Title: Example: Grey Wolf and Aoshi Training Together
Description: Come here to see an example of training.

flyingarcanine - August 16, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
((While this is still training, this is going to be an example for those of you who still don't get how to train. I will be making a few comments here and there. If you don't want to read the actual training but you're still confused, just read the comments in the parenthesis, they may help.))
Shinomori Aoshi walked through the forest quickly, watching as the day dimmed to night. Finally, he arrived at his training area, and began his katas.
That is, until he heard a rustle in the bushes, watching as Himura Grey Wolf walked out from the trees. "... What are you doing here?" He asked her, knowing there could only be one reason.
((Normally, you wouldn't automatically make the other character come out, this is called autoing and is a form of god moding. However, they're both my characters. So, I can control Grey Wolf however I want. Also, note how I create a small story and have the characters training already aquainted beforehand.))
"... You don't know how amazing it is to watch you when you're training," Grey Wolf replied, her eyes wandering from the hands holding his kodachi. ((Ok, ok, I'm a freak for Aoshi. Heh. That has nothing to do with training, but...)) "... However, simply watching bores me," she whispered, drawing her katana.
"... You say you're bored of watching, Himura-san... but I see that you still haven't removed your eyes from me." He had said it in his normal monotone, as if he had been talking about something irrelivant, but Grey Wolf knew him far better than that.
"Of course not." She got into position, standing a few meters away from him. Then, she ran forward before stopping.
Just as Fuji had stopped before Hiko, she had frozen at the entrance to Aoshi's zone. Was she scared of him?
Or was she scared of harming the very man she'd sworn to protect?
((Ok, sorry for stopping you right before the fight starts. But, note that the RPer hasn't held anything back. In an RPG, you should do your best, and beyond that, to become your character. After all, what worth is an RP if you're going to hold yourself back and only half enjoy it? Also note how much the RPer compliments herself. XP))
... He was not hers, and he would never be hers.
The katana clashed with the kodachis, as a power struggle began. Aoshi was obviously much stronger than her when it came to mere power, but as she started slipping back, she quickly ducked, pulling the katana downward and making Aoshi's upper body start to fall forward when the force of Grey's katana no longer opposed that movement. He looked down to see Grey Wolf's katana heading towards his gut, and quickly spun out of the way on one foot.
What the hell was with him tonight?
Grey quickly raised her katana to block him when he slammed his kodachi down upon her, but she realized too late - she hadn't been the target at all as he slammed his second kodachi onto her katana before she could react, and she watched in horror as the katana broke in two.
She quickly jumped back, now holding half a katana that gave her less range than his kodachi. And she definitely wasn't used to the light weight.
"... Only possible use for it would be..." Half-heartedly, she threw what was left of her katana at Aoshi, him side stepping as she knew he would.
"... Give up, Grey Wolf. You've no chance of winning."
He looked at her for a moment before his eyes widened very slightly. He'd called her by her first name.
"... You know I can't do that, Aoshi."
What the hell was with them both? Was it the fact that it was nearly full moon? Aoshi doubted that but said nothing.
After all, a part of him was enjoying the fact that she'd finally called him by his given name again, instead of the formal 'Shinomori-san' that he'd even became used to hearing.
He slowly raised his kodachi, knowing Grey Wolf better than to think she'd give up. Hell, he might've even insulted her. "Gomen nasai(I'm sorry). Stupid question."
Instead of saying the normal 'It's ok,' or 'No problem,' Grey Wolf replied with a quick "Duh," followed by a slight smirk.
Which was quickly added on with "N-Not meaning I think you're stupid..."
"... Let's end this."
"Hai."
They flew at each other, and the battle drew to a close, Grey slamming onto the ground hard, Aoshi holding his kodachi to her throat.
"This match is over."
"Kill me, then."
It had come out without her meaning it. All her years as a warrior had caused certain things to become instinct to her.
And killing the loser of a fight was one of them.
It wasn't until she heard the kodachis slide into the sheath had she realized that he'd pulled away. He looked down at her for a moment before getting off her, allowing her to move freely again. He began walking away, and only one thing kept Grey Wolf from calling after him.
She, too, had insulted him. She had suggested it was possible for him to truly hurt her.
She walked back to the Aoiya, her temporary residence, in silence, not even stopping by his room to say good night.

Aoshi walked through the forest on the same route he had the day before, but he was considerably more irritable than the day before.
"... Kill me, then?! What, is she insane! How could she even..."
On the outside, he showed nothing. Except his eyes. His eyes were darker than normal, even for him.
He stopped when he saw the katana still lying on the ground.
"... Guess I'll have to bring this back to her." He scowled as he picked up the katana, heading back down the path.
Yet, a part of him smiled.

((Usually, you and the other person you're training with would take turns posting like in normal RPing. However, both characters were mine, so, why double post? Also, if you're training on your own, you can make up characters to fight against. After this, I would post a reply saying that I'd added 200 Power Level to each character. Also, if you want, you can continue with the same training topic. Just, remember to only train once a day. If an admin still hasn't added the PL, you can still train for the day. If they start taking forever, IM me at:

((From here on out, this is just me training.))

No doubt, she knew he was angry, as she looked up at the ceiling from her bed. She had given him an emotional blow that was way below the belt. Three words, yeah, but, given the way they'd been after the bakumatsu...
Way below the belt. Especially since she knew very well how much she had meant to him. Hell, maybe still meant to him. Even suggesting such a thing... Kill me, then.
"Kill me, then! God, what kind of a @#%$ idiot says something like that to their best friend-"
"Ahem."
No. NO. NO!!!! NO, FOR KAMI-SAMA'S MOTHER @#%$ SA-
Yeah, it was Aoshi. Wonderful.
"... Konnichi- wha?" She said as he held out the katana to her. Then something clicked in her mind. "Oh!" She said, quickly taking the katana and setting it down. She got off the bed, walking to a cabinet and opening it, showing four katanas. She quickly examined each one, before choosing one and keeping it in hand, a wakizachi already in her belt.
"... I... I'm sorry, Shinomori-san."
There was silence from Aoshi, as if he hadn't heard her, besides a short, "Take better care of your weapons while sparring."
"... I'm so-"
"I heard you the first time, Himura-san."
"... Do you acce-"
"No, I don't."
Again, there was silence at Grey Wolf's painfully blunt rejection.
"... Fight me, Shinomori-san. Then, if I win, accept my apology."
He paused, considering this for a moment, before speaking, "And if I win?"
"... Then you can think what you will of me. I'll leave, and return to my home in Tokyo."
He seemed to consider this, as if weighting his chances, then quickly saying, "Fine," and walking out the door. Grey Wolf quickly followed him, closing the shoji behind her.
There was nothing but absolute silence as they walked down the path to the training area, each person lost in thought as they approached the impending fight.
"... If she doesn't do her absolute best... if she doesn't aim to kill... Then there's no way Grey Wolf can beat me. Not a damned chance.
But will she go that far?" Aoshi stole a glance at Grey Wolf, and she, too, seemed to be lost in thought.
And then, they emerged at the training area, both of them a mere step from the entrance. With one last breath, they walked in.
Aoshi was the immediate subject of a powerful battojutsu, nearly flying back down the path as he barely drew the kodachi in time. He quickly drew the second as he blocked with the first, plunging it at Grey Wolf. However, she easily ducked out of the way and slammed down her katana on his arm hard, though using the blunt side as to not cut his arm off. He cried out in pain as his hand automatically let go of the kodachi, his arm definitely broken. However, he had little time to waste as she quickly came to uppercut him with the katana. He stepped back, the katana making a threatening swishing sound and cutting into the air only an inch from his chin, searing a few of his raven colored hairs. He jumped back, trying to get distance between him and Grey Wolf, watching as he sheathed his kodachi in the sheath for her katana.
It was then, that he realized it. He could have killed Grey Wolf at any time. However, he had absolutely nothing on the hitokiri that stood before him, ready to take his life.
"Are you afraid of me, Shinomori-san? Is the Okashira of the Oniwabanshu afraid of a 13 year old girl?
... From the skill I've shown you, you should have nothing to fear just yet, Shinomori-san."
The inherant sadism in her words proved to him that this was absolutely, without a doubt, the hitokiri within.

"... I fear no one, Himura-san. Least of all you." He spoke it with bitterness at the returned hitokiri. God, how he hated when Grey Wolf was ready to kill. Killing didn't suit the girl, pure as she had been.
Blood had tainted her soul.
He gripped his kodachi tightly, rage seeping into his once calm face. Oh, how he wanted to kill her. He hated what Saito had done to her, turning her to the Shinsengumi's version of a shadow assassin, and forever ruining her soul. He wanted to kill her, yet he knew he never could. He could never kill the one he cherished so much.
Wait...
Or... was it possible that he could remove the taint? He cared for her... so much...
Could that be enough?
"... Here I come." And she flew at him, truly different from the girl Aoshi knew.
He might not be able to save her, but he at least had to try.
He parried the initial strike, but she spun, bringing her sword pivoting around his kodachi and her hilt flying at his shoulder. He brought down his left kodachi(Grey Wolf having thrown it back, wanting an even fight) at her while stepping to the right, but she ducked to her left and raised her katana, forcing his kodachi up and leaving his lower body exposed.
She stood a few feet away, watching as he struggled to get up after her powerful kick to the crotch. "That was... a serious... breach of the... code of conduct... while sparring..." he barely was able to say as he slowly stood, shaking like crazy.
"This isn't a mere spar."
"... I thought as much," he whispered, looking up at her.
And he flew at her. His rage had taken over, readying him to strike her down. She blocked the initial strike, but Aoshi send a kick flying at her unprotected left side. She blocked it with her left arm, it becoming numb from the sheer power of the technique.
She knew that she wouldn't be able to block the second kodachi if he used a stabbing-
"Bloody hell?!" She thought, bringing her katana up to block after he brought the kodachi down at her, going for her head. She quickly jumped back, reaching the outside of his zone.
"Correct me if I'm wrong... but you're holding back, aren't you, Shinomori-san?"
His nod infuriated her. He'd had the chance... hell, to kill her, but he had held back, as if she were a mere child. She was no mere child! She was the shadow assassin of the Shinsengumi, heir to Saito Hajime, and-
"And..."
It was then, she realized, just how much she was tearing him apart. It was finally apparent to her, with one look in his eyes.
He was in love with her. It was just wrong that they would never come to be.
And it was over. The clash between Zero Gatotsu and Rokuren had been... seconds, at most, but it had impacted their lives forever, as Grey Wolf lay there in her own blood.
"No! No!!" Aoshi cried out as he fell to the ground next to her, reaching for her shirt in a desperate plea to god that she might have some chance of surviving if she received aid in time.
She grabbed his hand to stop him. "... It's too late..."
"Why! Why did you hold back!" he cried out at her, refusing to believe he'd dealt the final blow to the one person he loved the most.
"... I... I love you, too, Aoshi..."
He was unable to do anything, even breathe, as she whispered that statement.
He'd had a chance at happiness, but he'd fucked it all up, once again. And, with a blow of the northern wind, she was gone.

It had taken a week before Megumi, working with Saito's aide, had said that Grey Wolf would most likely survive, with a lot of rest. Four times, Megumi had thought she'd lost Grey Wolf, each rending a new hole into Aoshi's already torn soul. He could do nothing but stay by her side and hope for the best, praying that god would give him another chance to fix all the mistakes he'd so stupidly made.
"You think this is real funny, don't you, Shinomori?" The words that came from Saito's mouth snapped him out of his thoughts.
"... What?"
"You heard me. You've probably been getting a huge laugh out of this."
"What?!"
"Saito-" But Saito put his hand up to silence Megumi.
"... If you really loved her, why did you try to kill her?"
"I didn't! I thought she was going to kill ME! I never thought she'd hold back!"
"Hold back... You're a liar. A god damned liar."
Aoshi could only watch as Saito drew his katana, his own kodachi behind Saito, next to the door.
"I... I didn't try to kill Grey Wolf."
"Damare," Saito whispered, running at Aoshi.
"... Don't do this."
Aoshi's words were unheard as Saito's katana cut into him, causing him to fly through the shoji and into the hall.
"That's enough, Saito," was a voice behind said person, as Saito turned to see Grey Wolf, sitting up in bed.
He quickly ran to Grey Wolf, trying to get her to lay back. "You're ill, Grey Wolf, you shouldn't-"
"Get out of my way, Saito," She spoke as she stood, walking out into the hall and looking down at Aoshi, who's face was contorted in pain. "Such a fool you are, Saito, harming an innocent man because of rage." She slowly kneeled down to be next to Aoshi, who was looking up at her, his eyes slightly hazed and widened with pain.
"... This is going to hurt," Grey Wolf spoke as she moved to the katana, carefully gripping it.
"W-Wait, what're you gonna... Grey Wolf, no- AHHHHHH!" Aoshi cried out in pain as Grey Wolf pulled the katana from the area just below his shoulder. She quickly pulled him up into her arms when he started crying from the sheer pain, whispering words of comfort to his shaking form.
"Move, Grey Wolf."
She slowly turned to look at Saito at his sharp words. "Or what, father?"
"Or I'll be forced to harm you, which I do not want."
"You, harm me? When I nearly killed you such a short time ago? Over my dead... wha... what..." Grey Wolf slowly went to the ground, a sudden spasm of pain occuring across her wounds.
"When you're so weak, you try to boast as if I'm the one in danger? Your arrogance is despicable.
... As I said, move." Saito wasted no time in drawing Grey Wolf's katana, which he'd taken from the room. Grey Wolf quickly grabbed the katana that Saito had stabbed Aoshi with, putting it straight out in front of her, waiting for his attack.
Her eyes went wide, and she dropped the katana, running at Saito, her surprize catching him off guard as she tackled him to the ground, a few shuriken barely missing him.
"Leave Aoshi-sama alone. Or I'll kill you."
"... Hello, Misao," Grey Wolf spoke to the one girl who loved Aoshi as much as she did.
"You think you have the right to speak to me as an equal after what you and your father've done?"
Grey Wolf quickly looked at Aoshi, who'd fallen unconscious. "... I could say the same to you after what your Okashira had done."
"Actually, no."
"And why's that?"
"Because his life has more value."
Misao had no idea just how much she'd thrown Grey Wolf off with that simple statement. Who was Misao to know that Grey Wolf suffered from low self-confidence coupled with high amounts of pride, though?
"Sh-shut up," Grey Wolf quickly whispered, her eyes showing traces of gold.
"Not a chance. Worthless little girl."
"Look who the hell's talking!" Grey Wolf cried out in a sudden bout of anger. "You're the same height as me, and you're 16! And you have the maturity of a two year old! And WHO THE HELL are you to decide that my life isn't even worth calling a life, egotist! You act as if you're some divine power, as if you're so much better than the rest of us! If I were you, I'd shut the hell up before I made more of an ass of myself than I already had, you arrogant bitch!"
Kunai and katana flew as they clashed, Misao cutting into one of Grey Wolf's wounds from her fight with Aoshi before Grey Wolf rammed the blunt side of Saito's katana into Misou's shoulder, both of them jumping back. Grey Wolf stumbled when she landed, gripping the wound tightly in an attempt to stop the blood flow, Misao clutching her certainly dislocated shoulder gingerly. Grey Wolf quickly got up, balancing with one hand on the floor, jumping away when kunai flew at her. She ran towards Misao, dodging kunai as she made her way towards her opponent.
Blood flew from her mouth as the wounds spasmed in pain, the one Misao struck drenching Grey Wolf's shirt with crimson as she fell to the ground. Grey Wolf was truly lucky that Misao hadn't attacked her due to her obvious weakness. Saito wasted no time in running to Grey Wolf, turning her over and quickly pulling off her shirt, checking the wounds.
"I'm not moving," Was Saito's whispered reply to the kunai held to his throat. "And I know you're not going to kill me."
"And why's that?"
The pained voice behind Misao surprized her as it spoke, "Because you're not going to harm Saito-san. And that's an order." She spun around and was met with the sight of Aoshi's half-conscious form.
"Aoshi-sama!" She cried, quickly running over to him.
"I'm fine, I'm fine."
"But you've been stabbed, of course you're-"
"She comes first."
There hadn't been a time in Aoshi's life that he'd seen Misao's eyes that wide.
So he did love her more.
Misao began to move down the hallway, before hearing his whispered, "I'm sorry, Misao."
Without another word, she opened the shoji to her room, walked in, and slammed it shut.
