Title: Eureka Machines
Description: Debut album out now

Who, you might ask, are Eureka Machines? They'll be the other band whose website I do, along with Clearlake. They are essentially power pop with harmonies and loud guitars and they sound like
this. They're fronted by Chris Catalyst, probably the Nicest Man In Rock and definitely the busiest (he also plays in The Sisters of Mercy, The Scaramanga Six, The God Damn Whores and formerly played in AntiProduct).
I originally started doing this because I had put up The God Damn Whores in my flat last year when they supported Cardiacs. What a relief when I actually started hearing the music and found it was as toe-tappy as it is...
To top all this, they've just been confirmed for Reading/Leeds (to which I had a ticket) and also to support The Wildhearts at their Shepherd's Bush Empire show where they're playing the "Earth Vs" album in full to mark its 15th anniversary. Sweet. Anyhow, if you like it, the album's available now through
the website (and in shops from 1st September). As you'll notice, while I author the site, unlike with Clearlake I don't actually write the content. This is just as well because Chris is ten times funnier than me.

They are annoyingly good.
I say 'annoyingly' because I'm too skint to even leave the house, let alone buy CDs. Bah. Ah well, student loan coming soon hopefully...

Yay, gladness! No hint of sadness.

I've got the album now. It made me ridiculously happy when I heard it.
It's also faintly surreal to see my name on a credits list that includes a large number of my musical heroes...

After not liking them initially I occasionally visit their Myspace and as of tonight find they are growing on me...

The first review of the album has appeared.
Four stars. In the most unlikely of places...

Now that's what I call a recommendation! :)

I've forgotten who...

I saw them at Reading yesterday and had the best time ever. Firstly, they were ace. Secondly, they had spare passes for crew... and no crew. So I found myself with a pass, which I thought would just be for the guest area.
Nope. It pretty much allowed you to go anywhere. And be fed. So I had stuffed peppers for my lunch and swordfish for my dinner. Yummy! I kept walking up to the checkpoint bits and waiting to be outed as a fraud, before finding it hard not to laugh as I got waved through. I could have had a free massage too if I felt like it. But most importantly, I got to use the "special" toilets.
Anyway, I had to take advantage of this to wander round, because I'm sure I'll never get another opportunity like that. It is my duty to report to you that nothing happens backstage. It's truck, trailers, buses and people standing round.
Still, Feeder and CSS were eating at various points when we were in there. And Chris from the band slipped a CD to Grant out of Feeder, who took it very graciously. I wonder if he'll listen to it!

Swordfish and stuffed peppers! And here was I thinking they'd all be eating burgers and reconstituted chicken derivatives.

Actually, for the last two years the food at Reading's been really good. They listened to criticisms, which was good of them. If only someone would tell the V organisers.
They even had a Shaken Udder stall. Same thing as Shakeaway basically. :)

Today has been a bit of a mad day for me, in terms of web activity. For one thing, the Eureka Machines album should now be in all good record shops, as of today. And for another thing, I have a thread I need to bump...

Mine should be arriving from Amazon later this week. Really looking forward to hearing it!
