Title: Pick Some Lyrics You Love!

levcore - March 5, 2007 11:26 PM (GMT)
Like the title says, pick some of James' most crazy/ enjoyable lyrical moments!

'i don't know when, but i'm happy to wait, it's a shame to be naked when you're lying in state, equipped with a bell and a periscope, but i fear it's all way too late'

'there's more lies in her eyes, than there's stars in the skies'

'six thousand pounds of thrust on your ample bust, just cannot be denied'

just to start the ball rolling...

"Im fine but I'm sad
Waiting on this'n'that
It's first base
Baby it's like right by the side of me
And when the magic comes to haunt you
Just about face-escape to my better castle space...yeah"

WTF it means I do not know but when I sing along to it if feels like some crazy mantra that leaves me with a big sh*t-eating grin on my face...

hey, i think you've mis quoted a couple of lyrics there. i thought it was 'madness' as opposed to 'magic' and 'castle state' rather than castle space'. if i'm wrong please correct me and call me a picky asshole :)

"there goes my life, here comes my school, there goes summer time"

I sing it every September...........

Looks long and hard at very hard to read lyric sheet, puzzled expression on face...

Yep it is madness, but it's also castle space, at least according to the album notes.
A score draw then? :P

Oh and I'll definitely second that lyric Nick!

On listening to This' n' That it sure sounds like "state". Drat!

On another note in-between Bad Haircut and Nobody there is some inter-band badinage. Someone (JB?) is heard to say mockingly "I wouldn't let it effect your performance".
I have brought people to their knees with my frequency of this utterance...
:D

inter-band badinage

You bloody star... I hereby resolve to use the word 'badinage' at least once a day.

Lyrical content, hmm-di-hmm. Ah yes, the talking nonsense has found its way into my typing, hurrah.

Er, yeah. I dunno. Silver Sun are generally pretty quotable so I can't really name one particular thang.

"two packets of crisps and a bounty....exchange of greetings, that was it, that's my relationship..."

"suicide was an option for me, you'd like to think it was for you, but I know better"

"let me out of this can of beans!"

"grow some hair...not unlike the Beta Band, get used to living off the land..."

erm, and the whole of Sunday Girl/Gurl. It is magnificence!

A few of my favourite lines/moments from the first album:

"We can skip through the small print stories 'bout how, we drink we will allow"

"So don't take a bus, don't take a train, don't take a car; just take the love-boat"

"Bull's blood for baby Jesus (Jesus Jesu-us!)"

Reverie158 - May 21, 2007 06:12 PM (GMT)
"I've seen you melt cheeses with your smile, bend spoons with your thighs, burn holes with your eyes"...

...just reminds me of a girl I used to know!

my favourite lyric of all time:

"We're humping on your TV, and killing your fish"

makes no sense.

and then she went and said how do you do karate?
without the use of legs?
and then she went and said where is your maserati?
this is a merry dance i'm being lead.

Ok I'm new to this so bare with me, but I can't help but love,

'The parking fines are mounting up
(And yes I'd like to make the tea)'

It's completely random and ever so slightly British.

and I'm copying from someone elses list but

'There's more lies in her eyes than there's stars in the skies'

just does it for me.

Just a quick question to anyone who might know, but when are these wonderful men touring next? I've never seen them live and this fact is causing me a great sadness.

I was just racking my brains for about 5 minutes, trying to work out which song that was from. I think it's about time somebody did another lyrics quiz again. I might put one together later.

I had no idea it was "parking fines../..tea", I always mumble along something like "No parking as far as I'm running along/And yes I'd like to make the teaM"!

The wonders of misinterpretation.

My faveret:

It might be a star where you are
But it's just the light of a passing car
You might be witnessing lights in the sky
But it's just a reason for the word why
6000 pounds of trust on your ample bust
Just cannot be denied
when I turned to you and looked right into your eyes
And said

You were never that far out baby
And I don't mind
She was the greatest girl in space and time
And you were never that far our baby
And I can't see
Why she said she just had to be free

It might be an alien conduit
But I think you've been conned into it
You might think that you're speaking in tongue
But on the ladder of life you're on the lower rungs
And when I feel your lust like a solar crust
Out burning in the sky
When I turned to you and looked right into your eyes
