Title: This Forum Is Dying.......
Description: .....with a whimper!
Nick - September 25, 2007 11:53 AM (GMT)
We appear to be approaching an Apathy Meltdown situation! I think we need news of forthcoming releases, gigs, singles, downloads, breakfast menus, ANYTHING!!!!
Somebody must know something new on the Silver Sun front?????
Please???? :(
Damian - September 25, 2007 02:08 PM (GMT)
Well, there was talk of a new album out in November, and that now appears to be next year. So I guess we just blabber away until then... at least, unlike a few years back, we know there will be a record rather than speculating that there might!
It's probably the website that needs updating more than the forum...
Jayem - September 25, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
I talked to Ste recently via Xbox Live (which I now can't do any more 'cos the feckin' uni's blocked it, growl grumble etc) and he said he's gonna get in contact with James soon and see what's occurring...
I'm still here, checking in occasionally and stuff, I just find it hard to think of anything to say.
Stuart Brackpool - September 26, 2007 11:45 AM (GMT)
To pass the time how about we break off into teams, form Silver Sun tribute bands and have a competition to find the least awful among us? Can anybody sing the high notes?

High notes a speciality. I can do very high, very low, and nowt much in between.
Philonski - September 26, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
Alex H - September 26, 2007 10:07 PM (GMT)
In that case I'll take Damian on drums and high notes, Josh on guitar and harmonica and Lazyhour on guitar and the notes Damian can't do.
I think we're going to win!
Philonski - September 27, 2007 07:44 AM (GMT)
Damn, you've got lots of good ones. Can I have Bracket for backing vocals?
Not sure what I'll be doing... utterly talentless.
Can I borrow Lazyhour to design the sleeve for ours?
Alex H - September 27, 2007 09:05 PM (GMT)
I'm sure we could come to an arrangement with the record company for a release.
Pete - September 28, 2007 05:19 AM (GMT)
Has nobody taken Kiosk yet? He's on my team!
Philonski - September 28, 2007 08:34 AM (GMT)
Ste can write my teams' lyrics (if he's not too busy playing computer games). And it goes without saying that I'm having Alex to make our video.

I'm getting The Samurai Seven in on backing vocals, if they're still about...

Did they ever frequent this board? I think we're only allowed to have people from the board. Adjudicator? Stuart?
If you're going down those lines, I'll have Grass~Show on my team please - one of them used to pop up here every now and then.
Jayem - September 28, 2007 08:53 PM (GMT)
Boo, nobody wants me and my bass playing... skills... oh wait, that'd be why.
Nick - September 28, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
I've got Alex, and since he's the one that's posted all of the guitar tabs for SS songs on the forum, I believe that's one nil to team Nick!
Oh, we also have the original, authenticated guitar from the immediate video. Two nil
And his photos have been used by James on the website. Three nil
And Mrs Nick stole Richard (Bass)'s set list from the Louisiana, and he had to ask for it back so he knew what to play next. Four nil
Me? I'll do the vocals. Oh, four one? Fair enough.
And I asked James to send Alex a Neo wave t-shirt for his 21st, which he did. Five one, and it's not even half time!
Game on, suckers!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah? I'll have Tokyo Adventures, then. "FTW", as they say on the Internet. (which doesn't mean anything rude)

Five Tuneful Wizards?
Nick - September 29, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)
FTW????? Fiji Trounced Wales???????
Sorry, you'll have to do better than that.
It's about as solid as a Welsh Fly Half's tackles!!!!
I also have the plectrum James used at the 05/05/05 gig at the rescue rooms in Nottingham (Six - one)
And I gave Kiosk and Jish a hand made badge commemorating the gig.
(We're reaching the "ya, boo sucks" stage now, I feel
BRING IT ON!!!!!! B)

Judge rules...no-one who isn't registered on the board on the day this thing started!
I'll be the one in the corner on my own with my drums bemoaning the fact I can't sing. And unless I get a Silver Sun shirt sharpish (awkward to say but alliterative!) no-one will believe I'm a fan. I'm quite envious reading about all your booty and artefacts. If there's a pianist/singer out there how about you and I do cabaret versions of SS songs?
levcore - September 30, 2007 08:47 PM (GMT)
what, does no one want me? not only can i play pretty much all silver sun songs on guitar 9and sing em), i also started the silver sun appreciation society on facebook!! Kudos please!
Seriously though, 'A Lick and A promise' should be recording now if we're to believe what james told me via myspace a lil while back. i did post it up here on the boards a few threads down i believe...
levcore - September 30, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
yeash it's in the thread titled 'blimey'. He says he hopes to have half of it finished by september and the other half by november, so there ya go!

The album's out next year now...
lazyhour - October 9, 2007 02:42 PM (GMT)
I do a pretty tasty rendition of Golden Skin on the guitar.
Just thought I'd throw that in. Form a queue.

I got in first. You're on my team.
I stick my tongue out in the general direction of everyone else. Like this:
:P
psycho_phil - October 9, 2007 07:01 PM (GMT)
I'll DJ between the warring tribute bands, since nobody has picked be for their team :)
Philonski - October 10, 2007 12:49 PM (GMT)
Exsqueeeeeeze me, but lazyhour I'm afraid you'd already been bagsied by Alex H (guitar) and me (sleeve artwork). Damian, you should be ashamed of yourself. Put your tongue away.
pixie - October 10, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
I want Psyhco Phil and Levcore.
We'll easily be the best-looking group.
I'm so pretty!
Nick - October 10, 2007 08:29 PM (GMT)
I'm bagsying Sweet G to review your bands!
GAME, SET AND MATCH!!!!!

LOL We're doomed!
Damian - October 11, 2007 01:24 PM (GMT)
Neither of the bands are going to be any good because they've both SOLD OUT already.
:D
moopymoogle - October 13, 2007 04:55 PM (GMT)
i'm going to start my own breakaway band. which, er, does not include breakdancing. it will play music a la silver sun but there will never be a gig, because it would be me recording layers of noise into a computer. just lots of mp3s to download and things.
my band will be called "shilver shun". oh yes.
can i come to watch everyone else play their music and poke their tongues out though? :)
kiosk - October 17, 2007 04:43 PM (GMT)

I'm pretty sure someone baggied you above, but if not then I will.
I don't get the whole 'forum dying' thing though. There's no Silver Sun activity at the minute, there will be next year. That's about the sum of things isn't it?
Still listen to the Kiosk album quite a bit by the way...
Nick - October 17, 2007 07:31 PM (GMT)
"This forum is dying" was started by me to bring people like Kiosk and Sweet G back to life again, cos we were down to around half a dozen regular contributors keeping the faith.Even my own son has been too busy (really) to maintain a level of contribution.
So......this forum is dying? Well it has been, but a kick up the @rse can work wonders. As Hurricane Smith sang back in the 70's......
"Don't let it die....."
(Making babies kiosk????? Any news????)

I stuck it on the other day as well, still sounding good. You can't kill rock and roll.
lordmelbury - October 18, 2007 09:33 AM (GMT)
Mr Broad here
I know it seems a little empty on the SS front at the mo but it's not for want of trying. There's masses of stuff in the vault, it's just I want to do the next album with the band and they are so busy it's hard to get them all together. Logistics, logistics.
Sorry!
Ste - October 18, 2007 11:17 AM (GMT)
And don't panic, the site and forum will be here well.. forever hopefully..
I'm still lurking round, but there's not much to post at the moment though think hopefully next year things will kick off again and everyone will re-appear again.
Maybe its time for another probably long-overdue annual(ish) Silver Sun top ten voting thing?

Are you telling us that the other band members need to eat and have a roof over the heads? It's a bally outrage. Tell them to get their priorities straight. :D
Nick - October 18, 2007 12:21 PM (GMT)
Aha! since Mr Broad has now entered the ring, and no-one else has bagsy-ed him, that makes our team as invincible as the England football team.....oh, hang on a minute..................
Of course the forum will be around for a long time. It's also been good to see other contributors back on board again. There must be SOMETHING interesting to talk about???? New Poll? Great idea! Any chance of a different slant? anyone any ideas???
Thanks for the update James, much appreciated news. It will keep interest on the up for the next few months.
Rock'n'Roll - phew!
