Title: Myspace Back Again!
Description: New things
lordmelbury - October 28, 2007 11:39 AM (GMT)
Hello there
After not doing anything with the Myspace site I've decided to put some new songs on there. They are only demos for things for the new album. But I'd like to hear what everyone thinks of them. I don't think we'll be recording until spring and these might not even be on the next album anyway so.......

Blimey! I picked the right time to have a look at the Internet on a rainy Sunday morning...
Like "Life Without Life". Recognisably SS but trying something a bit different. The guitar in the verse reminds me of something by The Faces, although I can't actually remember what it is right now...

love "life without life"........hope it gets on the next album! if you do get the guys together for recording, hop into a van and toddle on down to the nearest barfly. mssing the live sound of silver sun!!!!

Life without life D...
Noticeably Silver Sun but with twiddly piano bits in the middle? A little bit different for the sake of being different, or an attempt to reorganize the SS sound whilst retaining distinctiveness?
I played it three times before writing this, and I honestly believe you should lose the piano bits, James, and replace it with a decent guitar solo. After all, it's what you do best, and it would link the verses a little more coherently whilst retaining the SS sound. After all, SS is what it is due to you developing the sound/style over the years and NOT radically departing from it. Mind you, radical departure didn't seem to hurt Radiohead, did it? Heigh ho, just shot my own discourse down in flames. Guess that's me off the Christmas card list for another year!
However, the song itself is superb - I love it. thanks for putting it up, and I look forward to hearing more!

It's brilliant, and it sounds like Silver Sun, and it's new and therefore I'm in raptures.
I do agree to some extent with Nick, though. When I first heard the piano bit, I thought I'd accidentally opened another MySpace page in another window. But maybe that was just because it was too loud in the mix, rather than too different.
I want to know what the D... stands for.
Can't wait to hear the other demos!

Myspace heavily truncates names in the audio player, as I've found out from running Clearlake's one. "D" will stand for "Demo", at a guess.
I really like the interloping piano, whilst agreeing that it may sound better coming in at the same volume as the rest of the song, rather than double!

I'm not so sure about the song as a whole, but I do like the guitar licks, the way the song ends and the piano break...I'd like to hear the piano continue on into an epic build-up of guitars.

Yes - the piano bit is stupid. But occasionally you do need to have a bit of fun...........

I wouldn't say stupid, but I agree with having a bit of fun. My life is far too serious at the mo, so thanks for the opportunity to check out the new track.
Any more where that came from?

Psh, see what happens when I don't make an appearance for a couple of weeks...
Bloody good show chaps. I kinda like the way the piano bit slaps you out of nowhere, innit.

Sounds just like one of the old bootleg tracks.
Speaking of which, is there any chance of releasing Disappear Here / Dad's Weird Dream demo albums?

Neither were recorded as 'full band' albums so I'd be surprised if any conventional demos exist. Could be wrong...

oh, i really really like this!
it's sort of a bit off-kilter, like a spinning top that's building up. i can sort of hear the jellyfish in there, somewhere.
i really really really like the piano. because it reminds me a lot of a really ace game i like (which has a sort of similar noise - have a look -
http://www.k2xl.com/games/boomshine/ )
it's unmistakeably silver sun, but it's silver sun with a tequila sunrise instead of a tequila slammer. oops. i nearly typed slapper then.

Love it...after all it is Silver Sun, and nobody does it better.
Wether it be a polished recording or as this is a rough demo, no other band gives me that same fuzzy warm rush inside i get from listening to Silver Sun.
Piano bit does sound a bit odd but as pointed out only because of the mix.
Tryin to figure out which album it would be best suited on .... I recon DH, even though a bit in the chorus reminds me of Facts of Life.
God I can't wait for the next album.......
