Title: I'm New Too!
Description: Silver sun

Rick.N.Baker - September 5, 2003 09:28 AM (GMT)
Hi,

I am new here two and came for details of gigs, seen these guys a million times before, thought it was all over, great to see that it is not!

Hi to Sweet G 24 who has come here from my regular forum too.

Hope that there are other gigs planned for the future too.

Best RnB

I can't believe how suddenly this place has blossomed! It's brilliant to have so many like-minded people around... but if we all meet up at the gig, we'll spend the whole night saying hello!

Ste - September 5, 2003 09:35 AM (GMT)
Yeah welcome to the board!

This boards really took off these past few weeks - we'll have to have a party when the user count hits 100! :D

Rick.N.Baker - September 5, 2003 09:40 AM (GMT)
Cheers folks. I am sure that the good news of the gig and a new album will spread quickly and your ranks will soon swell.....you could soon get fed up with saying hi to new members!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me if there are any more gigs planned for the future other than the Camden date which unfortunately I can't make....maybe someone could tell the guys that the south coast (Brighton) is very nice at this time of year ;)

Ste - September 5, 2003 09:44 AM (GMT)
I think the Camden one is the only one planned for now - it's more of a showcase for the new album rather than the start of a tour as far as I can tell.

I'm sure there'll be a full tour once the new album gets released though, not sure how soon that'd be but someone on here mentioned they'd heard early next year as a likely date now with a single next month in time for the gig..

Welcome, Welcome to Rick.N.Baker!

It's good to see community activity.

Bands like Silver Sun need support cos of the dire crap in the music scene which has killed Indie & now killing festivals as I found out recently.

Camden Barfly's a pukka venue! Should be good!!

Allo All Newbies!

Ste - September 5, 2003 10:02 AM (GMT)
Out of curiosity, how big is the venue? how many people can it hold roughly?

Just wondering whether the gigs likely to sell out or not..

Sweet G 24 - September 5, 2003 10:13 AM (GMT)
The capacity is roughly 500.

Last gig I saw there was 3 Colours Red on there return in May 2002.

Damian - September 5, 2003 11:53 AM (GMT)
500! It'll be something if we sell that out.

I can't believe how many people are appearing here now they're coming back. Why did Polydor dump them? Lack of interest? Dolts.

It is going to be hard for everyone to meet everyone at this rate. I think what I'll do is wear a distinctive shirt of some description, and tell you what it is in advance. Then anyone who wants to say hello can!

Philonski - September 5, 2003 12:08 PM (GMT)
Distinctive shirt, good plan. For the ULU gig, Timone had a t-shirt made which said "I'm Timone" on the back. Well, actually it said "I'AM TIMONE" because the printing shop didn't understand apostophes.

The Monarch actually only has a capacity of 200, which is not very many. I reckon we've got a good chance of getting that sold out between us, our mates, the band's mates, and the support bands' fans.

Sweet G 24 - September 5, 2003 06:05 PM (GMT)
Sure we can meet in many puns in the area, though not a the tube station cess pit.

Chalk Farm's nearer for the venue.

Yes 200 upstairs for the gigs that take place, though the whole venue is 500 on a club night etc

Come nearer the time we can sort out what we are all wearing etc

Gonna Be Top! :D :D :P :P

shed_jish - September 5, 2003 06:23 PM (GMT)

have enough fun to make up for the fact i'll be at home on my own.

probably crying.

Sweet G 24 - September 6, 2003 05:24 PM (GMT)
:) Don't Cry!

Sure Someone Can Buzz You from The Venue & Have A Listen To Make Up For It?

:)

shed_jish - September 6, 2003 07:28 PM (GMT)
right. listening down a phone? not quite the same.

and anyway, everyone here hates me, so if i gave them my phone number i'd just get scary phone calls*

*even more than normal

[edit - make a profile on the introduce yourself topic. you sound relatively insane.

Damian - September 7, 2003 12:34 AM (GMT)
Sir - one person had a bit of a pop, that hardly constitutes everyone hating you, does it? Cheer up!

Sweet G 24 - September 7, 2003 09:01 AM (GMT)
'Hate' is a term which needs more than sufficent justification.

I doubt your hated, so relax & enjoy the ride!

shed_jish - September 7, 2003 07:41 PM (GMT)
saying : Sir - one person had a bit of a pop, that hardly constitutes everyone hating you, does it? Cheer up!

thinking : bastard bastard bastard bastard, bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard, bastard? bastard bastard!

Look - I've had certain rants about the net before ... largely because of my experiences doing Computing at Uni. Here's another one.

The net has no 'context' - think of the things you say to people in real life. Half of the stuff people say looks abrupt or rude when written down and taken out of context. People will say daft things to me at work and I'll say 'oh piss off' or whatever, and it sounds light-hearted. Send that in an e-mail to someone and they'll think you're being aggressive. That's why it's good to stick to facts and opinions on the net rather than ever addressing anything personally.

So look - nobody has a downer on anyone. And if they do, tough shite, it's their problem not yours. This really isn't a hateful board anyway - the day it becomes like the ones most other bands have is the day I stop using it. It won't bother me at all if that happens, I've got plenty of other things to do, I just post on here because I like the band. Take a look at the boards on www.weezer.com or www.benfolds.com to see what this COULD be like.

The 'acid test' is whether people who can rant and rave behind the coward's shield of anonymity would do it if they met you in person. And I bet they wouldn't, not just out of politeness but because 99.9% of people can get on very well when they converse on a human level.

Blah. Let's change the subject. I've just found out that David Blaine comes out of his box (if he's still alive) the day before the gig. Very annoying, especially as my hotel is right next to where he's doing it...

Ste - September 7, 2003 09:58 PM (GMT)
I'm quite proud of this board as it's always only attracted people who come on here to talk about music they love and have a bit of fun with other likeminded people.

There's never been any real arguements or anything on here, it's nice and relaxed.

Very occasionally we've had someone come on just to post insults/slag off the band but even then no-one has risen to the bait and generally i'll just delete any posts like that anyway.

With lots of new users coming, there's a chance things might change for the worse in that respect but so far things are looking good.

A lot of boards i've seen you get all the stuff where long time users don't like newcomers etc.. with "piss off newbie" being a common expression, here everyones welcomed with open arms and a quick "buy the new wildearts album" from Damian.

Three cheers for everyone here - newbies and oldies alike - hip hip hoozah!

Ok, i need to lay off the Irn Bru now.. ;)

Damian - September 8, 2003 07:35 AM (GMT)
Well put.

PS. Buy the new Wildhearts album. It's ace.

the net stinks. but honest to god, in new mills after dark it's this or drugs.

and i'm sure captain sensible *removes comments that would be describable as rising to the bait* is a very nice person.

*cough*
