Title: Favorite Song...
Description: ...with a twist!

petester - August 16, 2003 08:51 PM (GMT)
So there's gonna be a gig, but is it only new songs? That's what seems to be implied. Now my favorite SS song is probably Why So Blue, though Fifteen runs it pretty close. But I'm not too bothered about hearing either one live. I'd rather hear Lava, so my question is, if Silver Sun play one classic as an encore, what would you want it to be?

Damian - August 16, 2003 10:11 PM (GMT)
Um, so what you're basically asking for is a 'Top 1' rather than a 'Top 5'.

That'll be Lava then.

petester - August 17, 2003 11:00 AM (GMT)
Well, the song you'd most like to hear live.

Damian - August 17, 2003 12:00 PM (GMT)
See above. B)

I think Far Out would be a superb choice if they wanted to do an old Silver Sun gem. Reason: simply so I could see and hear James Broad playing that great saxophone bit. I'm not sure if he plays the sax live as the guitar might get in the way or something, but if this was possible it would be fantastic.

shed_jish - August 17, 2003 03:40 PM (GMT)
just one? hardly fair. but it would have to be either far out or lava or xanadu, or dead end would be cool. how do you all get these song's i've never heard of? maybe, it's cos i'm fairly stoopid.

Damian - August 17, 2003 05:18 PM (GMT)
You can probably get most of them through a mixture of Amazon (second hand sellers) and eBay, at a guess. But I think you're already doing eBay aren't you?

Jayem - August 17, 2003 10:24 PM (GMT)
JB once told me they don't play 'Dead End' live... so I'd quite like to hear that, just... because it would be slightly surreal.

I dunno, I'm too tired to think at the moment.

Hey there! Man, I hope this sends. I've been trying to put messages on the SS board since Christmas but my computer's being playing up. Why So Blue would be my no.1 choice for a live song cos it's just so good (& my favourite). I've been checking the SS sites since '96. Got all their stuff, bootlegs and all. Just so happy they're a-comin back! I'm up in Scotland but I'm hoping to get to the Camden Town gig. It will be cool to meet up with you fellow superfans! It's been too long!

Dumb or Wonderful would be good to hear. Julia, xanadu and Last day would make me smile too! oh, oh and click that has to be a fave!!
to be honest they can play owt they like its just fuckn excellent news that theyre coming back just as 3 Colours Red have too!!! Come on!!!

Damian - August 20, 2003 04:50 PM (GMT)
I love 3 Colours Red - but I think they're proof that Silver Sun are handling their comeback the right way. I've seen 3CR twice on their comeback tours and the attendance has been middling, with just one single to back it up. I think (and hope) Silver Sun are doing this the right way round...

Um... no! You've mentioned several times on here that you're buying stuff on eBay...

I'm off to Reading Festival tomorrow. And the powers that be have picked right now as the time for me to get a really heavy cold. Harumph.

Dude, I'm totally with you on that, they're my two favourites from the first album... damn right too.

I'd like to hear Sharks played in an accoustic style at some point in the show. But to end it i think it'd have to be Julia

soooooo know what you mean. the first time i heard it, i was all excited at the new s.s album in general, and i hated it. but it's amazingly great if i'm in the mood, like the lemon jelly album.
and damian - damn you! i thought i had a fan : p
enjoy reading. i might be at leeds, if i'm lucky.

p.s 'permission to land' - rocks
'modern music in almost every other way' - bad bad bad

I used to play Centre for the Nottingham Outlaws American Football team, so Cheerleading has personal resonance for me...

... nah, it's got to be Lava, hasn't it? :D

Gav - August 22, 2003 12:55 PM (GMT)
2 digits" for me. Twould be a supremly triumphant way to end a gig

Got all their stuff, bootlegs and all.

Hey there guys & gals, just been a bit of a 'nosey parker' (?!), and reading thru some of the old posts, as i'm fairly new to the message board (however not to the superb band we know as 'Silver Sun'). I saw this quote, and it made me think.... (yeah, it did hurt!)

I have all the SS CDs, singles & Jpn versions, but no bootlegs!...

How could one aquire one of these aforementioned bootlegs?? Anyone know, or willing to do me a copy?? Would be most grateful & interested to hear.

Cheers! Nath.

Damian - December 17, 2006 10:32 AM (GMT)
There were two sets of four bootlegs - everything from demos of the first two albums, to live sets, radio appearances and whatnot.

I think someone put them on YouSendIt before or something similar if I recall... are those still about? If not we'll have to try and sort something out.

Oh right, thanks, i've had a look & can't seem to find anything. If anyone can shed some more light on these i would be most grateful. Or even if anyone has these!

Cheers, Nath.
