Title: Comic Books!
Description: Into the rabbit hole if you please.

Anachronist - July 12, 2007 10:02 PM (GMT)
I don't know why. It was like a sudden onset of chicken pox or a rhinovirus. I suddenly got sucked back into the world of Comic books, and it's not gonna let go this time. I used to collect comics in elementary school (Sonic the Hedgehog FTW),but then I just started getting more into books. Now, though, Teen Titans have grabbed my attention. Did you know that Teen Titans Go!, a recent series, is gonna end soon? Only after 50 issues! That's, like, blasphemy! Yeah, so now I'm obsessed with Comics, and I think someone should start a comic book-esq RP in here. And I mean REAL Comics, not like Heroes, or Anime, I mean DC, Marvel, Spiderman, X-men, Justice Leauge, Teen Titans COMICS.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, so, um.....This post is so you guys can talk about Comics and stuff along that line. So, um, yeah.

KatanokiChaos - July 14, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)

Anachronist - July 15, 2007 01:06 AM (GMT)
Is it printed, posted, and sold at various comic shops all across the country? No. It's only available to people with a decent or better Internet connection.

KatanokiChaos - July 15, 2007 01:54 AM (GMT)
It is still counted as a comic. Printing is not a necessity for data transmission anymore.

Anachronist - July 16, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Okay, point being, I reallly don't have a point. So, new topic, um, okay so no one like comics but me. Great. But manga still counts as comics, so Ha!

Devking - July 18, 2007 02:01 AM (GMT)
Well, I guess it does, whilst comics do not count as manga. 0.o

So, basically the only comics that I'm interested in are the selections of manga and manga... American/whatever-type-of-comics-there-may-be-that-you-read comics don't really satisfy me, and to tell the truth, I think they're pretty plain... Oh well. I don't have anything against them, and I still read some from time to time that aren't manga, but I still prefer the Japanese-ness over all.

Anachronist - July 18, 2007 02:58 AM (GMT)
For me, it was my love of American Comics that led to my discovery of Anime and Manga. If it wasn't for Marvel, DC, and Archie, I wouldn'tve found Tokyopop and Dark Horse.

Devking - July 18, 2007 03:09 AM (GMT)
Heh. I somehow stumbled upon them all at around the same time, so I can't tell. I actually think manga got me into reading...

Anachronist - July 18, 2007 03:41 AM (GMT)
Wow. I can jsut imagine in some class somewhere, there's a discussion about their first books, and a kid says "Well, my first book was Naruto volume 1..."

That would crack me up.

Devking - July 18, 2007 04:11 AM (GMT)
Other than that being highly impossible, I would smack that kid and yell, "Domo will eat you!" Yea. I don't know why, though.

Anachronist - July 18, 2007 05:03 AM (GMT)
Nah, trust me. It would, and probably will, happen.

Devking - July 18, 2007 05:22 AM (GMT)
Well, for one, Naruto isn't that popular.
Two, your parents wouldn't get that for you to read.
Three, it's too hard if you've never read before.
And five, they wouldn't know of Naruto until they've read at least SOMETHING.

Anachronist - July 18, 2007 02:56 PM (GMT)
Okay, well, One, I meant any sort of Manga
Two, My parents would
Three, It could be the first thing you like to read
And FOUR, Naruto is an Anime on Cartton Network now, so they could know of it before reading anything. My brother, who is five, knows about Naruto. And he hasn't fully read a book yet.

Devking - July 18, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
Okay... 0o0

I need to admit that that's not even a bit odd, but really odd.

But okay.

Hey wait, he's five but hasn't read a book yet? Don't you hafta read for school requirements once you enter?

Anachronist - July 18, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
He just turned five. And he knows his phonics. He just need to know how to read, which he does.

Devking - July 18, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
And now to buy him a Naruto novel, eh?

Anachronist - July 19, 2007 02:29 AM (GMT)
I was thinking One Piece, myself.

KatanokiChaos - July 23, 2007 02:19 PM (GMT)
XD No. Buy him Godchild.

SCAR HIM FOR LIFE.

Or, Angel Sanctuary.

Just make sure he doesn't end up falling in love with a relative.

'Cause that's how we roll.

XD

Devking - July 23, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
Hmmm...
So that's what he means by you being a bit scary at times...

Anyways, I personally would say, "Let him read off the forum." But --

-forgets what to say next-

So, comic books... Anyone ever been to a convention?

Anachronist - July 23, 2007 06:33 PM (GMT)
Oooh! Ooooh! Me! Me!

Actually I've never been to a convention. Wish I could, though. I would be, like, that guy who goes around with a camera and trying to overtly take pictures of cosplayers and failing horribly.

Devking - July 23, 2007 06:39 PM (GMT)
Okay... A bit odd, but okay...

As for me, I don't really feel the urge to go to a convention... don't know why though, 'cause with my black-hair-with-orange-flying-everywhere-around-it, I really look like a genuine anime character.

But I don't see why that would bring me to a convention.

KatanokiChaos - July 24, 2007 12:21 AM (GMT)
If I stay long enough, we can go to Metrocon together next year, Anachronist.

Anachronist - July 24, 2007 12:49 AM (GMT)
That would be awesome, thanks! Although, I have the feeling something will go wrong. But then again, it could be negativity rearing it's familiar head.

Plus, there are several other conventions during the year. My friends Eric and Jason went to like four or five during the school year. Not sure what they're called, however.

Devking - July 24, 2007 02:52 AM (GMT)
And... convention talk begins...

In this case, I have no idea what that'll be like. Also, it's great that someone's being invited to a convention by someone else. It's just what the world needed.

In other news, Devking goes mad by speaking nonsense in public. He claims, "I don't know if it was sarcasm or not." That silly mongoose.

Anachronist - July 24, 2007 05:29 AM (GMT)
Witnesses at the scene were reported to be traumatized, humiliated, insulted, and a bit turned on by it....

Sorry, I think I've been hanging around Lainey a bit too much...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cons are great, but for some reason, people seem to forget about hygene while being in the vicinity of a convention.

Devking - July 24, 2007 05:44 AM (GMT)
What do you mean they forget about hygiene? And who's turned on by it? >.>

----------------------------------

Moments later, a crazed man emerged from the crowd, AEG in hand and computer in mouth. We caught this before he started attacking the citizens: "Mmrph."

Anachronist - July 24, 2007 06:08 AM (GMT)
Most people at cons tend to smell, due to the fact that they believe bathing will strip them of valuable time that could be spent at the con.

--------------------------------------------
We caught it, and we're not exactly sure what to do with it. He also robbed an Apple store, liquor store, and video game store, all in the span of 11 seconds.

Devking - July 24, 2007 06:10 AM (GMT)
Oh! There goes the anime con with loathes of stinky people.

------------------------------

Wow. That's all I can say.

Anachronist - July 25, 2007 12:31 AM (GMT)
So, new comic book related question:
Who is your favorite comic book superhero/superheroine? (Not supervillans yet.)

KatanokiChaos - July 25, 2007 03:19 AM (GMT)
AOSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.

Devking - July 25, 2007 03:37 AM (GMT)
AS expected.

For myself, I can't really say. I've never followed a series so --

I just don't really feel attached to any character.

KatanokiChaos - July 27, 2007 09:42 PM (GMT)
Watch Heroes.

Then you may join me in my obsessive Sylar/Mohinder love.

Anachronist already is... He just doesn't know it yet. BWAHAHAHAHA-

TWIGLET - July 29, 2007 02:34 AM (GMT)
Stop. Think. Tylenol.

U need one to stop watching shows like they were candy.

And don't be like Angrite and say: Dude...W.T.F.?

Anachronist - July 29, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
Dude...W.T.F?

Devking - July 29, 2007 04:51 AM (GMT)
Again, I'm not going to say... anything.

-implodes-

Dude...W.T--is stabbed--

-------------------------

And just to share personal insight so that this doesn't look like simple spam,

TV is candeh.

Heroes isn't that good of a show.

I wonder why I keep bringing everyone down.

Anachronist - July 29, 2007 07:32 PM (GMT)
Because someone has to, and if it's not me, it's you.

Devking - July 30, 2007 01:35 AM (GMT)
Okay.

I'm not kidding. That one word is my post. But just to make this not look like spam, although everyone should know it is by now, (xD) I'm going to make up a paragraph about something completely random, like why we've come on such a random talk when this thread is obviously about comic books and manga... So, let me be the one to bring everyone down again and say, "Let's get back to the subj--*gets kicked*

Anachronist - July 30, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
Ha ha!

Well, how about talking about......*stalling and looking for a topic* Aha! "What superpower would you want to have?"

Yeah, let's go with that.

KatanokiChaos - August 2, 2007 03:52 AM (GMT)
Seeing how things work.

Oh yeah, I totally went there.

Anachronist - August 2, 2007 03:53 AM (GMT)
I would go with either being able to suck oxygen out of the air, or probability manipulation.
