"Well, I guess this is as much variety as one can get. I think." James sat back in his chair, looking into his empty glass, debating on whether or not to get another.
"Az, huh? Strange name. As for the goat, that sound exciting."
Fifth Hat - December 27, 2003 02:19 AM (GMT)
A thumping baseline was predominant over all. It permeated the entire place: movement, conversation, even breathing was influenced by the music. That was what James noticed. Everyone seemed to be living by this beat, if only for this short time. It was good to be a part of it.
Breatheinbreatheoutbreatheinbreathoutbreatheinbreatheout...
James was seated at the bar, alternately watching his drink and the rest of the people. Tonight, he was wearing a pair of black jeans threaded with red, laced and buckled and tied all over with what some called 'bondage strips.' He called them bits of cloth. His shirt was a short sleeve, black as well, with a white tragedy mask splashed on the front to match the one around his neck. He had his usual piercings in place, of course; heaven forbid he ever be seen without that.
With everything going on in the club, James would have been having a good time, if it weren't for...
Damn doctor.
Yes, he was a bit out of sorts at the moment. It didn't happen often, and he felt he deserved this one. Everyone should get to splurge every once in a while.
He took another drink.
Lady Delirium - December 27, 2003 11:00 PM (GMT)
”Dark, dark, dark, I’ll show THEM dark…” she was sitting, once again, on the bar table, cross-legged and staring out at the dance floor. She was, in her own way ‘showing them dark’ by wearing a bright, hot pink, fishnet shirt with a yellow tank top over it and a pair of red plaid pants. Her hair was up in two buns, streaked with as many colors she could think of when she was working on her appearance, a few tendrils of natural colored hair peeked through though.
Her violet eyes flicked from the dance floor to the man in front of her. Moving awkwardly she managed to free her left leg from beneath her right and she moved her leg to poke him lightly in the chest with her foot.
”Who is this we are going about damning? I’m good at damning people! Well, no, I really am not, but I think it would be rather exciting, don’t you?” She brought her leg back up and sat down, cross-legged again, and watched him with a tilted head and a quirked pierced eyebrow.
Fifth Hat - December 27, 2003 11:11 PM (GMT)
James first glanced at the leg poking him, and then to the person to which the leg belonged. He ignored the first question, instead opting to answer the second one.
"Sure; exciting." His voice sounded like it was coming from an old man and a young man at the same time. Rich, yet grating. It was a strange voice. It also didn't sound very excited. He could probably make a fortune as a singer of sorts (if you considered rage-filled screaming paired with discordant notes singing; many people did; he didn't).
Taking another drink, James emptied the glass. He almost damned the glass, then stopped himself. No use damning innocents.
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 01:05 AM (GMT)
(Hat, I love you, please forgive me >.< I am reviving all the threads I killed off oh-so-long-ago)
She nodded “Yeah, truly I have no clue, I haven’t damned anyone yet, or smoted them, so I wouldn’t know, but, yeah,”
She bobbed her head lightly to the side, watching him intently. She pulled her legs both back up encircling her arms around them to keep watching him. She smiled lightly as the music changed, nice music, pretty music, well, if you thought that the Cure was pretty, Grace definitely did.
”My name is Gracie, what’s yours? She extended a hand; a scar resembling that of a kiss was visible on the back of it
Fifth Hat - February 21, 2004 01:12 AM (GMT)
((Nah, s'fine. So long as I get a reply.))
Inspecting the scar for a second, he took her hand and shook it. "James," he replied. There was something about her that seemed beyond the others in the room, but he couldn't place it. It felt divine; probably was.
"Do you come her often?" James asked. She didn't seem the kind who would. She had a different air.
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 01:26 AM (GMT)
”Um. Every so often. I like variety when I go to have fun.” She was still watching him.
”I came here once, and met up with my friend Az, and then I got a goat, it’s at home right now, probably chewing on my knee socks…..”
New music, yay, The Doors.
”Hi James.” She smiled at him sweetly. Yep, she was definitely divine; most people were too stupid to notice.
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 01:49 AM (GMT)
”I kinda like the Warehouse better, there is a lot more excitement, this place is mostly people trying to hard to be, like um,” lightly letting go over his hand she brought them up near her face and she wiggled her fingers, searching for the word.
“Well, a lot of them are trying to hard to be depressed, a lot of them just need to let go and enjoy life for what it is.”
She shrugged about the name comment “He’s got a lotta names, Azzy is short for Azreal, and he has a lot of other ones I’m too lazy to learn…”
Fifth Hat - February 21, 2004 07:00 PM (GMT)
"Depressed, indeed," James replied, looking out at the dance floor. People were still moving to the music, but he didn't see many smiles, if any at all. "I don't think too many of them would like to be happy, however."
A small smile crossed James' face. "Too many names, huh? What kind of business is he in?"
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
”I could make them happy, if I really felt like it, but I think I should make people happy who deserve it more….” She continued to watch them, having an urge to jump into the crowd, spin circles around them while singing happily, like a rainbow slithering through the darkness. But she resisted, barely.
”Death is even bright when he comes in here…” she said, remembering Az’s change of wardrobe.
”Oh, what’s he in? Um… stuff…” Dietyness? Nah, didn’t sound right.
Fifth Hat - February 21, 2004 07:17 PM (GMT)
James wondered who she was to decide who deserved happiness, but didn't say anything.
"Death, huh? Well, I guess it would be, with this crowd." He failed to catch she had called Death a he.
"Sounds shady. Stuff." He looked thoughtful, wondering if he had heard the name before in major crime rings.
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 07:47 PM (GMT)
“Well, only one person was dieing last time, and it was in a few weeks, he mostly came here for me I think, because I was yelling that everyone here needed to cheer up and go get laid. That’s why the warehouse is so much better, every one would jump at the prospect of getting to have sex.”
A little blunt, yes, but there was nothing wrong with being blunt.
”Mhm, as shady and dark as his hair.” She paused for a second “Wait, no his hair is white now… umm.. so as dark as… as… I dunno, something dark…”
Fifth Hat - February 21, 2004 07:56 PM (GMT)
He? Was she talking about Death as a he? Odd... maybe another Deity. Made sense.
"Yeah. I think the only reason they don't jump to it here is the fact that most have been made impotent from all the drugs." Blunt for blunt.
"Night?" he suggested. Night was pretty dark and shady.
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 08:09 PM (GMT)
She shrugged, “Yeah, maybe, I dunno, they should just loosen up, life is worth having fun.”
She smiled, inherited smile from her father. The music was The Cure, Just like Heaven, that song always made her smile, it was a great song.
”Yeah, but night has like, stars and the moon, so it’s like, kind of bright, so shady as himself?”
Fifth Hat - February 21, 2004 08:12 PM (GMT)
"Well, then, how about a cloudy night?" James asked. Those were dark. "Or maybe dark like... a cave?" He was grasping now. Pitifully, too.
"Life is worth having fun. Too short, usually." Usually. "I wonder why it's always the people who don't have to worry about that who have the most fun." The comment was mostly to himself, but it was louder than he'd meant.
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 08:25 PM (GMT)
“Mm, maybe a cave, but only if no lights can shine in it.” She nodded, looking thoughtful. Grace glanced down at her hands and cupped them together for a brief second before opening them. Two glittery brightly colored butterflies flew up and through the crowd, seeming to leave a trail of glitter behind them.
”Umm, becaaause,” she thought briefly, “Because we spend our time figuring out that life is short and we might as well enjoy it and then we do even though life is no longer so short?”
Fifth Hat - February 21, 2004 08:32 PM (GMT)
'We', huh? Yeah, definately divine. "Yes, that probably why."
He watch the butterflies, following their progress for a moment. "What were those for?" he asked, unable to contain his curiosity.
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 08:57 PM (GMT)
She shrugged. "I'm going to make too people have fun tonight, they need it, they are both rather sad right now."
She watched the butterflies fly through the air, one of them landing on the back of a dancer, who didn't seem to notice and another one landing a few bodies away on another person, who also seemed not to notice, but both of them turned and made eye contact with each other.
It was really so beautiful. Well, not really, it was just part of the job. She turned to look back at James.
”Yeah, it’s good to make at least a few people realize they need to just let go.”
Fifth Hat - February 21, 2004 09:03 PM (GMT)
He watched the butterflies and the resulting eye contact. It was almost poetic.
"Hopefully they don't let go too much." It sounded almost like he was speaking from experience, but that couldnt't be it. What would he know about it?
He shook himself and smiled. "Then again, some people should let go too much."
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 09:10 PM (GMT)
She shrugged. "It'll start out slow, just seeing each other every so often, and then they'll start talking, and then bam, they'll find themselves in love, I'm going to make sure it doesn't end badly for them."
She watched them, both of them had gone back to their dancing, the butterflies where both sitting on their shoulders, slowly flapping their wings.
Fifth Hat - February 21, 2004 09:17 PM (GMT)
A reminiscent smile made its way onto James' face. "Sounds nice," he said. Absently, he touched the charm at his neck briefly, finally signaling for another drink. It was brought to him swiftly, and he drank it as slowly as the other.
((Bah, stupid shortness.))
Lady Delirium - February 21, 2004 09:52 PM (GMT)
She noticed the charm, but made no comment. She picked up a Mountain Dew can that may or may not have been near her leg earlier and began to drink it, her eyes on the crowd.
(Bah, I know, stupid shortness, need to finish watching I love the 80's)
