Title: The Bbc

I wanted to rant somewhere.

Taken as an isolated incident, that thing that happened on that radio show was wrong, they should have said sorry and they did. Great.

But I am utterly sick and tired of the BBC - an amazing organisation - being continually put under the cosh. One error of judgment and the usual suspects are out in force - the Tories (Labour criticised the incident, the Tories went straight for the organisation), the Daily Mail, the Daily Express and the Moral Majority in question. Somehow because of this, the BBC is apparently a bastion of all things tawdry and unacceptable and they're finally getting it stuck to them - they've had it coming.

Utter crap. I watch my Planet Earth box set, listen to 6Music, think of all the things I've been introduced to by (for instance) Steve Lamacq such as, say, Silver Sun, think how much I loved watching the Olympics over summer and... and... more other examples than I could list here. I love the BBC.

What I resent most of all is said "usual suspects" being allowed, once again, to dictate the agenda, and to chuck this back at us. For someone like me to say that I'm appalled by the overreaction is somehow the same as saying I support what happened. Rubbish. It WAS wrong... but it has just become a vehicle for the agenda of this faction. I doubt many of them give a flying one about Andrew Sachs and his hurt feelings.

I'm not very articulate at this sort of stuff. But it made me very angry.

i agree with what brand said, something along the lines of "sorry i shouldnt have said those things. but it was quite funny".

and then she sells her story to the papers. obviously deeply traumatized by the whole thing...

I don't find it particularly funny, and it was wrong, but to say so now is to sound like I'm siding with the lynch mob. And Lesley Douglas shouldn't have lost her job, even if she is responsible for George Lamb's continued tenure.
