Title: Sky Blue Sky
Description: It's a Wilco album

Okay, most of you know I'm a bit of a diehard fan, but a bit like Ryan Adams, I don't play their stuff all of the time.Soooo, the new album.......
Well, it's okay. It's not a masterpiece, there's some trademark Wilco stuff on there, and there's some cracking stuff too. Would I recommend it? If you like Wilco, you won't be disappointed. If you don,t have any Wilco stuff, then Sky Blue Sky isn't the starting place. (Which, incidentally, is the materpiece that is the double live cd "Kicking Television")
So an hour later I've just read this and thought "what a crap review!" It's a mellow, laid back album with no discernible electronica to the fore. No doodlings on undefined synthesised bits"n"bobs that I witnessed at rock City last year. Simple chunes, harmonies, discernible(again! twice in a review!) verse chorus verse stuff that leg ends are made of. I think the three stars 9out of five) that the Guardian gave it was about right. (Mrs Nick reckons Jeff Tweedy sounds like the guy from the Thrills - I've just given her a quick time line of Wilco/Thrills!)
Me? I love it!

I quite liked Summerteeth, which was the only one of theirs that I've bought to date...

At the moment I'd say that compared to their other albums, it's most like Summerteeth. Whereas the last couple of albums have been experimental, I'm sort of glad they've gone back to their alt-country sound as AM has always been my favourite Wilco album. Like Nick says, Sky Blue Sky is quite laid back, there doesn't seem to be anything outstanding on it but it's a good, solid and pleasant listen.
I still don't have Kicking Television, though that will soon be rectified as I've just ordered it from BlahDVD.com for £5.99. :D
I'm wondering whether it's worth going to see The Thrills at my local venue soon. I saw them about four times before and after the debut album was released and they were pretty good live, but I haven't got into anything I've heard by them since. Jeff Tweedy sounds nothing like their vocalist though!

I'm going to see Wilco! Well, I haven't bought tickets yet, but I just found out they're playing in Manchester in November, it's about time I made it to one of their gigs I think. Perhaps they might even play something from A.M...

D'oh. They've cancelled their upcoming UK tour. Next time then...

I read it was about conflicts in the shedule of the tour. I saw Wilco in May, they were very good.
Wilco have said they'd return to UK soil in 2008, the current album has a very country feel to it. its pretty good.
My mate wanted me to go to Belgium to see them there, heard the venue was very good as well. I don't think they've cancelled the Euro dates.

Seeing them was a hilight - one of the Things To Do Before I Die!!!
And I love Sky Blue Sky still!
