Title: School Of Rock

I know it came out on DVD a while back now, but I can't stop watching it! Jack Black is so good!

Surely you guys have seen this film?

Damian - July 31, 2004 01:12 PM (GMT)
Oh aye. Mentioned it in another thread some time back. I said something along the lines of the fact that I normally hate the 'plucky outsiders make good'-type films (particularly drivel like Sister Act), but that this was a major exception to the rule!

Bone Idle - July 31, 2004 02:41 PM (GMT)
Yeah, saw it at the cinema when it first came out. Lots of fun, but not quite enough to make me buy the DVD. This may not win me many friends, but... I think Jack Black was a little too over the top in this one - I love him normally, but think he dominated the film to its detriment.

I see what you mean, the whole film is kinda his vehicle really. But I think the kids hold their own!

Read between the lines!

tis rather good i'd. saying that i don't think jack black gets any better than in orange county or high fidelity

goodgoon - August 2, 2004 06:42 PM (GMT)
I do believe I've never seen them. I'll scope them out one day.

Bone Idle - August 2, 2004 06:49 PM (GMT)
High Fidelity is good (not as good as the book though) but I've never seen Orange County. Will certainly check it out when I get a chance.

shed_jish - August 2, 2004 09:49 PM (GMT)
high fidelity is great. I'll have to watch orange county.

tis rather good i'd. saying ........

does that make any sense? i think not. i will endevour to read through things.

just to give you a further push towards orange county; it's written by the guy that did school of rock (and was in it) but for a kinda older audience which makes it rather spanky. plus it's got jack black in his underwear alot, which is a very pretty sight.

there you go Jish, another reason for you to see it.

Richard Linklater (the director) also directed Dazed And Confused, another one I keep meaning to check out. Anyone seen this?

Bone Idle - August 3, 2004 09:39 PM (GMT)
Yes. Dazed and Confused is great. Filled with Hollywood types making early career appearances and looking very young! And some excellent haircuts.

A bit like the mid-nineties pictures of Silver Sun up there! Way to go Paul.

There are lots of long-haired layabout 70s kids, and a few with some dodgy perms. And a very interesting bumfluff moustache effort!

Sounds like the place where I work part-time. Hello, Morrisons.
