Title: Biscuits
Description: A tricky question
Bone Idle - November 6, 2003 02:50 PM (GMT)
Time for some scientific gathering of information on this forum.

Bourbons - they're great either alone or when dunked.
There's a lot of different sorts though, I like the crumblier proper ones rather than the more brittle cheaper ones if that makes any sense.
Rich tea are ok too, great for dunking.
But yeah, gonna have to go with bourbons.

Out of the two choices on offer I would have to go for the custard creams :)
elephant56 - November 6, 2003 05:42 PM (GMT)
Hmmm.
From a scientific point of view, it has to be said that "ginger crunches" are the more noble biccy. However, the quality of tea/coffee dunking must be evaluated, and also the aftertaste.
In conclusion, more evaluation MUST be carried out.
SEND FOR THE NEXT LOAD...

Custard creams without a shadow of a doubt.

Pah. Enough of your lousy biscuits...Someone pass me a cookie!!!
shed_jish - November 7, 2003 08:40 PM (GMT)
yeah.. some of the major biscuits have not been evaluted (jammie dodgers!) though of those, it's bourbons. i don't dunk (not a fan of tea or coffee) but, overall...

hail davord! hail WLW!
although i think overall, you would need more biscuits to get a fair test.

If biscuits are a driving force in your life, you could do worse than to look here:
http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com
Philonski - November 11, 2003 12:27 PM (GMT)
Regardless of the site's content, that's the best domain name I've seen in my life. Wish I'd thought of it myself.
I could really do with a nicecupofteaandasitdown - I've just been turned down for the best job ever, when I was clearly the perfect person for it. On the other hand, I've brought some leftover butterscotch angel delight in for lunch, so it's not all bad news.
Please will someone else vote for Custard Creams? We need a winner here to settle the matter once and for all.
Damian - November 12, 2003 01:17 AM (GMT)
Aw. Commiserations on the job. Must have been a heck of a job... you're currently in one that allows you to poke your nose in and get Silver Sun on the radio... and you wanted to leave it?
Don't give up. I'm currently applying like a maniac to get out of mine; these things take time. My friend beat me to it yesterday - a new job just down the road for a mere £7000 payrise. Hmph.
PS. Can't vote again I'm afraid, I already put my vote in for custard creams. Bourbons are OK but I like chocolate to taste like chocolate... is that too much to ask?

Hmmmm,
I used to like TUC, Butter Puffs, Fruitcakes, Jacobs Cream Crackers & Rich Tea, though I've hardly touched biscuits in the past 7 years.
Being a Lacto Vegetarian limits my choice as well.

of the two, custards would win cos im not really a chocolaty man.
but....yoou forgot dark chocolate hobnobs (okay maybe i can be a chocolate man) they simply beat the other biscuits out of the barrel.

An excellent and entirely reasonable point - this is also why I don't like choc ices. I like bourbons for their size and pull-apartability, but custard creams are inherently superior.
shed_jish - November 13, 2003 07:24 PM (GMT)
re: bourbons chocolate. i don't think of them as chocolate, which is the trick to the deliciousness. what about chocolate bars? i like time out, snickers, lion bar (greatly underated), drifter (strangely named value-for money choice) and, most of all, good ol'e toffee crisp.
Bone Idle - November 13, 2003 10:42 PM (GMT)
I've always been a fan of Crunchies, especially when dunked into a hot cup of tea! In fact, I don't think there is a chocolate bar in existence that isn't improved when taken in conjunction with tea. Doesn't work with coffee, somehow.
elephant56 - November 16, 2003 07:09 PM (GMT)
Caramalised biscuits are beautiful with coffee. As far as chocolate bars go, I'd have to say the "twix" is the king of the cup.
o dear.
Alex - November 17, 2003 09:35 PM (GMT)
lion bar, probably the most underated chocolate bar ever!! i totally agree. love it. dont eat them, but when i used to they were nice. i dont really eat chocolate that often, but if one jumps out at me i would agree with the crunchie, i think ive inherited it from my mum.
