You may (or may not) remember me banging on about Sixty Watt Bayonets at some point in the past. Anyways, they have a new single out now called 'I Wish I Was Your Girlfriend'. Steve Lamacq played it the other day (it was his show on 03/05/10, right at the end of the show - literally the last song he played - you can catch it on iPlayer for the next few days here). In the words on Lamacq, 'I like this a lot' - what better recommendation could you ask for?

I've had a listen to most of the tunes on their MySpace but I don't like the sound of them much. The singer reminds me a little of The Grates frontwoman at times, although I think they're opposite sexes!

I can't listen right now, stupid public computers with no speakers, but I remember liking them when you plugged them before so I'll check it out as soon as I'm on a useful computer.

Also, yay, someone else in this country knows The Grates.

I'm not overly aware of the Grates, but I'll take a listen to them. Regarding Sixty Watt Bayonets, I can confirm that the singer is most definitely female! (She's my girlfriend...)
