Sitting at her usual table by the window was the form of Alia. It had been a long time since she’d been out of the house and what a way to start by having to go back to work. Oh well. It was after work now and that was all that mattered. The woman was reading a book, as usual, and had a cup of coffee on the table in front of her that was almost empty. Emerald eyes were engrossed in the fascinating book of how computers worked and different ways to fix problems that could arise.

It has been a month now since the incident and no longer did she have to wear bandages, however she was still making a few trips to the doctors for check ups every now and then. The bite mark on her neck was healing nicely and stitches had been taken out. Her side was healing nicely as well though permanent burn scars had occurred and would remain with her unless she opted for plastic surgery. Not being a vain person she decided she would live with the scars.

Normal work attire of black dress slacks and white button down shirt were worn. Legs were crossed underneath the table as she read her book. She yawned, hand coming up to cover her mouth as she did so and then returned to holding her book as the yawning ceased. It was around 6 p.m.

EADAN - August 26, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
Eadan walked in with the crowd of people who were beginning their night shift, though it was only 6, with a cup of coffee to keep them going.
he easily stood out in the crowd of black and white business people, with his tattered green attire and red hair, and he was probably the only one who wouldn't get the reply "one at a time please" when he stood on a weighing scale.
He brushed past the line and leaned over the counter and started humming a dark hymn. As planned it attracted the attention of the cashier person.

"Yes sir, how may we help?"

Eadan replied in his very vivid Irish accent
"I want a triple espresso, with two teaspoons of milk, three blocks of sugar, whipped cream with a cherry on top"

The woman stared at him blankly

"Is that all?"

"Oh and don't bother heating it up"

He spent the next few minutes on his own because the rest of the line had shifted away from him and even the woman handing him the coffee stayed as far back as she could but moved closer once he was giving the money, she obviously had been swindled a few times.
He looked around and to his delight and astonishment a woman was in the seat he had picked as his a week ago. He walked over to her with the intent of sitting down or annoying her until she got up.

"Miss, can i sit down?"

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 03:02 AM (GMT)
Sure he stood out in a crowd but the woman was so engrossed in her book that she had not paid any attention to his presence until he asked if he could sit down. Emerald eyes looked up to see a spiked red headed man.

”Yes you may.” She said gesturing with her book to the other chair as her hands were a bit full.

EADAN - August 27, 2005 07:52 AM (GMT)
"cheers" he said gingerly, with a smile she probably wouldn't notice.

He slipped down onto the seat careful not to spill his coffee. He put his hand on it and the cream began to melt until it was a thin layer on the top of his coffee with the cherry bobbing along.
He dipped his head down to try and glance and what she was reading but couldn't so asked

"what ya' readin' "

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
How Computers Work by Ron White. Rather interesting reading. Has some good information about motherboards and such.” Eyes glanced up after speaking to look over her book at the man. Strange. This was how Lucifer and her got to know each other. Hopefully this man wasn’t possessed though either.

”You read much?” She said returning her gaze back to her book and took a sip of her coffee.

EADAN - August 27, 2005 06:25 PM (GMT)
"pfft, computers...the old corruption in a new casing. Helpful though."

He glanced out the window to let what he had said sink in and saw a begger getting attacked and robbed. This was the lowest of low, Eadan whiped out his phone and snapped a picture of the attacker then turned back to the woman

"The only book for me is the bible, and the odd novel like Da Vinci Codes"

It was true, he had a signed copy of the book at his flat and ha dit placed beside his bible. He also had a pocket bible with him.
He doubted the woman would understand , not many these days were passionate about old beliefs apart from the dark ones as eadan called them.

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 06:48 PM (GMT)
Indeed his comment caused her to finally lower her book and close it. One leg crossed over the other as she finally paid full attention to him. Her posture was ridiculously straight from her rich upbringing.

”Indeed they are helpful. Working with computers is my job.” It may sound like he was insulting her job, but she wasn’t going to go too far in to the whole ordeal. After all that was his opinion and it wasn’t her place to force something else upon him.

Her gaze turned to look outside as he did and watched the same episode of a beggar getting robbed. ”Horrible. Excuse me a moment.” She actually got up and went outside to help the beggar back up after the robber had left, asked him if he was alright and then gave him quite a bit of money and told him to hide it in a safe place and not spend it on alcohol. He thanked her and then she came back inside and sat back down.

”The bible you said? Indeed that is a very good book. Have one myself.” She said smiling. ”I’m afraid I haven’t read the other book though. What’s it about?”

EADAN - August 27, 2005 07:08 PM (GMT)
Eadan was now staring in awe of this woman, a caring women...even though the beggar would most likely go and spend his money on drugs and the sort, it was the thought that counts as they say.

"That guys doesn’t have to worry he will be avenged, I promise him" Eadan muttered fiddling with the safety switch on his gun and then tuned in to what she was saying luckily hearing the question at the end.

"Basically proving the bible wrong, quiet an odd pair of favourite books one writes about the lies of the other. Nice read though every page was a new experience"

He wasn't entirely sure why he was sharing his thoughts with her, it was not like him to chat with strangers unless he intended to get something useful out of them, but she had a certain warmth about her one he only got from doing his job right.

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 07:27 PM (GMT)
”Yes. That is quite an odd pair of favorite books.” She wrote down on a napkin with a pen from her pocket the name of the book he had spoken of. ”I’ll have to read it.” Alia then put her pen away and crossed her legs once again.

”I’m Alia by the way.” She said extending a hand for him to shake should he return the gesture.

EADAN - August 27, 2005 07:33 PM (GMT)
He hesitated a moment, then slowly streched out his hand covered in silver rings and with the black word Auqeitas stained into his skin .

"The names Eadan. Pleasure to meet you Alia"

He almost let out a small yelp because her hadn was so cold or his hand was too warm , he hoped his wasn't too warm and had caused her discomfort the last thing he needed was an innocent getting burned again.

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 07:44 PM (GMT)
She noticed the word stained into his hand, but said nothing about it. If he wanted her to know he would tell her.

”Pleasure to meet you as well.” She spoke smiling once again. Indeed the shake was a mixture of temperatures which caused her curiosity to rise just a bit. It might have burned perhaps had she been anything, but what she was. But it didn’t for she cooled her hand once she pulled away from the shake.

”You live here or just passing through?” Idle chit chat never hurt anyone right? Unless you spoke with Kaldun of course. That was a whole different story.

EADAN - August 27, 2005 07:53 PM (GMT)
Eadan wasn't sure this was going anywhere but decided to plough on

"I've been here a few weeks maybe three have been a bit preoccupied so couldn't keep track of time. I havn't got a place to stay though, i'm just drifting from place to place, where ever I'm needed most you know. What about you?"

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
”I live up on the north side of town in the Fair View Apartment Complexes.” Anyone from around here were know that only the most wealthy of families and people lived in that area of town. Of course she didn’t have any choice but to live there as her parents paid for the place and wanted her to, but she wasn’t complaining. It was a nice apartment.

”So you’re new. What’s been keeping you preoccupied? New job? Relatives?” Of course it wasn’t any of her business to ask, but if he wanted to share he’d answer. If not then he wouldn’t and she’d drop the subject.

EADAN - August 27, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
"Fair View, I've heard of it, did Bill gates try to buy a place there but they said he couldn't afford it"He said with a smile on his face , knowing well BG could defiantly waste his millions there.

Then he heard it, it was still a shock even though he had known it was coming. She asked what was keeping him preoccupied, it was his fault for mentioning it and now he paid the price. Anyone else would just lie, but it wasn't something Eadan could do, but he could tell her without having to tell her.

"Same job, same job all my life. I protect all you from those who are corrupt, you could call me a cop but it wouldn't do the job justice"

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 09:05 PM (GMT)
She laughed at his comment about Bill Gates. ”I don’t think he would want to live here anyways. Much too low for his standards.” She winked at him after speaking and took another sip of her coffee.

What he said about his job gave her a few ideas of what his job could be, but didn’t inquire further.

”Well this could be the place. There are quite a few bad people running around…..among other things.” If he was innish at all then he would most likely catch on to what she was talking about; demons, vampires, werewolves, witches and mages gone bad. This town seemed to attract everything.

EADAN - August 27, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
He felt that warmth again when she laughed, but her next coment returne dhim to his old self.
He pondered her comment , was it just talk or did she know. If she didn't she would not know what he was talking about and he could drop the subject .....but if she did, she could change things quite a bit. He took the chance and leaned over the table.

"Do you know? Of the dark ones..those who do not belong, who lurk in the shadows and feed on the darkness? Do you know the ones I hunt"

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
Both hands were holding her cup of coffee as she watched him lean over to whisper about the other world. A half smile came upon her face as her eyes studied his face.

”I do.” In fact the scar that was on her neck was caused by one of those dark and mysteries things. It was still distinctly moon shaped like a bite mark.

”But they aren’t all dark.” She said as she took another sip of her coffee, finishing it off. Some of them were nice, like Lucifer, not Kaldun. She her witch tutor had been nice as well as a demon she knew a few years back. Not all of them were bad, though a mass majority were.

EADAN - August 27, 2005 09:44 PM (GMT)
" Maybe not at heart. But part of them will always be tainted" His eyes drained of life and made him look as if he was staring into the depths of his mind
"And it is my job to judge which have a chance of rebirth and which must die."

He had become tired of the dark talk; he needed something else to talk about. He would wonder about how and what she knew later. But now he needed to get onto a different subject but he was blank with ideas. It was a sad day when your mind failed you.
He bit his cherry and shivered and scrunched his face

"Arr too sweet!"he tried to smile as he said this, but wasn't sure he could

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 09:55 PM (GMT)
”Perhaps. Do you think you can handle the job of deciding who must die and who should live?” In her opinion only the gods had that right and even then she questioned their motives in that area. She’d never met one personally, but she did wonder what they thought about who warranted that someone should die and who should not. Of course she wasn’t complaining. She may not have been here now if Lucifer hadn’t called the ambulance quick enough so they could stop the bleeding from her neck.

She laughed as he said the cherry was too sweet. ”Well I would hope it wasn’t salty. Then the place might have some sanitary issues.” She said jokingly.

EADAN - August 27, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
He laughed , but not forcefully as he would noramly have done it came natuarly to him now, with out his control but it was a good feeling.

"A very good question indeed, but i beleive i was picked for this task.Ah enough with talk of death, such a dreadful thing it is we cna talk more of it later perhaps. So you said you live in Fair View, how long have you been there, may i ask?"

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
”I’ve lived here ten years. Moved here after I changed colleges to work on my masters. Liked it so much I didn’t leave.” She looked out the window for a moment, watching the cars and people go by about their everyday business. Most had no clue as to what went on in the town right underneath their noses.

”My job keeps me busy most of the time now though. I swear I think my supervisor would fall apart if I didn’t show everyday. Actually I think he almost did about a month ago.” She said chuckling.

EADAN - August 27, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
Eadan laughed as well and sipped the end of his coffee. He spun what was left of it with a spoon and waited for it to create an image; funnily enough it looked like a computer.
He and waved his hand to get another coffee and the waitress obliged.

"you said computers are your job, what exactly do you do? Make ‘em; sell ‘em?”

foreverchanging - August 27, 2005 11:47 PM (GMT)
”Others make them and I check to make sure all the gizmos are working properly and functioning okay. I also develop software and try and attempt at creating better computer parts.” She said laughing again about attempting to create better parts. Attempting was the key word as not all of them came out alright.

”My supervisor was worried that they would fall behind on their orders with my absence, but I think he managed nicely.” She had set her coffee cup aside and her fingers were now flipping pages in the book to keep them occupied.

”I must be boring you with all the computer talk.” The woman had a bad habit of doing that sometimes to people who really didn’t care about what she did.

EADAN - August 28, 2005 11:50 AM (GMT)
"Not at all" he said kindly, he wasn't terribly interested but it never hurt to know people who could work with computers "It’s still more interesting that my first job... A potato farmer" He said with a laugh "dig a hole drop in the spuds, wait for them to grow pic'em and start all over"

foreverchanging - August 28, 2005 04:47 PM (GMT)
She laughed with him also as he spoke of being a potato farmer, but not because of the job. It was because he laughed while talking about it and other people laughing usually made her laugh as well.

”Well somebody has to do it. Otherwise we wouldn’t get our potatoes now would we?”

EADAN - August 28, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
"probably be better off, dam spuds nothin' but trouble" He laughed agin, and a new smile formed on his face everytime he said a word, he had never laughed this much in a single day and now his face was sticking.

foreverchanging - August 28, 2005 09:02 PM (GMT)
”Only troublesome when grease and fat is added to them to make French fries.” Other forms were relatively healthy. A hand went to her hair and pushed it back behind her ear gently as a loose strand had fallen in front of her face.

”So how do you like this fair city so far? It’s really not all that bad I think.” She motioned for some more coffee even though she really didn’t need it.

EADAN - August 28, 2005 09:10 PM (GMT)
Eadan still hadn't started his second coffee, he was too busy talking and laughing

"As nice as a city goes, no gum, not too many cigaretts much nicer than Dublin, but personally i prefer the countryside open medows, clear blue skys only the sound of nature..away from all the troubles, and sunny can't forget sunny eveyone likes a good tan."

foreverchanging - August 28, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
”Is it pretty in Ireland. I hear the countryside is spectacular.” She was smiling as she spoke. This guy seemed rather upbeat the more she talked with him and got away from the more serious conversations.

”This city noise can be quite loud at times. Just takes a bit of getting used to.” The woman added it on as an after thought it seemed.

EADAN - August 28, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
Eadan seem upbeat but he wans't inside, inside he was fighting with himself. he was fighting whether to continue this nice conversation or to get to the point and tell her what he wanted, however the nicer sode was winning for the moment.

"its a nice little island, none of that noise you get in the cities no , but its not so bad here. Ever been to a rock concert ...now those are LOUD"

He took a sip of his special coffee but left the cherry this time, he'd learnt from the last time.

foreverchanging - August 28, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
She laughed as she had seen some of those on television as she flipped channels. ”I’m afraid I’ve missed going to those. But I’m not complaining.” It would probably make her go deft. Her ears were somewhat sensitive to extremely loud noises. A sip of her refilled coffee was now taken.

”I take it you have been to one though by the sound of it.”

EADAN - August 28, 2005 09:45 PM (GMT)
Eadan stared blankly again recalling his old memories

"only the one actually, when I was young it was a sin to eat junk food, not say the angelas, go to concerts or even go to the loo more than three times a day!"He said with a laugh, but it was true he had a strict upbringing, made him who he was today

"But as everyone one is at least once in their life I was tempted by the forbidden and I went to a concert with people I believed to be my friends, who brought me to the concert but after arranged for me to be taken, by.." he dropped his voice so no one else could hear

"By vampires, turns out my 'friends' had been dealing with the vamps for a long time , they gave them lunch and the vamps supplied them with stolen drugs, though they were too stoned to ever realise they were dealing with blood drinking monsters."

He took another sip of his drink and let it sink in then continued

" It was then I was granted a gift by the lord, that helped me beat all seven of them back, and I killed them all of 'em even the stoned guys. And I was only twelve"

foreverchanging - August 28, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
Well if that wasn’t a way to make the mood darker she didn’t know what was. Her smile had faded and eyes brows furrowed as she listened to his tragic tale and then the sudden gift that was grant to him to help fight back against the vampires. She sat there quietly for a while after he had spoken to fully grasp what he had just said and trying to figure out how to respond to the story. Nobody had spoken so quickly about themselves in such a dark fashion to a total stranger. Did he trust her or just didn’t care who he told?

”So that’s your job? To go around killing creatures, because of wrong doings?” It didn’t sound like a very healthy or fun occupation to have. But if it was ‘granted’ to him it seemed like he had no choice.

EADAN - August 28, 2005 10:10 PM (GMT)
He sighed he had recieved this answer before

"I'm sorry i have a tendency to darken any good mood, but you can see why. When i got home my granny told me she knew it was going to happen that she had been granetd a vision but still let me go just to prove how wrong it was to be taken by the lure of the forbidden. She told me that i should trust no one but the one who gave helped me, but she added later that i also had to trust her and my family or her message was pointless." He said this with a forming smile, but he hadn't answered the question, and he hadn't answered on purpose, it was not something he wanted to get into now.

foreverchanging - August 28, 2005 10:17 PM (GMT)
”Yes. Trusting your family is a very important thing. Otherwise we would be very lonely people with nobody to trust in the world. Perhaps people just need to have faith that there are good people amongst the bad. I hope you can distinguish between the two in your line of work for it can be quite difficult to do so at times. Some people that don’t seem like trustworthy people are sometimes the most trusting you can find.” She hoped that made sense to him for she seemed to ramble at times.

”Have you seen your family in a while or spoken with them?” She hoped she wasn’t prying too much into his life.

EADAN - August 28, 2005 10:23 PM (GMT)
"well i beleive you are trust worthy and i'm sure i'm right"He smiled at her and spun his coffe with his spoon

" Last time i spoke to them was two christmas's ago ..when my dad died."
he looked at her and got the feeling she felt guilty for bringing it up

"Don't fret about it, he was a good man lived healthily but his heart just tricked out . Doc said it was something to do with his blood maybe all the turkey fat he ate.
Only ones left are my mother, younger brother and sister, she lives in the states, its part of the reason i travelled across the worst ocean in the world in a boat"

foreverchanging - August 28, 2005 10:32 PM (GMT)
Indeed she really felt guilty now as he spoke of his father passing away. Just seemed to get even more depressing. He tried to reassure her though that it wasn’t anything to fret about.

”Siblings. Do you get along with them? I hear most fight with one another, but I wouldn’t know.” Meaning she was an only child if he hadn’t figured that out. It felt somewhat lonely at times.

EADAN - August 29, 2005 07:39 AM (GMT)
"Never had time to fight, we wwere always moving usualy seperately. The only times we werea all together was at dinner where we were all stuffing our faces with spuds or when we went to mass but of course you can't say anything besides the word of the lord is mass"

He had taken in she was an only child or possibly ws separted at birth or fostered but he didn't really need to go into it.he finished off the last of his coffee and sit back and closed his eyes for a moment, strange that after two cups of coffe he felt tired.

foreverchanging - August 29, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
”Sounds familiar.” There were times in her upbringing that her parents were rarely around, away on business or something of the sort. Perhaps a vacation they did not wish to bring a child along with them. Which is why she is a pretty independent person now days and it seems that the man before her is similar in that aspect.

”Wasn’t it hard on you? Moving around I mean.”

EADAN - August 29, 2005 06:33 PM (GMT)
"I was young didn't know to how to feel , jus grew up with it and it became natural so it wasn't hard. Comming here was hard though, those customs are a nightmare"He laughed.

He was now trying to get off the topic of his family as he wasn't in the mood for more talk of it and he didn't think she needed to know any more about that part of his life, yet.
