Title: Bo' Selecta!
Description: The best comedy show around

Does anybody else watch this on Channel 4 on Friday nights? Absolutely fantastic. The natural successor to Trigger Happy TV.

I've seen the odd bit and found it very funny. I always forget it's on or just catch a few minutes when channel surfing.
Might pick up the DVD at some point.
In important news though, everyone must pick up FAMILY GUY SEASON 3 on DVD or Video this coming Monday for it is fantabulous.. oh yes and no mistake.

Allow me to back Ste up on this one - Family Guy is genius.

When Family Guy first surfaced I thought it was amazing, but the second season was certainly nowhere near the standard of the first. I've only seen one episode from the third season (involving a fishing trip), and I'm sorry but the quality just wasn't there. I'll probably buy the third season anyway, but it is sad that cartoons like this have continued when Futurama was cancelled (though is that coming back? I've not kept up to date on that), and cartoons such as Dilbert and especially Clerks Animated never got a decent shot.
Blame the networks I guess.

Funny you should say that - Family Guy got axed by Fox too - Series 3 was the last series.
I saw a few on Sky which made me laugh so i bought season 2 and thought it was hilarious so i went back and bought season 1.. haven't seen season 3 at all yet so can't wait..
I thought season 2 was great, though i agree the first was probably a bit better..
Despite it being canned, there is talk of a Family Guy movie though as apparantly Fox have been caught a little off guard by how well the shows DVD's have been selling..
Here's hoping... :D

I am still considering buying Season 3, and I'd definitely go to see a Family Guy movie. Kevin Smith keeps talking about doing a Clerks Animated movie entirely in Flash, which would be quite an achievement, and would also open the door for a lot of lower budget cartoon movies.

A Family Guy movie would be fantastic. But I agree about Dilbert as well... it would be nice to at least be able to buy the stuff on DVD. I think one series was made available but I don't think you can get it anymore, although I do have a video with three episodes on it that I bought way back.
Best of all though (and I'm sure some will disagree with me on this), six new Ren and Stimpy episodes are being made!
Cheers,
Damian.

I heard about that - some of the original team are doing them aren't they, so hopefully they'll be like the early ones before they went a pit pants..
STIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMPY!

Futurama was doomed to fail really. There was no way it could have lived up to The Simpsons, no matter how good it was (or is). As for Family Guy, the episodes I have seen are really good, and dispelled my original view of it being an inferior Simpsons clone.
And new Ren and Stimpy you say?
HELL YES!

Ok, I picked up Family guy on the way into work this morning and have watched 3 episodes at lunch, it's brilliant.
I was almost in tears at one point (the bit where it shows a diaper on the lamp and stewie walks in with a light bulb sticking out his ass - genius!).
Dunno if they're all gonna be as funny as the ones i've seen but so far i'm loving it as much as both the other series.
21 episodes.. yay! B)

So I must be the only person who doesn't find Bo Selecta in the slightest bit funny. I have only watched it once, but that seemed enough...
Alex H - July 21, 2003 08:19 PM (GMT)
Oh and Futurama is class! Too many people compare it to the Simpsons.
And member no. 13...can that be changed? :S
petester - July 21, 2003 09:14 PM (GMT)
Ooh, number auctions! You'd have to be a pretty miserable person if you actually wanted the number 13. Just like you'd have to be pretty immature if you wanted number 69.
I'll consider 37 when it comes up though.
Sorry, I'm in a bit of a childish mood right now...

'Bo' Selecta' is great, I highly recommend the season 1 DVD.
Family Guy is also genius, got my Season 3 DVD this morning. Damn Fox for canceling so many great shows.

Apparently they're quite terrible. It's more of an adult orientated cartoon, so it's gross out comedy for the sake of being so. Ren & Stimpy are also now openly gay.
Damian - July 23, 2003 06:24 PM (GMT)
What's your source on that? I didn't think the new cartoons were finished yet. But they're being made by John Kricfalusi who made the original (i.e. good) ones. Although he's one of these people who makes great art (heh - my opinion!) but comes across as overpoweringly dull when he talks about it.
Cheers,
Damian.

It's on 'The New TNN - The First Network for Men' as part of a 2 hour comedy block of cartoons aimed at an older audience. I believe it's been running for four weeks now, I've been able to download some of the other shows in the block but not Ren & Stimpy.
If you read from here for about three or four pages of the forum, you'll notice all the bad reviews.

| There is no amount of words that I can phrase to say how bad this show was. It was 22 minutes of an absolutely non-sensical, practically non-existant plot, no dialogue, and grotesque eating, actions, and innuendos. John K. is truly a sick, sick man. He went from classic R&S which was good to RF which was bad to Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon which is ugly. There was absolutely no redeeming jokes, gags, or dialogue in this episode to save it from being a dud. |

Took a quick look. The majority of people who hated it appear to hate Ren & Stimpy, full stop. I still want to see it! It's a shame they've been made for an adult audience without an eye towards kids as well, but I'm curious anyway.
