Blade had gotten to the point where he was getting so very tired of just hanging out around the house all day long while Greg went to work. That morning, he’d gotten himself up, showered and gotten dressed. Make sure you’re sitting down before you continue reading what the boy put on for today. He put on one of the pairs of pants Greg had bought him at the mall the day he’d gotten in trouble and taken to the trailer to be punished for his behavior. He had refused to wear these clothes since they day they had been bought. Anyway, the pants are a dark blue and are slightly baggy. Not near as baggy as his usual jeans but still baggy enough that he’ll deal with it. He goes through the shirts Greg had bought him and pulls out a blue shirt that’s a couple of shades lighter than the pants. It buttons up the front. Holy shit. The kid even tucks it in. He’s wearing a pair of black tennis shoes.

He was sitting at the kitchen table having already eaten and cleaned up his own dishes. Yep. You got it. The boy wants something if he’s suckin’ ass this much. Greg comes out of his room already dressed for work and gives the boy an odd look. “May I go to the bookstore today, sir?” the boy asked. “I’d like to go to Jacobson’s, if it’s okay with you. I saw them listed in the phone book when I was looking for a library or something.” Much to his surprise, Greg granted him permission. Even said he’d drop the boy off on his way to work. Freakin’ awesome. Blade went into his room, yes, he’s started to finally call it his room cause he ain’t got no where else to go, and grabbed his bag before heading out to the car after Greg.

He got into the backseat and buckled his seatbelt. Greg pulled up in front of the bookstore. “Thank you, sir,” he said as he climbed out of the car. Greg told him that he’d be back to pick him up after he got off of work. “Yes sir,” he said and headed inside. He headed to one of the back tables and set his bag down. Then he headed over to the shelves and started looking at the various books.

Air Conditioning and free admittance, two of the features Sinister most loves in nay establishment. He's been walking for a while, and it's quite warm. As usual he has hisback pack with his laptop and several bottles of water.

He enters the book store and spots a less crowded table to sit at with his laptop. He doesn't have any home work, so he isn't sure what he'll do, but he's sure he can find something to occupy himself.

Today he's wearing a pair of khaki shorts and a blue and white oxford striped short sleeved button down. The normal nerd boy sandals with the fashion faux paus of white socks are on his feet. HE gets the lap top going almost as quick as he's seated.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 04:57 PM (GMT)
Blade is looking at the books titles one by one. Many of them he doesn’t know what they are because, well, did I happen to mention that Blade can’t read very well? I didn’t? Well damn. I’m mentioning it now. He doesn’t know what many of the edges of the books are saying because he can’t read them very well. Oh sure, he knows certain words. Damn.

He finds one that the cover of it looks interesting but there’s big words on it. The book is dark blue. It’s not a terribly thick book but it’s far from being thin either. He glances around as he’s standing there with the book. Oh hey. Check out the nerdy lookin’ kid. Blade walks over to the table he’s at and sets the book on the table.

“‘Scuse me,” he says to the kid. "Can ya help me a second?"

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 05:05 PM (GMT)
Sinister looks up from whatever video game his playing, I'm sure it's something interesting. "Whatcha need?" he asks cheerfully. He's died in the game, but he doesn't seem to notice or care.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 05:07 PM (GMT)
Blade stood there for a moment with one hand on the book and his other scratching his head in an almost embarrassed sort of way. He dropped his gaze from the boy to the book. “I.. Um...” he muttered. “Can ya tell me what this says?” he finally blurts and shoves the book towards the boy.

"Gandallman's treatsies on Botany and Chemistry for the novice" Sinister reads, "Wow what class is that for?" he asks. The book while in very good shape looks old.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
Blade just blinks as he listens. “Oh,” he stammers. “I... I think I got the wrong book.” No shit sherlock.

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 05:20 PM (GMT)
"Kay." Sinister says He restarts the video game and resumes. Cheerfully oblivious. He has the volume turned to a nearly negligible ammount.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 05:23 PM (GMT)
Blade takes the book and heads back over to where he got it. He shoves it back into the shelf and starts looking at more of the books. Oh hey. This one looks cool. He pulls it off the shelf and turns it so he can look at the cover. Damn it.

He glances over towards the nerdy looking kid with the computer and sighs. He heads back over to the table. “‘Scuse me again,” he says in an actual apologetic tone.

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 05:25 PM (GMT)
"mmmhhhmmm"Sinister mumbles as he finishes a level then he looks up. "Oh, hey, need help again?"

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 05:26 PM (GMT)
Blade nods and looks embarrassed. “Yeah...” he mutters as he sets the book down on the table and pushes it towards the kid.

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 05:41 PM (GMT)
"Magical Wards" Sinister reads off the book title. "Are you in the Alchemy section looking? Some interesting titles you're finding." Sinister says.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 05:44 PM (GMT)
Blade blinks a few times. And then he flops down into a chair across from the computer kid. “I... um...” he mutters. “I dunno what section I’m lookin’ in.”

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
"Are you supposed to be wearing glasses?" Sinister asks.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 05:58 PM (GMT)
“No,” he said in an almost snotty voice. Face contorted along with it. “I don’t gotta wear no glasses. I just... can’t...” He stopped and looked around. “I can’t read alright.”

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 06:01 PM (GMT)
Sinister gestures for him to move the chair closer. "Uhm, dumb question, whatcha doing in the bookstore?" he asked he isn't being a smart ass, he really is perplexed. He closes the video game and starts looking for some tutorials. Cause tutorials rock.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
Blade sure as hell wasn’t about to say that it was the only place he could think of that he might actually have gotten permission to get out of the house to go to. No. That would make him sound like some sort of captive or some shit like that. He wasn’t about go doing something like that. He did not want to get in trouble.

However, there was another reason why he’d picked coming to some place that had books. And what would that reason be? “I wanna learn to read,” he says as he scoots his chair a bit closer.

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 06:08 PM (GMT)
"I guess that makes sense." He fishes in his back pack for the headphones. "Here make friends with the mouse and these headphones. The computer will tell you what to do and when you're ready to move on it'll tell you what to do next, and I know this is Dorky seeming for little kids but it works." He says having found something suitable to start the kid out with. He picks up the "Supposed Magic book" and looks through it.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 06:09 PM (GMT)
Blade looks from the kid to the computer and back to the kid. Great. Now he’s going to really sound stupid. “What is this?” He was, of course, referring to the computer.

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 06:14 PM (GMT)
"It's a laptop computer, it won't bite you. " Sinister promises smiling. He hadn't been born knowing everything he knows, and he remembers it, Sinister simply had enough ambition to educate himself.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 06:16 PM (GMT)
“I ain’t never messed with no computers before,” he said as he continued staring at the thing. His only ambition had ever been to make sure he didn’t get his ass shot from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 06:32 PM (GMT)
"Well you're about to, the less you know about in life the more things people can lord over you." Sinister says.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 06:35 PM (GMT)
He sighed cause he knew the kid was right. He glanced towards the kid. “You got a name?” he asked. “Everyone just calls me Blade. Show me how ta use this thing?”

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 06:43 PM (GMT)
"Sinister, put the headphones on man, this is like a training thingy, it will talk you through how to work everything. " Sinister says.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 06:46 PM (GMT)
Blade nodded and reached down to put the headphones on. He glanced from the computer to Sinister and back to the computer again. It couldn’t be all bad, right? Damn he hoped not. He slowly started going through and doing whatever he was told to do through the headphones.

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 06:56 PM (GMT)
Sinister got out a note book and jotted down a few notes on this wards book, there were some things here he wanted to look up later. He let Blade sit and do his thing on the computer till around noon time.

His stomach started talking then. He tapped Blade on the shoulder.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 06:58 PM (GMT)
It looks like Blade’s actually getting into this thing. He startles when he feels someone tapping on his shoulder but relaxes when he realizes it’s Sinister. He takes off the headphones. “Yeah?”

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
"Let's get some food from the cafe across the street eh?" he says. His stomach rumbles loudly.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 07:03 PM (GMT)
Shit. He’d not thought about eating lunch when he’d asked Greg if he could come. Otherwise he would have asked Greg if he could have a couple of bucks to eat with. His stomach growls though at the mention of food. He frowns. “I.. uh... I forgot to ask my foster dad for some money.” Foster dad? Where the hell did that come from Blade? Oh right. He’s not going to just say ‘the guy I live with cause he took me in’.

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 07:31 PM (GMT)
"It's okay come on." Sinister says folding up the laptop. "Serious, it's not that expensive and you need to feed your brain." He coils up his external mouse and the headphones. He carefully arranges things in his backpack.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 07:33 PM (GMT)
“You sure?” he asked hesitantly. “Hang on. I gotta get my bag.” He hurried back to the corner table where he’d dropped his own bag when he had first arrived. He made his way back over to Sinister. “Alright. I’m ready.”

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 07:41 PM (GMT)
They go across the street, the place has wraps, sandwiches, fries, salads, soups, some cookies and brownies and burritos. Sinister gets two steak wraps, a burrito, fries, a brownie, and a large sweet tea. "Get what you want Blade." he says.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 07:47 PM (GMT)
Blade fell into step beside Sinister. “3 burrito’s, a brownie and a large Pepsi please.”

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 08:01 PM (GMT)
"You like burritos hey?" Sinister asks. While they wait he goes to the ketchup dispenser and gets two cups of ketchup. "Want any salsa or anything?"

Their food was placed on a tray and Sinister paid thanking the counter guy. "Where should we sit? he asks.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
“Yeah,” he answers. “But I like homemade ones better. It’s alright though. It’s been a while since I had homemade ones. No thanks about the salsa.” He also prefers homemade salsa. His mother used to make all that stuff homemade. Her manitou was the best.

Blade points out a corner table that doesn’t seem to be quite so busy. “How about over there?”

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 08:09 PM (GMT)
"Home made ones, I'll take you for Mexican sometime then, I know this little place, little old lady runs it, good grub. I have to point at the pictures of what I want on her menu you though, I dunno a lick of Spanish." Sinister says. He carries the tray to the table indicated. He eats his french fries first.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 08:19 PM (GMT)
“That sounds awesome. I’d like to go,” he said enthusiastically. “As long as it’s okay with my foster dad though.” he laughed. “Spanish is what I speak best. My foster dad don’t like for me to around him, so I try not to anymore. I slip sometimes though. I don’t mean to.”

At the table, Blade eagerly downed one of the burrito’s straight away. “Gracias por el almuerzo, mi amigo. Aprecio,” he said with a smile. “That means ‘Thank you for lunch, my friend. I appreciate it.’”

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
"Cool, maybe you can teach me a little. They say it's good to know another language and the admissions office wants me to take another language next year." He frowns just thinking about the admissions office. "Yeah we'll go to the Mexican place sometime then, definitely, you can tell the little old lady her empanadas rock my world for me." Sinister says laughing.

oneofmanysouls - August 27, 2005 08:48 PM (GMT)
“I’ll teach you Spanish if you’ll help me learn to read,” he offered and smiled. “Maravilloso. Sonidos como un plan,” he said with a grin. “That means ‘Groovy. Sounds like a plan.’” Blade was enjoying being able to speak Spanish without getting in trouble for it.

K-Squared - August 27, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)
"Can you write it or just speak it?" Sinister asked the other boy.
