Title: An unusual visitor
Description: For Arc

K-Squared - September 6, 2005 11:11 PM (GMT)
Viv was actually not freezing today. Chilly, yes, freezing no. So she was wandering around in sweats and slippers. She had tray of steaks broiling in the toatser oven and she had also made a big bowl of potato salad.

She was restless today. She's cleaned her tools, her gun, her apartment.....but she didn't feel up to going anywhere or doing anything. She'd called Uriel a little earlier, to see if he wanted to come over. At least she felt less restless with him around. He'd said he'd come.

She made herself sit down and figure out her credit card statements. No not what she owes, how much money from jobs has been paid into her accounts with credit cards. Writing seemed to make her hands cold as she went through matching the statement against her ledgers. She really was starting to get frustrated with being cold all the time, it didn't bode well with fall and winter coming. She kept pausing to rub warmth into her hands and finally finished her task.

She had no idea why she was getting like this, the bouts of restlessness were another new thing. Not like overflowing or nearly overflowing, evrytime she got any where near that point and she was outside of her apartment, it seemed her father showed up to siphon her energy away in entirety.

That was part of what was causing the cold, but not all of it. The restlessness, she had no clue. She still hadn't heard anything about the grimoires either. She went back to pacing.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 02:55 PM (GMT)
Uriel had come when he was asked. He'd donned a blue sweatshirt over his bare torso and pulled the hood up over his head so that it covered his multi-colored hair. His jeans looked they were long overdue to be thrown into a garbage and so did those heavy black boots that went up to mid-calf.

He went with no helmet, no gloves, an accident waiting to happen. By some miracle of the gods he managed to stay alive, but he really should've been more careful...

He parked the bike when he got there and got off. He was soon at the door and unlocking it. Then he opened it, peeking his head in first, pink eyes focused on his pacing girlfriend.

"You okay?"

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
"Just restless, and I don't feel like going anywhere." she said. "Get sick of all the go, go, go, sometimes taking jobs all over the city. How are you, I missed you." She tells him. Her face now has the crooked little half grin she often gives him, as if she's trying to grin in secret. She only does it for him.

Viv walks over to the doorway to wait for him to come in instead of just standing there peeking. It's sorta cute to watch him peek. She can't fault him at all for doing it though, not since that night he'd come in here to find her in the middle of the kitchen floor.... covered in blood in the middle of a blood drawn magic circle, while she was possesed. She knew there were things about her life that had to be alarming for him. She really did hate it.

"No wierd creepy stuff today I swear." she tells him. She's been trying to keep all such things away from him as much as possible in the interest of sanity for both of them.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
"I'd say I know how that is, but then I'd be lying." He said with a small smile, still standing in the doorway a little ways and peeking in. His hand could be visible holding the door. He was also leaning on it.

"I missed you too." You don't know how much. He always missed her, no matter what the condition. His smile brightened a little bit and he opened the door a little bit. His sharp teeth near glistened in the light. "You swear?" He was almost teasing her, still standing there.

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 03:39 PM (GMT)
She moved closer to the door, standing about six inches from the gap he was holding opened. "This is not quite what I meant when I told you I wanted to see you." she told him in a soft teasing tone.

He stands there leaning on the door. "Are you okay, Uriel?" she asks in an almost whisper reaching up to touch his cheek. She woerries about him, she hasn't failed to notice that he sways, leans on things, and sometimes seems weak. She's never confronted him about it, though she has wanted to ask.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 03:58 PM (GMT)
"I know. I'm sorry." He smiled a little bit as she reached up to touch his cheek. He finally entered the apartment and closed the door behind him. He then wrapped his arms around her.

"I'm fine. Are you okay? You still feel cold."

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 04:16 PM (GMT)
"It's not so bad today. Though I would love to know what to do about it." She told him softly. She snaked her own arms around him and let her head rest on his shoulder. Her tension visibly lessened as soon as he'd wrapped his arms around her.

"I love you." she told him. She really did, the simplest gestures from him meant the world to her, the rest of her life, paled like muted water colors compared to the time she got to spend with him.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 04:30 PM (GMT)
"But you're still cold. Have you eaten anything?" He held her just a little bit tighter but was still as gentlye as if he were handling a porcelain doll.

"I love you too. So much." He rubbed her back gently and rocked ever so slightly.

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
"It's not quite done cooking, I could just eat it raw, but I really do prefer my meat cooked. Did you eat yet? I made some potato salad." She was still snuggled against him. He felt good.

"Did you wanna sit down, while I go check on the meat?" she asked lifting her head to look up at him with those stormy green eyes.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 04:45 PM (GMT)
"Eating it raw could cause certain health issues you don't need." He was sort of concerned she was serious. It was good that she preferred it cooked anyway.

He looked back with his pretty, almost multi-colored mauve eyes. "Sure, if you don't need any help."

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
"Health issues, I don't know about that....." she doesn't go onto explain that she hasn't been sick since she was seven years old. It just doesn't happen. "And thanks but I don't need help, there isn't much to do." She leaned up and gave him a peck on the cheek before letting go of him.

"Are you eating?" she asks him as she goes out to the kitchen. She opens the toaster oven and uses a meat thermometer to check the meat. It should't be too overdone. She pulls it out and then gets the potato salad out of the fridge.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 05:07 PM (GMT)
He flopped down on the recliner when she said she didn't need any help. He nodded a little. "If you say so.." he shrugged a bit, looking at her in the kitchen from where he was sitting.

He didn't want to lie, so he just shrugged. "Here and there." The demon didn't eat a lot.

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
She looked up and gave him a scrunched up face, "I meant with me. Do you want any of this on a plate?" It is what she meant. She knows he eats very little. It worries her, but she doesn't want to be pushy.

"Heck I won't care if you pick off my plate, I just wanted to know if you plan on eating right now." Her face had turned into a smirk by this point. He had his moments where he was terribly funny with out meaning to be at all. This was one of them.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 05:49 PM (GMT)
"Ah, I catch your drift." He grinned boyishly at his own unintelligence, looking over at her with a silly expression. He looked fairly content and care free. It's because he was.

"I don't know. Never really eat. Just pick." He offered a shrug and stuck out his tongue at her.

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 05:58 PM (GMT)
"Fine you can pick from my plate then. Everyone knows another person's food is always more apetizing anyhow." She laughed when he stuck out his tongue at her. She finished fixing the plate and then got a glass of water.

She walked out to where he was was sitting and sat on the arm of the chair. She balanced the water between her knees and held the plate with one hand while offering him a forkful of potato salad. "Wanna bite?" she crooned in her lazy southern drawl.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
"Isn't it true, though?" He flashed her an innocent smile after his tongue was back in his mouth, snuggling into the recliner.

"Mhmm." He nodded a little bit, leaning in ever so slightly to bite ate the forkful of food. He looked like a contented little puppy.

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 09:15 PM (GMT)
"I don't know, other people pick at my food and don't have their own." she teases him back with a smile.

Right when the both got comfortable of coarse the interuption came. Knocking at the door, it was neither too loud, nor too timid. Viv groaned. "I wasn't expecting anyone. There is a reason I don't tell people where I live." she says in a sighing voice. She puts a forkfull of potato salad in her mouth and looks absolutely pouty.
Have I mentioned Viv doesn't really like surprises.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 09:18 PM (GMT)
He showed off yet another magnificent smile though it soon faded when he heard the knock at the door.

"nng, want me to get it?" He doesn't sound annoyed much or disappointed. But he didn't want to share his Viv's attention. Yes, his Viv.

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 09:23 PM (GMT)
"That's fine, maybe they're just lost or something." she says hopefully. If she knew his feelings, she'd tell him to ignore it. She didn't really want to spare attention for anyone else anyhow.

She truly hoped it wasn't her brother. She ate a little meat and watched him get up.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
"Maybe." He shrugged a little, getting up and walking (with a sway) to the door. He cracked it open slightly to look. It was open about four inches or so now.

"Something I can do for you...?" He asked, a little timidly. Uriel is not normally a timid creature.

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 10:00 PM (GMT)
A six and a half foot tall being holding a large wooden crate, might seem a bit intimidating, even to Uriel. I say being, because he's close enough for it to be plain, those are not human eyes. Two black pits, with brilliant pinpoints of light for pupils, do not belong to a human.

Cheddar had tried to dress sedately, which meant faded but not torn jeans, a light grey button down and his very weather beaten duster. To someone who knows what to look for, it's obvious there's something under that coat.

"I'm looking for Vivienne Kildares, I have something important for her. If I can speak to her?" The voice is not at all human. It's more like molten steel, it comes on too strong, but comes off smoothly anyhow. His face looks a little broody, he had been hoping Vivienne would be home alone. He hoped he hadn't interupted anything, but he'd been putting this off long enough.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
"Looks like he's not lost after all," Uriel murmured, a touch disappointed. His hands strayed to his pockets and slipped inside of them. He looked worriedly to Vivienne for a moment, holding onto the door. He looked back to the demon.

He sighed.

"She's here." He cracked the door open a little bit more, feeling as if he was getting in the way once more.

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 10:11 PM (GMT)
The demon at the door nodded. He was polite for all his inhuman qualities. Viv sat looking through the gap in the door once more. She was not amused. Why was it everyone came when she was with Uriel? With an exasperated sigh she rose and sat down her plate.

"Can I help you?" she asked with an arced and skeptical eyebrow. She was very curious what was in the box.

"May I come in?" Cheddar asked softly.

Arcane Blood - September 7, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
Uriel was curious of what was in the box as well but kept his curiosity to himself, stepping out of the way and opening the door all the way. He watched curiously, noting there was something wrong with Cheddar's piece of clothing. He stifled a sigh.

K-Squared - September 7, 2005 10:33 PM (GMT)
The wings twitch slightly at the scrutiny. His tail is behaving though. He steps into the apartment giving it a modest perusal as he does so.

"Where should I set this?" he asks about the crate. Viv gestures to the desk. He carries it over and sets it down.

" I believe these books will be of particular interest to you. " He says lifting the lid. He's speaking to Viv but watching Uriel. He isn't watching him in a cautious sort of way either. The large demon looks almost wistful.

Vivienne grins as she pulls the first book from the crate. It is a large leatherbound tome. She's so happy she can't speak. The Grimoires!!! It's the best break she's had since she met Uriel.

Arcane Blood - September 8, 2005 02:50 AM (GMT)
Is he slightly... jealous? No sir. Okay, so maybe a little bit, but he's more expressionless to see if Cheddar's bothering her or not. She certainly doesn't look bothered. He closed the door behind the demon, saying nothing.

Poor, left out and out of the loop Uriel.

K-Squared - September 8, 2005 03:01 AM (GMT)
"You know what they are, I trust? the demon asks. "Would anyone be bothered If I took off this coat behind closed doors?"

"I've been trying to track these down." Vivienne says. " I know I can't use the information with out all seven but I don't suppose you know the key?" She asked the demon not even hearing what he asked about his coat.

Cheddar still watches Uriel, half listening to Viv. "The key, it's the seven days, each book has the entries for a specific one, Monday, Tuesday, you follow?" He asks. His wings twitch more under the coat, wanting to stretch very much. He had afterall flown over here.

Arcane Blood - September 8, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
Uriel didn't like the fact that he was being watched. He watched the demon carefully.

"You may take your coat off." He said, noting the irritation under the coat.

"I'm lost, Viv. What are those?"

K-Squared - September 8, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
Cheddar removes his his coat freeing his wings which he gives a gentle flap to. His wings are a lovely lusterous pewter color. The tail also flicks it's way free and swishes slowly.

Viv looks at Uriel, "Spell books for the most part , but my father also catalogued his experiments in them. Hopefully I can figure a bit more out about what he changed me to do. Or at least figure out what to do about freezing my ass off all the time." She tells him.

Cheddar stares down at his shoes after freeing his wings not sure if he's made anyone uncomfortable with them.

Arcane Blood - September 8, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
Uriel looked at the wings and the tail, seeming to be rather nonchalant that they were there. He was jealous, though. Those wings, that tail, they were so beautiful...

He nodded when he was spoken to. "Oh, I see. And this is a very good thing, I presume?" he sounds happy for her.

His eyes are still on the demon. "May I ask of you a name?"

K-Squared - September 8, 2005 10:45 PM (GMT)
"A good thing yes, I need answers, I just hope they happen to be here." She looks hopefully at the demon, who is still looking at his feet. He does look up whan Uriel asks for his name though. There is something odd in the way the demon seems to be reacting towards Uriel, but Viv is hardly an expert on demon behaviors.

"Chezsmaldashar Beonowendor." Cheddar says looking at Uriel and then to Viv for a moment.

"You have a nickname right?" Viv asks.

The demon nods " I am often called Cheddar." he answers her, once more though he's looking at Uriel.

"Cheddar, you say, are you staring at him?" she asks impatiently, afterall she's besotted with Uriel and she doesn't look at him THAT much.

The demon gives a slight sheepish nod before looking back at his feet. His tail and wings seem to droop a bit. He looks rather as if he's been caught misbehaving.

Arcane Blood - September 8, 2005 10:50 PM (GMT)
Uriel gave a slow nod, gaze drifting over to Viv then back to Cheddar.

"Cheddar, is it? It's a pleasure. My name's Uriel." He stuck out his hand in case Cheddar wanted to shake it.

C'mon, shake it. Uriel's friendly enough.

"It's okay, Viv. He's not hurting anything."

K-Squared - September 8, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
Viv, being territorial well, it makes sense at least to the demon. He lifts his head and shakes hands which sets his tail to wagging. Not all exiled demon generals are so friendly, Cheddar might not be either in another situation. "Uriel, I will remember, it is good to know you." the demon says, with the utmost sincerity.

Viv stands flipping through the books. She's trying to go by the dates and find an approximate time frame. It doesn't take her too long since she has an idea what she's looking for. She stands for a few minutes reading. "Why are you helping me?" she asks the demon, without looking up.

Arcane Blood - September 9, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
"And you." He replied with a nod. His tone was slightly lazy, perhaps from lack of sleep. It was still one of the sweetest and smoothest voices one could ever hear.

Finally he had the sense to stop standing there and slowly slink over to Viv, lingering over her shoulder.

He wanted to be a part of this too.

K-Squared - September 9, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
"Helping you, I have my reasons, Your father took something very important from me." Cheddar answered, these words sounded as if they drained him somehow. Perhaps they did.

Viv had turned to books to the right dates she passed them to Uriel. "Will you hold these, so I don't lose the page?" she asked him, and began going through the others.

"Did you have some stake in his work?"Viv asked the demon.

He shook his head. "In a manner of speaking my son did." Came his hushed reply. It was so very still and quiet but for the turning of pages, that it wasn't hard to hear him.

"Is this, no of coarse this is for real, what in the hell would possess him to do this...." Viv whispered as she found diagrams, a blue print so to speak. It's always disconcerting to find a blueprint of yourself.

Arcane Blood - September 30, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
Uriel was wondering what this was all about. He took the books in his clawed hands. "Yeah, sure."

"But... what is all this, anyway?"

He resisted the urge to ask of Cheddar why he'd come here for fear of sounding like an idiot.

But he just wanted to understand.

K-Squared - September 30, 2005 10:12 PM (GMT)
"I'm an experiment if I'm understanding this." Vivienne told Uriel. "That's a list of, parts and unwilling donors, and this is where everything got put." she points at the diagram.

"Your son?" Viv asked the demon. She had a funny feeling about the way he'd said it.

Arcane Blood - October 1, 2005 01:52 PM (GMT)
Uriel nodded, silent. He still didn't understand, though. Why would he give her this? His gaze wandered from the diagram to Cheddar. He was hoping he could explain more clearly.

An... experiment?

What on earth were they talking about?

Maybe he should have left so that Cheddar could simply explain things to Viv, someone who'd understand. Right now he was just someone there to hold books and look, if only mildly, confused.

K-Squared - October 1, 2005 03:19 PM (GMT)
The demon nodded. "My son was one of them, your ah donors. Lungs, heart blood, most of your organs actually are his. Your were all failing. It's right there in the notes. "

"I don't see a demon on the list.....'She reads it again and her mouth makes a big "O". " Heart lungs, I see, he was a hybrid. What was his name. It doesn't give their names, if they're part of me, why I'm alive, I should find out their names.....he stole them and killed them all. I'm so sorry. How old was he?" Viv is rambling just a little bit. She reached for Uriel's hand, she's slightly shocked as all this dawns on her.

"Ashleigh, his name was Ashleigh. The werewolf boy was Ken. I almost saved him. You need to know about it, what your father did to you. It's affecting your magic." he said. He's pretty choked up. He's crying after naming his son. He isn't making eye contact with either of them right now.

"So help me out a bit, why are you helping me? Your little boy got killed so I could live." she said quietly.

"Because you're all I have left of him, and I want to stop your father." the demon said around his soft sobs.

Arcane Blood - October 1, 2005 05:33 PM (GMT)
You might recall the fact that nothing would get in the way of Uriel loving Vivienne, however... he couldn't help feeling almost... hurt by this. Hurt by the fact that Viv was... parts of other things. He felt bad for the other demon but he knew that Viv needed comfort now and she was the more familiar figure. He loved her. No matter what. No matter who died.

It was so hard to deal with, though.

Uriel's pink gaze drifted from Cheddar to Viv, sadly. He looked sympathetic. He wanted to just hold her now, but... these damned books were in the way.

He was beginning to piece things together and he didn't like the finished puzzle. He frowned.

"Is... is there anything I can do?"
