Title: geeks come out at night
Description: for Em

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 07:05 AM (GMT)
3:15 am is what Sinister's watch said when he depressed the button to illuminate the face. He had been sleep walking again. He was in dorms, just not the block he lived in. Now that he'd woken up he would have to reorient himself and get back to his own room pronto. It wouldn't do to be noticed wandering the dorms at this hour in nothing but boxers and a white t-shirt.

There would be no end to the hazing about the 14 year old nerd boy if people found out. He was short and still had baby fat in addition to freckles. He was still what you could call adorable. It bugged him to no end, who ever heard of an adorable math major?

His feet were cold and damp. He'd woken up when he'd walked into a wall. He hoped he hadn't disturbed anyone when he'd done it. He wasn't sure if he should tell Shelly he'd been sleep walking. He didn't know what his case worker might recommend if she knew. He brushed sleep crumbs from his eyes and cursed that he never thought while he was sleep walking to put on socks.

Massacist - July 8, 2005 07:27 AM (GMT)
Emrys hadn't, luckily, been sleep walking but he may as well have been for all he could see. He'd been sleeping just fine, that is, Until Verkur made a kill and the kill caused a vision and the vision invaded his dreams. He'd gone into seizures before he'd even had a chance to wake up and had scratched his chest so badly he couldn't just roll over and pretend it was a nightmare.

Instead, he'd tended to his chest using his homemade salves, then pulled on a shirt, as he'd been sleeping in blue jeans, and put his blind fold securly over his scared eyes. His black hair didn't matter, because push it back and it would only fall forward again. He'd fumbled around for his cane, a pack of cigerettes, and a lighter and finally left the dorm room and walked steadily down the stairs.

He was crossing the yard to the smoking area, his cane swishing lightly over the grass lawn, when he'd heard a distinct thud, very close to his right hand side. He'd frozen like a deer, straining his ears to listen.

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 07:35 AM (GMT)
After a couple minutes Sin managed to figure out which way would lead him back out. But he was so busy checking behind him to make sure no one had seen him like this that he walked into another wall instead of going out.

Ugh, and some one was out there and had no doubt seen him. Blast it, he was going to have to start sleeping in something else if this was going to be routine. He couldn't just wander around Keaton in the predawn in his skivies.

Strangely who ever was out there had completely frozen. So now someone was standing there motionless. He hoped they hadn't poised to take a snap shot. There was still no movent as he drew closer, barely whipering, as he walked barefoot.

"Are you okay?" he asked puzzled by the stillness and then he saw the blindfold. This was odd.

Massacist - July 8, 2005 07:45 AM (GMT)
Emrys didn't move, in fact, everything in his body tightened with tension and anticipation. He turned his head to the side, almost like a hawk. But the way he turned was definatly not the direction that the other was in. He'd turned his ear towards the boy, to hear him better, to listen to his footfalls. WIth each light step the other made, grass rustled. If he were not blind, he probably wouldn't have heard that. Since he'd become blind, he'd found that his hearing and smell had improved ten fold, compensating for his eyes or lack there of.

He licked his lips, ran his tongue over them several times, in fact, to moisten them, but his tongue was so dry it helped very little. His lips formed the begining of a word that wouldn't come out. Finally he could force it through his throat. He didn't whisper. If he whispered it wouldn't be understandable. His voice is a rasping sound, like someone whose been screaming all day, or smokes too much, or somehow had damaged their vocal. It was definatly not a born-with sort of voice.

"Who.....who are you?" Please not the kid. Please don't be the kid. Or the angel. not the Angel. His wounds from the kid beating him up had finally began to fade, the bruises gone, the scabs starting to fade. Alice, well, he hadn't hurt him yet. Yet. But Verkur had brought Alice to him and that means Alice can't be good in any way of form if he socializes with the demon. He knew it wasn't Verkur. Verkur wouldn't sneak up on him. He'd just drop down in front of him or grab him. If Verkur were sneaking and didn't want Emrys to know he was there, Emrys wouldn't know.

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 07:55 AM (GMT)
"Sin Dempsey, I promise I'm harmless, though I do hate admitting it."he said. His voice was still a boy's voice, he could be a bloody choir boy, something else he hates. "Are you okay?" he querried again, even more curious if the guy was after hearing his voice. It was so raspy sounding, sort of like he imagined sand paper would sound like if it talked.

He didn't see anyone else about, so it was something of a wonder for Sin to think this guy had been nearly petrified stiff over lil'ol him. He was relieved that the guy couldn't see him though, see how cute he was, or how he was dressed at the moment.

Massacist - July 8, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
"No. You aren't harmless." But he did seem to ease a little when he realized the other wasn't coming much closer. He turned his head and, were it not for the blindfold over his eyes, he would be looking directly at the other. Or rather, directly over his head. Emrys isn't tall, in fact, for an average male from Wales, he was rather short. But he was a few inches taller then Sin's short height.

He wasn't harmless sense the last person to mess his face up had been short, young, and offered to help him home. He just couldn't trust anyone at all anymore. Period. Well...except maybe Hawthorne, and that was a big maybe.

"What's your name?"

He straightened and his hands immediatly fell into an easy hold on his cane, one that would be very easy to swing the wooden stick at someone who got too close for comfort. His hands were scared, nearly half way to the elbows.

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 08:16 AM (GMT)
"It's Patrick, but people call me Sin, cause I hate Pat. And seriously, I think I am harmless I was sleep walking, I'm only half dressed. What's your name? he asked. Cleary this guy had something to be nervous over the way he was acting. Though Sin supposed that being blind probably made him as much a target for people's ignorance as being young and too smart did, if not more so.

"If you're going to be alright I'm going to go back to bed, I have a test in the morning, later today, you know what I mean." he was saying moving out of range of that cane. He sould see the guy get ready to use it if need be. Sin just shook his head, the world really is a screwed up place, when people mess with a blind man so much he's paranoid of a samll boy.

Massacist - July 8, 2005 08:22 AM (GMT)
That's because he's more afraid, at the current time, of small boys and big demons then he is of anything else in the world. He could hear the kid backing away. It should be a comfort, it isn't. It only reminds him of the kid on the street. Emrys had declined his help and the boy had walked away. Then followed him forever, messing with his head, before finally attacking him.

He nodded his head slowly. It was bad when the man had to think whether it was safer to decline or accept a young boy's help. "Yeah yeah." Tests in the morning sucks. "I'm fine. I just...want to smoke and go to bed. That's it." Please don't hurt me.

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 08:33 AM (GMT)
"Walking to the other side of campus barefoot sucks.....though I got here barefoot, it won't kill me." he comments still moving away his bare feet mincing through the wet grass. "Well be careful then, Mr. I still don't know your name." Sin says making horrible faces walking through the wet dew laden grass.

Wet grass, makes him sure why his feet were cold, socks would not have helped. Maybe he should just start sleeping fully clothed. He sneezes a few times as he walks off. periodically he glances back at the strange blind man, and wonders what has made him such a cynical fellow.

It is surprising Sin isn't more cynical considering how he came to be orphaned, but he isn't he is a small somewhat sheltered boy, who lately has been sleepwalking.

Massacist - July 8, 2005 08:45 AM (GMT)
He listened to his footsteps backing away and he himself took several back until he felt at a safe distance. Three times the length of his three foot staff. He stopped moving at Sin's words. Sin's nick name hadn't helped insure his safeness to Emrys. It made him suspicious.

"Em."

He always gave away his shortened name. Never his full first name and never his last. His first name was just too rare. He was the only Emrys in the Student log at Keaton. He was the fourth possible 'Em' on the list as there was Emanuel, Emily, Emma, and another Emrys.

Maybe he was going out on the limb, talking to this boy...Pat...Sin. Patrick. But he felt at a safe distance, and at least here, unlike in the night time city, if he screamed for help, someone would at least look out the window.

"Bless you." It doesn't matter who you are, if someone sneezes, you bless them automatically. It's like greeting someone by saying 'how are you?' No one really cares, they just say it.

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 08:55 AM (GMT)
"Thank you." the boy acknowledges as he hops around on one foot for a minute to deal with a pebble. "I must start sleeping in shoes, this is becoming a habit." he says more to himself than to Em.

After a minute he begins walking normally again. He seems to be singing quadratic equations to himself as he moves away.

The sprinklers pop out of the lawn and begin doing their worst, thoroguhly soaking Sin. He hisses as the cold water hits him. "Maybe I'll start chaining myself to the bed." he muses out loud.

Massacist - July 8, 2005 09:03 AM (GMT)
"Sleep walking?"

Depending if it was restlessness or psychological, Emrys might have a solution for him. If it was restlessness he did. Anything to do with the body, Emrys was your man.

The sound of the sprinkler system does it's worst for Emyrs too. Only, soaking him wasn't the problem. The sprinklers popped up and made a whirring sound and Emrys stumbled backwards away from the kid. His bare heel hit the sprinkler and he fell backwards. As he landed, he was panting. His eyes were open wide beneath the blindfold, which was currnetly crooked, showing a slight bit of white scar to match those on his hands.

"Shit." he panted in a rasping voice, then turning his head, trying to hear the others footsteps over the sound of spraying water (completly impossible) he repeated, "shit."

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 09:15 AM (GMT)
He doesn't see what has happened until he turns to see the cause for Em's swearing. In light of the fellow's paranoia he asks before approaching, "Would you like help, or is there someone I should go get to help you?" he really doesn't want to get hit with a cane.

"And Yes I sleep walk, only recently, dunno why. I'm afraid to tell my caseworker, might take me out of classes or something." he says quietly.

Massacist - July 8, 2005 09:21 AM (GMT)
He shook his head. What was funny, he'd dropped the cane in attempt to keep his balance, only to fall over anyways. Now he's searching for it with one hand while straightening the blindfold with the other.

"No. No one. Thanks. No help." His fingers brushed wood and he closed his hand around the cane. He got to his feet then, gripping the cane as if it was his only safty. Really it was. His magic was in healing, visions, and something he couldn't control.

"Caseworker. Classes?" He's begining to peice togather why a boy of only so many years would be sleepwalking on campus of a college. "You go to Keaton?"

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 09:32 AM (GMT)
"Yes I'm a math major." Sin says."They tell me I am the youngest student here. I do hope no one sees me going back to my room like this." he says.

A young boy in wet underwear crossing campus....that will get noticed by some one Sin is sure. He resists the urge to swear himself. "You wouldn't be willing to loan me a towel I suppose, If I promise to stay away from you?" he asks, it would be nice to have something to wrap around his waist. He feels indecent as he is.

Massacist - July 8, 2005 09:38 AM (GMT)
Emrys stood, his face in Sin's direction for a very long time. Finally he shifts just a little.

"Let me touch you." It's after the words leave his mouth he realizes how bad it must sound and quickly shakes his head, stuttering out a correction. "I...I mean...I meant just..." he stops, takes a slow breath and holds it. Then more slowly he says, "on your face."

Most people would take it this means that he wants to feel their faces, build a mental image of them. Really, its what Emrys wants them to think. Really, all he needs to build an image is to touch, and he'll see them, firey and blurry and breifly, but better then his world of nothing. That and, if they're terrible people, he gets visions, glimpses of what they've done, what they do.

He holds out one hand, straight in front of him. The scars are smooth, lighter then his dark skin, and cover his hand and part of his arm like a glove. It looks melted smooth. His hand is shaking visably.

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 09:44 AM (GMT)
"Alright." the boy answers and approaches slowly,"Promise not to club me with your cane though." the last is half jest. He tries not to stare at the scars, it is after all rude to stare. It somehow seems even ruder when the person you're straing at can't tell you are. At least it does to Sin. He also doesn't ask about it, it's rude to pry, he knows this from personal experience. Finally he stands within Em's grasp.

Massacist - July 8, 2005 09:53 AM (GMT)
Emrys would know he was staring. He could guess it at any given time. But Emrys knows the feeling when eyes linger too long. It's a feeling he gets more often then even his fear. He lowered the cane to his side to show he wouldn't hurt him. His hand didn't waver in the air, just shook.

When his fingers came in contact with wet skin, he could 'see'. It was like watching a picture made of fire, pale fire. He could see outlines and images of the face he was touching. And innocnece. Pure innocence. This kid hadn't hurt anyone, and Emrys let his hand rome over the boy's face as the image that only lasted seconds remained to him through the emptiness. He let his fingers roam because it was what was expected.

His fingers, also wet, are smooth. The scars are as sleek as they look. He drops his hand and nods slowly. "Come with me. I'll give you pants and you can just return them after your test this later." He turned, using the cane to guid him around the water spickets, he started the way he'd come from.

K-Squared - July 8, 2005 09:59 AM (GMT)
"Pants would be good." Sin acknowledged. He made sure he followed at a distance, no need to seem pushy.

"So what are you studying?" he asked as they walked, it seemed a safe enough topic of discusion. His feet squeeked strangely on the tile once they were inside. Sin could feel broken blades of grass in between his toes.

Massacist - July 12, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)
"Medicine," he replied, walking barefoot up the side stairs and onto the second landing of the dorm building he'd come from. Three doors and he stopped, pulling a long chain with one key out of his shirt and unlocking the door. The inside of the room was cluttered with books, two beds (only one occupied), a love seat and a chair as well as a card table and kitchen chair, a counter, stove, oven, sink, and wall of cabnet space along one wall, and herbs, jars, and bottles everywhere. Herbs hung from the ceiling drying, even. Well, you know more in detail what Emrys' room looks like from previous posts.

He began to dig around in a pile of clothing, possibly clean and possibly dirty. It was impossible to know unless you were Emrys. "Sit," he offered, "just clear a space."

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
"Okay." Sin said sitting down after clearing a space. "You're into natural remedies I take it?" he asked on looking around the room. It smelled pleasant if different to him. He'd never seen so many herbs in one place.

He's also never seen quite so many books in a person'e living space. He picks one up and looks at it while he sits, curious to see it it's in braile.

Thorn - July 12, 2005 03:52 AM (GMT)
He heard the book open and lifted his head to turn in that direction. He reached out and touched the spine of the make-shift, leather binding of the book and read it's title. Then he pointed to a shelf.

"It's match is over there." Ah, so half the books are original, the other half are the brail, homemade copies. Makes some semblance of sense. He found a pair of black cargo pants and held them back, turning his back so that the boy could change, even though he couldn't see him anyways.

Massacist - July 12, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
OOC: ner....that was me. *kicks computer*

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 04:41 AM (GMT)
"Cool." Sin said about the books, it made sense and Sin's mind liked things that made sense. He changed into the pants, they weren't a perfect fit, but it sure beat the alternative. "Thanks." he said about the pants.

Looking around he room he said, "You must spend a lot of time in here."

Massacist - July 12, 2005 04:50 AM (GMT)
"It's safer then being out there." He replied. He listened to the fabric, then the zipper and turned again to face the boys general direction. "Yes, I spend a lot time here. It's comfortable." he pushed a pile of clothing out of the chair and sat down slowly.

"Tell me about your sleep walking. Is it nightmares or just something you do."

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 05:01 AM (GMT)
"Well I don't remember any dreams, or anything, I just wake up and find myself wandering around. It started not long after I came here to live on campus. But like I said, I haven't told my case worker, I don't want to have to leave now that I've made it here." he explained. He didn't volunteer that if this didn't work out he'd be back in an orphanage or grouphome. He wanted this to work out, he'd worked very hard for it.

Massacist - July 12, 2005 06:25 AM (GMT)
Emrys nodded. He didn't seem to be afraid of the boy anymore, a mixture of having seen the other and knowing he couldn't be nearly as harsh as Verkur or Logan or Alice. Part of this was because the physician in him was begining to come to hand.

"Well it could be dreams compelling you to move. Or it could be something bothering you mentally. Or it could just be your body is restless. I can help with that but the first two," he shook his head. "I'm not good with anything mental. Just physical."

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 06:38 AM (GMT)
"How would I even find out what's causing it?" Sin asked, it would be cool if he didn't have to go through it anymore, but he knew not to get his hopes up.

" I don't think I'm going crazy or anything, they made me take a whole bunch of tests before they let me register for classes." he told Em.

At least now that they were talkign a bit, the man no longer seemed to feel threatened by him. It made him wonder what had happened, it also made him believe Em hadn't been born blind.

Massacist - July 12, 2005 07:04 AM (GMT)
Emrys had definatly not been born blind. He'd created his own dark world by a terrible mistake. Only one person knew that truth. And she'd faded from his life a long time before, not a lover but a possible mother. Someone he'd called mother.

"Well, if it was psychological doesn't necissarily mean crazy, just...distracted, or even guilt or stress can make it happen. If it's restlessness and all physical, that too doesn't mean 'out of control' so much as 'just need to move around'."

He sat back and stretched until his back was stright against the back of the chair. "The only way I know to find out is to get checked up. Like I said, I don't know much about the human physc. As for physical, I could give you herbs to try, a tea really."

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 07:15 AM (GMT)
"I'm going to guess it you'r suggesting it, It won't have adverse affects if restlessness isn't the problem?" Sin asked.

Yep that's how Sin is, trusting and innocent, no qualms about taking strange herbal medicines from some person he hardly knows. The notion that such a thing might be dangerous is alien to him.

"I guess I'll try it, gotta beat wandering around campuss half naked." He said after giving it just a little thought.

Thorn - July 12, 2005 10:29 AM (GMT)
"It wouldn't. It's only tea. But if you drink it it tends to make you more tired, makes you feel.....heavy." In other words, it makes your body not restless. And if restlessness isn't the problem you'll probably sleep walk anyways but you won't get as far as fast as you usually would. Simple.

"I can make it now if you wish. It is only a ground herb you may put into hot water and let dissolve." So trusting...to his untrusting.

*NAR NAR NAR!!! Stupid computer. *heavy Sigh* It's Emrys.*

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 10:40 AM (GMT)
Sinister waited while Em prepared the herbs. "So what type of medicine are you most interested in? Sin asks, endless curiosity the boy has. He is trying to be polite, but he is always so curious.

He makes sure he understands the instrucions for the tea. Then also thinks to ask, "What's the best time to return the pants to you?"

Massacist - July 12, 2005 10:54 AM (GMT)
"I've a class at five this evening and that will run until seven. From there I usually go to the cafateria but I will come back here to collect them."

He picked the herbs from the ceiling, crumbling them into a bowl and useing a spoon to crush them into a fine powdery dust. He then emptied it into a baggy and sealed the top. He held it out.

"It's only enough for one tea, just to try it out." And to answer his question, "old world. I like to work with herbs and salves. I was raised in Wales by a woman who fancied things like that."

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 11:07 AM (GMT)
"Cool thanks." Sin says eagerly. He is sure to note the time he should return the pants. He is a typical hyper 14 year old, it is restlessness that has him up and wandering. He is always into everything, Em is likely picking up on this, having the boy in his room for even a brief time. Sin is active and eager.

"Let me know if I can return the favor." he says as he moves towards the door.

Massacist - July 12, 2005 11:11 AM (GMT)
Actually, Emrys finds it both inticing and hurtful, the boys activity and energy. Once upon a time, he'd been just like that. In fact, he'd been exactly like that, always racing the shore, running the beaches, fishing, collecting shell fish, learning. Then he'd lost his sight and grown up over a very short time. He envied Sin.

"No. I don't need favors. Just tell me tomorrow if it has worked for you." He walked after the boy and opens the door for him.

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 11:15 AM (GMT)
"Okay I can do that." the boy promises eagerly. Before departing, still brimming with energy. It's amazing the pip-squeak doesn't cartwheel down the hall.

( OOC Guess thats it till he shows up to return the pants)

Massacist - July 12, 2005 06:25 PM (GMT)
It's a little past seven, and Emrys has tucked himself away in his room, his short, stocky build tucked into the chair with a text book and a note book in his lap. The note book is handwritten, and though none of the words over lap, and everything is coherent and neatly written, the sentances rather slope down a good deal. And the text book, well, it's a regular text book with all the black ink words only, to every odd page, brail is punched over the regular writing. There's a second copy at his feet with all the even pages punched in brail. It's a good system but it means he's got to buy two copies of one book and pay for it to be printed in brail.

He's in blue jeans again, and this time a fairly form fitted white tee-shirt. Some people notice, Emrys (being unable to see) hasn't yet noticed that wearing white shows faintly that his skin over his chest and back maintain a dark tan and then a whiter, smooth area. He'd have stopped wearing white if he'd known. His scared hands and fingertips are running over the brail.

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 06:40 PM (GMT)
Sinister made his way to Em's dorm to go return the pants. He has them in his back pack and he is just finishing a burrito as he comes to the door. He finishes chewing before knocking on the door. Then he stands taking a few sips from a water bottle while he waits for admitance.

It only takes a minute before he hears noises at the door.

Massacist - July 12, 2005 06:51 PM (GMT)
Emrys started at the tapping on the door and closed his eyes.

Calm down Emrys. Verkur doesn't knock. He enters. The boy doesn't know where you live. But...Alice... He didn't know the angel well enough to know that he would knock or not. don't worry. It's around seven. You told Sin to come at seven.

The blind man stood slowly and, carrying the books, moved towards the door and leaned his hands against it.

"Who is it?" came his raspy, ruined voice.

K-Squared - July 12, 2005 07:07 PM (GMT)
"Sin Dempsey." Sinister answered when asked who he was. No doubt Em was being cautious, it semed in keeping with the man's earlier behavior. "I've come to return the pants." Though he was sure that Em remembered, he felt the need to add the last just so the mand could possitively identify his voice.

He took a few more sips of water while he waited.
