Title: Walking Home
Description: Feeling Grey
Wysteria - August 24, 2004 08:34 PM (GMT)
Even the good end of town has its alleys, its dumpsters, its garbage. Tastefully hidden, but there nontheless.
It also has support personel. The invisible people who keep everything running smoothly. The waiters. The cooks. The maids.
The kitchen staff.
Jeff lugged the bag of garbage outside, balancing it on his hip and wishing halfheartedly that he'd been keeping up with that exercise program he'd been trying to hold to for the past... gods, was it a year already? Yeah, probably. For the past year. This smelly stuff was heavy. Kitchen waste, old food and leftovers and spoiled meat.
Jeff's going to smell like garbage until he gets around to his next shower this evening. It's as inevitable as the daily necessity of emptying the main garbage bin. A upper-crust restaurant like this one didn't operate on silverware alone, after all. The pale young man heaved, letting the bag go with a sigh of relief as it dropped with a sickening Thump (and smell) into the dumpster.
---
Half an hour later, Jeff was trudging home, wishing the weather matched his mood. But no, it just had to be bright and sunny, not overcast. Even the weather hated him today.
He's wearing a long coat, grey, a hat, grey, and so-old-as-to-have-become-grey sneakers. Without the benefit of helpful coloration, his hair looks strawlike, his eyes a muddy greyblue and his skin pastey. Not the most appealing character, to say the least. His posture is hunched, his gaze downcast. It would be completely unsurprising if he ran into someone- Jeff definitely isn't watching where he's going. At least the pavement was a nice depressed grey.

(ooc: i think i will join in - that is if you dont mind)
Trin, still wearing her clingy, sparclly black trousers and her thickish white sleved, low cut top from her not so party night out is also not looking where she is going, its too cold (for she would have looked silly in her thick blue coat) and she was board, her mind not realy thinking any thing but trying to shut out the wind. She, of corse with the night she is already haveing, ends up walking strait into Jeff.
"Ow, sorry i wasnt looking where i was going"

Everyone was out to get him today. Jeff glared sullenly at the girl, ignoring for the moment that it was his fault. The guy's muddy-seeming eyes slid up and down her, judging completely on appearance. He'd gotten into that habit, over the past few years.
It hadn't made him any friends, of course.
"Yeah. Sure. Whatever." Not communicative, is he. See, he's decided he doesn't like her. She's too... wild. He doesn't trust girls who look like they go out for wild nights on the town.
He's had bad experiences.
He's also a pessimist for today. He wasn't normally, but he'd just moved here, he got lost everywhere, he felt completely out of control of his life, he was basically broke, he hadn't cooked anything worthwhile in weeks, and in a word, he was having a bad day.

"Bad day, too?"One of Trin's problems was she liked to help people, and yes it was a problem bacause most of the time she cant and ends up feeling bad about it.
The guy looks miserable, infact in all that gray he reminded her of one of the stone statues you see in parks - the ones coverd in bird...mess, complety misrable, she felt sorry for him she had to admit it.

Jeff shrugged, face still mullishly unhappy. "You could say that. I can't stand this weather."
When in doubt, talk about the weather. There's nothing as boring as the weather, and it was also a good way to sound out people's... ways. Leave it at that. God knew Jeff did.
The weather was, as mentioned earlier, beautiful. It just didn't fit his mood, so the man blamed it.

"hmm" she said looking up "abit too cold for me" She was all scrunched up trying to keep warm "but at least the sun is shineing and there is not much breeze, what is it you dont like about it?" his dull manner reminded her of one of the other kids at the home.

He glanced upward, blond hair getting in his eyes before he impatiently shoved it backwards. "Too cheerful." It's a city. Cities have no right to be cheerful.
He thought for a moment, still gazing upwards, and finally added, with the air of someone making a great consession "The sun's nice, though." The sun was a comfort to him.
Trinity - August 28, 2004 08:48 PM (GMT)
"yer, its surprising how the sun can change peoples moods - it can just be a problem when it trys to change it for some one that needs to be unhappy, i mean we cant be happy all the time can we?"she said this with a light smile and a slight cock of her head.

He stared at her for a very long moment. She was reading his mind, or something like it, and he did not like that. At all. Time to leave.
Jeff didn't like things he couldn't explain. This girl just fell into that category. Thank you and good bye, little lady. He turned abruptly, legs already moving.
