Title: Limp Sodding Bizkit
Description: I have tickets to see them. No, really.

Damian - August 4, 2003 10:50 PM (GMT)
It's like this. Today I genuinely purchased tickets to see Limp flippin' Bizkit. Anyone who knows me will know how implausible this is because I hate, REALLY hate them.

So... today I noticed that they were giving away tickets (well, selling them for a quid each). And it turns out, on that day I'm in London for a day out. And I was thinking about the Robbie Williams shows at the weekend. I despise Robbie almost as much, but the support bill... Moby, Ash, The Darkness. And then I could have left and avoided that traffic nightmare that everyone else had.

This is apparently a full day out with a supporting bill. So once I know what it is, I can either nip over to Finsbury Park as part of my day out to see a band or two, or sell the two tickets. I could sell them back for the quid each I paid, because touts are not nice people. But then, this is Limp ruddy Bizkit we're talking about here. How bad would I feel about eBaying them? Not that bad at all.

If I do end up going though, I'll make sure I have my fly spray with me. After all, there will be people there who genuinely like them. Errrrgh. (shudder).

Cheers,
Damian.

PS. The fact remains though, I paid for tickets to a gig headlined by THAT band. Can I ever look myself in the face again?

Damian - August 4, 2003 10:52 PM (GMT)
Actually, the heading for this message is misleading. I have tickets for their show, I don't have tickets to SEE them... because I will be in the pub or a restaurant by then. Some distance away.

Philonski - August 5, 2003 03:17 PM (GMT)
I've bought some tickets too - but haven't found out who the support are. Do you reckon they're going to tell us in advance? Or will they keep LimpBizkitJuniorz as a surprise for the day itself?

Damian - August 5, 2003 03:55 PM (GMT)
I believe that they will be announcing the line-up in advance. Whatever happens, I won't see the headliners so I won't get caught in the crowds at the end!

It'll probably turn out to be Staind, Puddle of Mudd and Creed, in which case my tickets will be on sale quicker than you can say 'Fast Food Rockers'.

Cheers,
Damian.

You two! have a listen to August81 pleaseeee :D
from reading your previous posts/your musical taste I am most certain the both of you will like them lots.

go on ;) www.august81.com

Damian - August 5, 2003 06:16 PM (GMT)
Erm... OK then. I'll be at a house with broadband tomorrow night so I'll give it a shot. Would you by any chance have some kind of connection with this band, beyond the fact that you like them, hmmm?

Jayem - August 5, 2003 07:45 PM (GMT)
What day is this gig?

If there's a decent support lineup (ie: anything but Creed and Stain'd...), I'd go. I'd just have to be several hundred yards away before Limp Dipshit started.

Damian - August 5, 2003 08:11 PM (GMT)
Saturday September 6. But you're too late already - they've sold out (well, run out as they weren't sold but you get my point). I suspect eBay's probably full of them already...

dan - August 5, 2003 09:19 PM (GMT)
So what if I have a connection to them? (they are my friends) does that mean you shouldn't listen to them? I bet you'd listen to them if the NME told you to. I just think they're really good and worthy of silver sun fans attention. I'd say it'll be another year or so before MTV2 gets a hold of them so I thought I'd try and drum up a bit of interest this way. If you think it's crap then so be it.

Philonski - August 6, 2003 09:55 AM (GMT)
I did try listening yesterday, but the song you recommended didn't work. Kept just coming up with "corrupt data". Listened to one of the clips, but it was so short I couldn't form an opinion. Is the mp3 anywhere else?

dan - August 6, 2003 04:35 PM (GMT)
woo! I knew you were nice people on this board :P
I don't think it's an mp3 to download, try left clicking instead of right clicking and you can just listen to it

i'm sure your a very nice person, but i actually wanted to rip your limbs off when you said this. GAH! are you in a band yourself? do you have any idea how important this is as free advertising? i only ever got into silver sun cos someone told me about 'em on a board! its not as if this fella said something completely unrelated to anything! how many bands would you have heard of without this sort of thing? very little! and what about your 'view the endevours of my artistic friend'? it's the same thing

sorry if i sounded angry. i was, you see, angry.

Philonski - August 7, 2003 09:15 AM (GMT)
I did left click. It doesn't work. Sorry.

Damian - August 7, 2003 11:49 AM (GMT)
Um... I wasn't objecting to it at all! I only asked if he had a link to the band. I also said I'd go and check it out next time I was at a PC with broadband access, which will now be at the weekend. If I was in a band (which might well happen before the year is out), I'd plug it here too.

Not quite sure why people want to tear my head off - I'm probably the most polite person you'll ever meet! I don't know, start a thread on Limp flippin' Bizkit and look what happens...

Cheers,
Damian (confused).

Damian - August 7, 2003 11:55 AM (GMT)
In fact, in all seriousness, I would appreciate it if people looked at a few of my previous posts on here (there are a few - it's the only message board I inhabit) and see if I sound like a nasty person before jumping to conclusions.

Cheers,
Damian.

Philonski - August 7, 2003 01:43 PM (GMT)
You don't sound like a nasty person. I suppose with a great deal of imagination (and with my eyes half-shut) perhaps you could feasibly turn out to be 'nasty' if you were an ever-so-nice and polite upper class villain with a thin moustache. You know, the sort who'd say "Would you by any chance have some kind of connection with this band, beyond the fact that you like them, hmmm?" while swiping your pocket watch. But it doesn't seem likely. And I don't have a pocket watch so I'm probably safe anyway.

dan - August 7, 2003 04:58 PM (GMT)
it works for me and everyone else I know thats tried it. I guess you may need quicktime.

listen out for em anyway :D

shed_jish - August 7, 2003 06:22 PM (GMT)

i was listening to the cure. i'm hardly responsible for my actions. i did take out the meanest bits after i calmed down a bit, notice the editing. i hope your band goes well, i'll listen to any clips you post. and i'm sorry.

i suppose this is it for me and silver sun forums then? *sigh*

dan - August 7, 2003 06:31 PM (GMT)
no, I'll be nice to you still :)
but only if you say you listened to august81 and liked them very much
err, thanks for sticking up for me.
I can also validate that from previous posts damien appears to be the nicest person in the world. it is true yes.

Damian - August 7, 2003 08:00 PM (GMT)
No worries! Downloading the August81 tracks now.

Cheers,
Damian.

Damian - August 7, 2003 08:07 PM (GMT)
OK.

Empathetic - reminded me a bit of the verse from Foo Fighters' Everlong. Not a bad thing.

Tiredness Can Kill - sounds lively enough, but the clip only lasts 16 seconds...

B-Side - reminded me a bit of the intro from Foo Fighters' Everlong before going a bit JJ72 if Mark Greaney's voice had broken.

Not bad at all...

Cheers,
Damian.

Damian - August 7, 2003 08:09 PM (GMT)
Oh, and one more thing. I had a REALLY bad day at work. Which leads to two things... 1) me surfing the net to forget about the job for a bit (avoid IT web support like the plague... there's my advice) and 2) me taking things dead seriously (something I'm not known for 99% of the time).

Note to self: try to get a new job!

shed_jish - August 9, 2003 10:54 AM (GMT)
i only had time to listen to 'empathetic' but it was pretty good. a bit angst - y for me, but the singing was right on. where abouts they from? and is 'b side' a cover of the mad caddies track of the same name?

as you can guess, i'm all for shamelessly plugging your bands. anyone care to get us started?

ok, i will.

'thunder radio' rock duo of thunder josh and radio will. roughly 8 roughly half-hour long albums since '01. never performed a cover. if we can get it, online stuff soon.

thank you. (sorry. unrelated, i know)

and this was what i was really mad about that time.

7th circle of hell? this guy has alot to be happy about, listens to evananascenence (?) and whinges non stop to me. this? the final straw.

Sweet G 24 - September 5, 2003 12:46 PM (GMT)
Yea, I'm seeing 'LB' as well tomorrow, though I won't hang around for them.

Support Acts I'll See:

Biifly Clyro
InMe
A
One More (TBA)?

Problem is I've seen them all lol

Damian - September 5, 2003 01:41 PM (GMT)
The other act is The Cooper Temple Clause. I'm not going now, although I do like 'A' a lot (I do street team-type stuff for them)

Philonski - September 5, 2003 03:39 PM (GMT)
And there's another support band - Stun. Don't know anything about them. A are OK, but I can't get excited about the rest, so I might not go.

Sweet G 24 - September 5, 2003 05:17 PM (GMT)
Yea, I'll just go for the support acts & head home. I like InMe, A & CTC!

Jayem - September 5, 2003 10:28 PM (GMT)
The Coopers are playing?

Bollocks! How did I miss out on this?

Oh yeah, the fact that Limp Dipshit are gonna be there, that put me off, hehe.

Damian - September 7, 2003 12:43 AM (GMT)
So... who went? What was it like? I've just got back from my day out in London and have come on briefly to check a few eBay auctions of mine that are about to close.

And for those of you that went, did any of you go back on your word and watch the Bizkit as well? Apparently, at their warm-up gig in Manchester, they managed to make enemies of the one set of friends they had left - their fans. They played for an hour then refused to return, leading (apparently) to ten minutes of booing. For £25! I also read that it was half-full, in spite of a rumour about 600 tickets being given away on the day. Some of the above may be journalists twisting the knife, but the stuff about the short set and the booing was in two newspaper articles I read on the train journey to London.

Booing wouldn't have been enough for me. Rotten fruit would have been the order of the day... while they were still onstage. Cue puns about the fans hitting the shit etc...

:D

(Sorry, aimless message, but it's like, stupid o'clock, or something, my brain isn't working.)

(Note to self: learn to control the over-use of commas.)

Philonski - September 8, 2003 08:27 AM (GMT)
All my tickets went unused. I wonder how many people (out of 40,000 tickets) actually turned up in the end.

Damian - September 8, 2003 07:32 PM (GMT)

Sweet G 24 - September 9, 2003 10:20 AM (GMT)
I bought 4 tickets, didn't go.

Sold 3 tickets.

Made £12 profit!
