a few people play guitar i gathered, well, any instruments really. how talented are we all really? could we form this mind blowingly good band?
i play guitar, gordon smith SG amongst others. and im trying in vain to teach myself piano. piano is at home, alex is at uni = does not match.
what does anyone play. im interested really, we could all share tips and hints. beats those bloody awful guitar sites where all u get in the message board is "slayer rule" and "no, limp bizkit n linkin park do"

I play the piano/keyboards (self taught), drums (ditto) and trumpet (in which, scarily enough, I'm classically trained). I can also conduct, although it's not a skill I've used for a long time. I also used to write songs but that was a long time ago (boring and slightly egocentric fact: at GCSE-level music I got the highest mark in the County of Avon for composition - 138 out of 140). Only problem: I have no lyric-writing ability whatsoever (and judging by the other songwriting thread on this board, I'm not alone...)
On top of that I can play guitar and harmonica to a rudimentary standard and I've got a semi-decent falsetto. What I HAVEN'T got is the money to buy decent equipment which is a damned shame.
One of these days I have to get something together again...

Geetar is my main one but I love to bash out a few tunes on the piano too.

i play a bit of guitar... self/mother taught. i'm fairly average, but know alot of classical chord sequences in a very geeky style.

I have an acoustic guitar, which I'm (allegedly) teaching myself to play, but frankly, I'm shit. I have no natural musical aptitude.
I also play bass, again I'm crap at it, but it's my instrument of choice, I fully intend to make an effort to learn to play it well... one day.
As for singing... heh, best leave that one. I can occasionally do a decent impression of Chris Cornell... but apart from that, nothing.

Singing... well, I'm enthusiastic, in a pub singer kinda way

going back to lyrics. i have written great ones, mainly whilst travelling, about being in california (something about it inspires songs) or about missing my girlfriend. but then i get back home and they become crap again. but me and a friend write songs together a lot, me music, him lyrics. but while i was away he wrote one and sent it to a studio in london. got an email from grant nicholas (of feeder), turns out he likes it and wants to record it. not bad really for a 19year old trying to break into the music biz as a singer/songwriter! and im writing bits for him. roll on!
