Title: Layla (who doesn't like Clapton)
Description: mouse and whoever
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 03:38 AM (GMT)
It's fall only it's not. It's not acting right. So it's a bright warm day in the park, just like it would be at the height of glorious summer. Josh has taken Terry to the park. The little guy can do baby slides with help which he likes. He gets tuckered out rather quickly though.
They've found a spot in the shade. Josh has stretched out a blanket for them and Terry is having some nice organic baby juice while Josh plays the accoustic guitar he brought along.
He sings quietly to the little guy, Terry digs it.
What were you doing were you lonely.....

It's fall only it's not. But it's lovely. Mickey loves it. She misses the perpetual dry desert heat of her home, and Bayfield can't replicate it. It's always too humid in Bayfield, or too crisp, or too polluted. But it's nice to at least have the heat.
It's early in the afternoon, before she has to go to work, and she's taken the girls to the park. Tracey and Henri. They're over on the playscape, climbing on the monkey frame, and Mickey's spread out on a blanket on the grass, much like Josh is. She's reading an Anne Rice novel, and wearing truly obscenely short denim cut-offs and a skin baring white tee-shirt. Her long dark hair is pinned up on her head. She doesn't seem to be paying a whole lot of attention to the kids, but they aren't doing anything bad, just clambering around.
It's the sound of the music that makes Mickey look up, and then she sees Josh. Josh who was ever so nice to her and Henri. She gives him a smile and a wave.
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 03:50 AM (GMT)
He smiles and nods but obviously both hands are full of guitar. Terry however waves and burbles, it's fae, strangely he picks lots up from Andrea.
mouse - September 5, 2010 03:52 AM (GMT)
Mickey recognises the language. Her brother lapses back into it on the odd occasion, mostly when he's pissed off and swearing. She can't speak it herself. She's an awful faerie. Totally useless really. It's entirely genetic and not at all cultural.
Terry's a cutie though, so Mickey smiles and waves back at him.
"Hey baby," she's got an American accent and a pretty voice even if she can't speak the faerie language.
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 03:54 AM (GMT)
Josh is just glad the kid doesn't know any demon yet. Terry giggles and manages a very eager "Hi." for her.
Josh laughs and goes right on singing. He unlike his sister, doesn't think it's sinfully decadent to sing in public and enjoy yourself.
mouse - September 5, 2010 03:56 AM (GMT)
"I'm too old for you sweetie," Mickey tells him, teasingly. "But you're a really charmer aren't ya?"
She doesn't really expect him to understand but it's good for little kids to hear people talking. If they can. And he's such a sweet looking little kid. He looks like he must be Josh's. She wonders who the lucky lady is.
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 03:59 AM (GMT)
"He's a flirt." Josh offers. He keeps playing, but is done the song now. "How ya been?"
mouse - September 5, 2010 04:00 AM (GMT)
"Been good," Mickey agrees. She has been. Life's sad and tiring but she's managing. The kids are good. That's what matters really, isn't it? "How 'bout you? This little casanova yours?"
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 04:02 AM (GMT)
"Mmm, mostly, he's a time share baby, the neighbor girls steal him, my ex gets him on most weekends." Josh says. Really Terry is the only kid under one he knows with two lesbian girlfriends. Those girls really are crazy about the kid.
mouse - September 5, 2010 04:03 AM (GMT)
"Cute," Mickey says. "He looks a bit like you though, huh? Very handsome," she winks. She's so used to being flirty. Gets her good tips. And Josh is handsome, she's just noticed that. It somehow escaped her the first time she met him, she was too nervous probably.
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 04:06 AM (GMT)
"He's adopted. Got my charms anyway. Lucky boy." Josh smiles back.
mouse - September 5, 2010 09:52 AM (GMT)
Mickey glances back at the kids on the playscape. Henri looks just like her mother, when you get past the wings, but she's got charm all of her own.
"Lucky boy."
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 10:02 AM (GMT)
"You wanna sit here and watch the jungle gym?" Josh offers.
mouse - September 5, 2010 10:12 AM (GMT)
Mickey considers this offer. If it's a ruse it's an acceptable one. Josh does have a better view of the jungle gym. She smiles and comes over.
"Okay."
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 10:18 AM (GMT)
He's still strumming at the guitar. Terry watches Mickey.
mouse - September 5, 2010 10:19 AM (GMT)
Mickey gives him a little wave and starts making dumb faces at him. Mickey does great stupid faces. She might be able to get a part time job as a gremlin or something.
"What a cutie," she tells Terry, sticking her tongue at him. "So how come he speaks fae?"
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 10:24 AM (GMT)
"He picks stuff up. I think it's Andrea that speaks it to him. I suspect she's probably close to if not half or something." Josh has encountered Adel once. She sure as hell smells faery if you ask Josh, with a splash of demon.
mouse - September 5, 2010 10:25 AM (GMT)
"Oh you clever little thing," Mickey's clearly besotted. Terry is apparently just generally popular with the ladies, not just the lesbians.
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 10:34 AM (GMT)
Terry for his part calls Mickey sweetheart in Fae. Andrea calls him that all the time. Josh has a limited vocubulary but snorts. Kid's still flirting.
mouse - September 5, 2010 10:35 AM (GMT)
"Sorry little guy," Mickey sounds genuinely apologetic. "I don't actually speak old talk. But it sounded nice, whatever it was."
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 10:41 AM (GMT)
"I'm pretty sure he called you sweetheart." Josh says. "His English seems limited to names these days."
mouse - September 5, 2010 10:42 AM (GMT)
"Oh you flirt," Mickey teases. She grins at Josh. "You're going to have your hands full when this guy gets bigger."
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 10:45 AM (GMT)
"I already have my hands full, he's got two girlfriends, I think he likes you for his third one mind, he's got his mom, my sister.....I think one of his girlfriend's sister in law's part time. He's a big operator."
mouse - September 5, 2010 10:48 AM (GMT)
"How on earth do you juggle them all?" Mickey asks. The question seems to be directed at Terry. Meanwhile, possibly wanting to be girlfriends five and six, Tracey and Henri have come running over. Henri's wearing what look to be her brother's cast-offs, disdaining such things as dresses. She remembers.
"Hi Josh."
"Hey honey," Mickey says. "This is Josh's little boy..." she realises she doesn't know the kid's name.
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 10:49 AM (GMT)
"Terry." Josh says.
Terry jibbers at the girls in Fae too, then some Spanish.
mouse - September 5, 2010 10:51 AM (GMT)
"He's cute, what's he saying?" Henri wants to know.
"I think he's speaking Spanish doll," Mickey explains to her. "Terry. And you know Henri and this is Tracey." Mickey's switches to sign to explain to the little girl about who Josh and Terry are.
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 10:54 AM (GMT)
"Terrence, boy, English, bud. I'm not sure your new girlfriends are multi lingual." Josh is saying. It's a surprise to Josh Terry does some sign, though it probably shouldn't be after Andrea and Chrissie's wedding.
mouse - September 5, 2010 10:57 AM (GMT)
"They do English and sign, that's about it," Mickey admits. "I'm a negligent mother. I was brought up human so now I'm doing the same with my kids. Which is weird all things considered." Henri's clearly not human. But she is delighted with Terry's multilingual capacities, and is telling him all about her and Tracey's game that they've been playing. It involves slime monsters and machine guns.
Kittyhawk - September 5, 2010 11:00 AM (GMT)
Terry for his part wants to play patty cakes. Never mind machine guns. Clearly he's a lover not a fighter.
mouse - September 6, 2010 12:10 AM (GMT)
It's hard to sign and play patty cakes all at once, but they manage it. Henri switches back to speaking in English for the sake of the game.
Kittyhawk - September 6, 2010 12:14 AM (GMT)
Terry thinks all the attention is keen.
mouse - September 6, 2010 12:32 AM (GMT)
Mickey thinks the kids are all really cute. Terry makes her a little sad though. She misses her own boys. They're at school, of course.
Kittyhawk - September 6, 2010 12:34 AM (GMT)
Josh thinks the kids are cute too. Terry misses his foster siblings Josh is sure. At least the kid gets to see everyone else on the weekends.
mouse - September 6, 2010 12:39 AM (GMT)
"So how old's Terry?" Mickey wants to know. "It's hard to tell with human babies, faerie kids grow at different rates."
Kittyhawk - September 6, 2010 12:40 AM (GMT)
"Ten months. He isn't a year yet." Josh says.
mouse - September 6, 2010 12:46 AM (GMT)
"Aww, just a little one. Mine weren't that smart when they were little."
Kittyhawk - September 6, 2010 12:47 AM (GMT)
"He's mad smart. Never a dull moment." Josh says.
mouse - September 6, 2010 12:54 AM (GMT)
"I hope for your sake he can't fly, then."
Kittyhawk - September 6, 2010 12:59 AM (GMT)
"Uh, no turns people funny colors sometimes. That's really all."
mouse - September 6, 2010 01:00 AM (GMT)
"Aww, adorable. Irritating under the wrong circumstances but adorable."
