in Scream next to the venue chomping on a scream burger sometime before the gig starts with any luck :)

Damian - May 2, 2005 11:23 PM (GMT)
LONDON/NOTTINGHAM

More Bristol Silver Sun fans... hooray!

Ste - May 3, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
NOTTINGHAM:

I've always found the tap and tumbler to be a bit dodgy to be honest.. it's ok but it's usually chock full. It's a bit of a rock pub so the music is usually good but it's a bit of a dive.

There's a "Scream" pub right next to Rescue rooms called "the horn in hand" that's ok and does decent food cheap (the Scream Burgers are excellent so long as you're not trying to be healthy). Or "The Orange Tree" is a 5 minute walk from the venue and does nice c0cktails etc..

Scream might be best bet though as it's right next to Rescue Rooms and shouldn't be too busy if getting there a bit before the gig. I'll probably be in there after around 6ish all being well.

philonski and petester (and anyone else!), will you be in the horn in hand? and will there be any members of The Cakes there? i need to know if i should be baking!
i'll be with a short skinny goth named jo. i'm tall and i have long ish hair and i dunno what i'll be wearing. i wear rectangle glasses (not boxframe though!).

goodgoon - May 3, 2005 02:09 PM (GMT)
What will you be wearing Ste? I want to speak to the legend largely responsible for keeping the Silver Sun community going!

Ste - May 3, 2005 03:36 PM (GMT)
I'm 6' 2".. blonde short hair..

Will most likely be in blue jeans, white trainers and a t-shirt.. not sure which one.

Would be cool to meet up (same goes for everyone else going to Notts)..

Hopefully see a fair few of you there.

Anyone driving who doesn't know notts, there's a car park right next to rock city which is 50p an hour from 5.30pm onwards (i think, might be 6.30pm onwards) and is 2 mins from the venue. It's the last left turn right before Rock City (the street it's on is a one way jobby).

Alex - May 3, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)
best pub in notts is by far the pit and pendulum. just for the false bookcase entrance to the toilets. in front of them are the best seats in the house watching drunks try and find the door. i highly recommend it. its probably 10-15mins walk from rock city. its our usual haunt on the way to a gig (its beena while though...)

alex

Philonski - May 4, 2005 08:06 AM (GMT)
I'll try to make it to the pub in Nottingham first (no reason why not). My packing says I'll be wearing a black Clearlake t-shirt.

Edit: (I mean the Horn In Hand.)

petester - May 4, 2005 08:36 AM (GMT)
I'll do my best to make it to the pub. I'm not sure what time we'll be arriving yet, but we'll be keeping our eyes open for people when we arrive.

shed_jish - May 4, 2005 11:38 AM (GMT)
yes! the pit is a lovely pub. Except, the guy who sits by the sinks in the toliet and sings (no really) is a bit oddass :\ but they do good c0cktails.

There's always one! So this Horn In Hand is a Scream pub? Yellow Card discounts ahoy, then. Notts gig is tomorrow!!! Can't wait!!!

Nick - May 4, 2005 03:47 PM (GMT)
We'll try and make it. We'll need to eat though, so no autographs till later please!

Timmy Dub - May 4, 2005 03:48 PM (GMT)
Hey! Will hopefully be at the Horn In Hand before the gig tomorrow. Don't think anyone wants to come to the gig with me though! Some people don't know what they're missing out on... Will be wearing my black Neo Wave shirt. Hopefully the venue will be quite busy - I've got a funny feeling.

shed_jish - May 4, 2005 03:48 PM (GMT)
nick! are you bringing alex?

i'm really hoping i'll get to talk to lots of you.

Sonic Sloth - May 4, 2005 04:02 PM (GMT)
I am exceedingly excited about Nott gig tomorrow. Probably wearing my Death Cab For Cutie t-shirt, bonus points (but no booze, sorry :) ) to anyone spotting that.

kiosk - May 4, 2005 04:07 PM (GMT)
Looks like I'll be getting there between 6:30 @ 7:00 so I'll probably make one in the Horn in Hand, I recon I'll be wearing a black shirt with stripes I'll be with my wife (blonde Hair) a couple of lads from work, the guitarist from KiOSK (or whatever were now called) and his missus. I'll keep my eye out for you all.
CAN'T FUPIN WAIT.

No! He's in Southampton, interviewing James tonight, and I haven't sanctioned use of dad's credit card!

But he know's I'll pay up if he wants to come.

(are you reading this alex?)

TheTallGuy - May 5, 2005 02:00 PM (GMT)
I went to the Southampton gig last night with a lady friend. Imagine my delight when, this morning, we were driving along and saw JB and Richard (the bassist: can't remember if he's R1 or R2) walking along the pavement. We beeped as we drove past and waved like mad things - cue quizzical "Do we know them?" looks from the SS band members. Classic!

R2 I think, although I wouldn't put money on it.

The Nottingham gig was fantastic lastnight - really good atmosphere and the band seemed to be having a great time. Loved the new songs, specially the first one - the rest of the set was superb as well.

Was nice meeting so many people off the board too.. hopefully will remember everyone here, apologies if i've missed anyone but i metup with Phillipa, Nick, Jish, Timmy Dub, Pete and Kiosk - everyone was really cool and friendly as you'd expect.

Hopefully see you all again on the next tour :)

Couldn't have put it better myself hi to everyone, soz if I was talking rubbish I was just a little bit drunk  (as if you didn't notice)
Can't remember the last time I had such a good time at a gig, maybe shouldn't have jumped around so much though these old bones are suffering this morning, (but after waiting 7 years there was no way I was gonna stand at the back with my arms crossed.)
Not to worry can't wait to do it all over again tonight.....

Nick - May 6, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
Good to meet you too, Kiosk. Have a good time tonight.

Notingham WAS superb, you had to be there..... B)

Hello. Not ever posted on here before but Ive been loitering around watching the news for a while. Anyway, just wanted to say the Silver Sun were amazing last night and worth the massive wait. Our band (Swound!) managed to blag our way on to the bill and whatever I do from now on in my life I will always be able to say I played with Silver Sun. Met some very nice people too, who are apparently residents of this board, but I don't know exactly who they are. To those people - hello and thankyou for the kind comments

In short, Silver Sun rock my world and I can't wait to see them again.

Maz - May 7, 2005 12:04 PM (GMT)
hehe...were you the first or second band?

here here...twas a great night x
