Title: London

Mayor Boris and a BNP councillor.
Do any of you Londoners want to come and live in my Bristol flat?
Pete - May 4, 2008 07:38 AM (GMT)
It seems to me that Mayor Boris and a BNP councillor is what the Londoners voted for.
But if I were living in London, I would seriously consider your offer!
Philonski - May 4, 2008 11:25 AM (GMT)
We've been so busy fuming about Boris that we hadn't noticed a BNP councillor had got in. Honestly, it gets on my wick. Almost everyone I know kept saying how awful it would be if Boris was Mayor, and that it was really important to vote for Ken... and then on Friday, one by one, they all admitted they hadn't bothered to go and vote at all. Duh huh!!!

The one positive for me is that it's helped with a decision I've been trying to make for a while. Looks like I'll be settling in Brighton when I'm through with university.

Hotbed of musical creativity! Good call.

Indeed. Also happens to be pretty much my favourite place in the world... which is rather the point. I'm not even entirely sure why London was ever really a choice, probably just 'cos everything happens there, etc.

London is a place I'll never want to live forever.
The amount of shootings, stabbings, crime, congestion, hoodies, chavs, over priced transport, immigration, property prices, corupt government, pollution & scum its no wonder so many Brits leave the UK.
It wasn't like this before its been in a gradual decline for about 6 years now & it only gets worse.

Boris will do a great job.
I'm going to London on the 20th June*. Only for three days, mind.
*To The Barbican Hall, good venue anyone?
Does anyone have any suggestions for entertainment on 21st June? I see My Bloody Valentine are playing but it's sold out, and it doesn't have to be live music...
Philonski - May 12, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
Ahh, shame you won't be down a bit earlier. The Hussy's are playing in London on the 18th. Haven't spotted anything good on the Saturday though.
Sweet G 24 - May 14, 2008 05:35 PM (GMT)
The Barbican Hall is good venue I've been there recently (January)
You leave also just a few days before Radiohead invade Victoria Park.
Trust me go down to the Box Office at the RH for any returns for MBV its possible.

Welcome to Borisworld, Londoners...
http://www.efestivals.co.uk/news/080618a.shtmlI went to this a couple of years back, the day after a Silver Sun gig.

I heard a mention of "Mayor Johnson" on the news a couple of days ago and physically shuddered... honest to God, the bloke's a tool.

Woohoo. I've won tickets to see Feeder on the 21st! I have a spare ticket, does anyone want it? The gig is at 4pm at the ULU, Brandon Steep (quite ocake indie-pop band) on at 5pm, Feeder 6pm. The ticket needs to be claimed before 1220pm tomorrow though as I'll have no Internet access after that. If anyone wants it PM me your phone number.
Everyone else on the Feeder forum I frequent who wanted to go has won too (800 free tickets).
Philonski - June 20, 2008 12:52 PM (GMT)
I'm not going to be here tomorrow, otherwise that would have been really fun. Have a good time!
Alex H - June 23, 2008 04:49 PM (GMT)
And what a great weekend it was! I only went for the purpose of seeing Yndi Halda on Friday, but booked an extra nights accommodation to see a few sights. I then found out Feeder were playing a gig on the Saturday, and won tickets for that. Even better, British Sea Power played a free gig at the Natural History Museum! I queued for 1 1/2 hours on Saturday morning (coincidentally, the hostel I booked was right opposite the museum) to get my ticket for that, and it was amazing. The Feeder gig finished at 715 which gave me plenty of time to get there.
Yesterday I went to Arundel (about 40 miles outside London) and walked for most of the day. Rain was forecast but I got sunburnt. Arundel Castle is quite impressive too.
Damian - June 23, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
What a great day that sounded! I've had some good double gig days before - Soulwax and Underworld, Kid Carpet and The Wombats...
Alex H - June 23, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
That was my first I think, here's to many more if they're that good.
I just noticed Wojtek Godzisz was playing in London on Saturday night, I would have been gutted about missing that if I hadn't been watching British Sea Power at the same time.
Here's a picture of Noble crowd surfing, with shoes on his hands...

I never thought I'd ever ask "How much is the compressed elephant's foot?" Just one of the specimens at the merchandise stand, all labelled up as if they were part of a proper museum display. Name another band who has spent time knitting scarves to sell at gigs... :D

It's amusing how a thread about Boris Johnson has led to talk of compressed elephant's foot and knitted scarves.
Damian - June 24, 2008 09:47 AM (GMT)
It's much nicer stuff to talk about. And that's a great picture Alex.

Stunning image! Well impressed! ;)
