Title: Final college decisions

Seth - January 17, 2004 04:51 AM (GMT)
So, where is everyone finally ending up, and what goodies are they offering you? It would be interesting to see how many MSA-ers got into good schools.

As for me, I'll prolly be heading off to OU. $65,000 plus perks is not peanuts. Johns Hopkins is a long shot (not because I'm scared I won't get in, but b/c it's a long ways away and I don't think Mom and Dad would let me go that far ;) )

Ryan - January 20, 2004 10:04 PM (GMT)
I'm going to UMR... a measly $7750 a year, but then again it doesn't cost very much to go there.

BoBayles - January 20, 2004 10:23 PM (GMT)
I too am going to Rolla. The Chancellor's Scholarship is $10K, and hopefully I'll get some local scholarships to cover the difference. Classes start August 23rd, which seems awfully early to me.

AshleyG - January 21, 2004 01:43 AM (GMT)
I've just been telling everyone SMS but I'm still looking at some other options that might pay for more of the costs...so I guess I'm still undecided.

caitc - January 21, 2004 03:46 AM (GMT)
I want to be decided SOO badly. Still waiting on three letters though. And money too like ashley said, that's my scary part. any suggestions for how to decide?

Aubrey_Smith2002 - January 21, 2004 04:27 AM (GMT)
I'm going to SMSU, and right now they're offering around $7,000, but hopefully I'll get the Presidential Scholarship and $10,000. My school started August 21st last year, so August 23rd is actually a nice change.

Ryan - January 22, 2004 12:28 AM (GMT)
Cait, ever try eenie-meeny-miney-mo?

caitc - January 24, 2004 04:19 AM (GMT)
Sweet!!! That's all I needed to know :D Thanks for the wonderful advice, haha.

Aubrey_Smith2002 - January 30, 2004 03:13 PM (GMT)
you could also sacrifice a small animal, throw it on top of a burning altar, and try to interpret the smoke's path as a sign as to which college you should attend. works for me all the time.

BoBayles - January 31, 2004 05:07 AM (GMT)
My plan was to go for the school that gave me the most free pens, T-shirts, toys, and etc.... don't rule it out.

*begins to create top ten list of "how to pick your future college or university*

I always wanted to be on letterman.

Aubrey_Smith2002 - February 20, 2004 03:44 AM (GMT)
Is anyone going to the Presidential Scholarship Luncheon/Interview Day next Saturday at SMS?

Aubrey_Smith2002 - March 4, 2004 07:44 PM (GMT)
Well, I saw a grand total of one other MSAer: Kristen Kemper (who happened to be in my major). :D If you were there and I didn't see you, that sucks. There's always tomorrow or whenever the next reunion is. :)

BoBayles - March 10, 2004 11:18 PM (GMT)
Speaking of that, let's make that sometime before June.

caitc - March 15, 2004 02:28 AM (GMT)
Is anyone going to visit Truman State on saturday for the open house? I do expect to see scholars there... I hope!

Aubrey_Smith2002 - March 18, 2004 03:38 AM (GMT)
Well, even though no forum MSAers were there, I guess I'll post it anyway that I got the Presidential Scholarship. No debt from college for me! :D

caitc - March 22, 2004 02:41 AM (GMT)
After seven applications, a turn down, a wait list, and lots of government worded financial aid info, I have decided to go to Truman State University :D . I too will be DEBTLESS!!! thanks to the Truman Leadership Award. I am very excited in being completely decided finally...
Several of you may be pleased to know that, coincidentally, the advice you gave for chosing one's college worked... pen and tshirt count of 3 and 1 respectively for truman--- six other schools, zilch. oh but i didn't burn my dog alive and watch the smoke.

emily_6396 - March 29, 2004 03:13 AM (GMT)
Truman Leadership!!!!! Me too!!!!!!!!!!! :D My friend thinks I'm crazy because I turned down Presidential for a school 45 minutes from my house. But then again she picked Culver Stockten so what can I say.

Next time you are in Kirksville let me know. I can show you the finer points of the town. lol

pigtails - March 29, 2004 03:30 AM (GMT)
well... after a lot of conversations with myself, and a few with my mom too... I am going with Truman State. I think i'll transfer at some point, like when i have a better idea of what i want to do with my life...but until then i feel pretty comfortable with the thought of going to Truman, and that wasn't something i was getting from anywhere else.

caitc - March 29, 2004 11:35 PM (GMT)
Scholars at Truman! SweeeEEET! :w00t: I don't believe I will be in kirksville again until truman week... We were there a couple of weeks ago and it's a bloody long drive, but if I come I'll let ya know. I am so excited you guys are going there too!

Feezor - April 14, 2004 04:12 PM (GMT)
Congratulations everybody on getting your colleges chosen!

As for me, it'll be MU. They're only giving me $5500, though. Since I plan to go to vet school, I've applied to the Pre-Vet Scholars Program which would give me automatic admission into vet school so I can skip the whole admission process. Wish me luck! I have to go in for the interview sometime in the next few weeks and I'm pretty nervous...

Woohoo... only 25 days of school left for seniors... :D

KevMa - April 24, 2004 02:05 AM (GMT)
Hey everyone,
This is Kevin Ma. Seth took forever to validate me for this forum. As for college, at this moment I will be going to Johns Hopkins University and studying Biomedical Engineering. I got wait listed from Duke and Stanford and am curious to hear back from them in lay May. I wouldn't mind living in Cali and chilling at Stanford for four years. But as of now JHU is where I'll be at. I did get some Bloomberg Scholarship and some other scholarships for National Merit and such but I def have to pay a good 22,000 bucks a year. Can u say hello to gov loans. Oh well. I think it'll be worth it. Anyone else headed to the East Coast?

Kevin Ma

<more or less back on topic>
I'm at Iowa (UI, not IAState) right now, why don't you come up here? :D

Seth - April 24, 2004 04:44 AM (GMT)
Right now? What are ya doing there??

Polarris Delsan - April 24, 2004 04:37 PM (GMT)

Have I not mentioned this?

caitc - April 24, 2004 07:28 PM (GMT)

Seth - April 24, 2004 10:47 PM (GMT)

mjbauer - April 24, 2004 11:40 PM (GMT)
Anyone heading off to WU?

AshleyG - June 17, 2004 11:44 PM (GMT)
I'm finally somewhat decided too..SMS with tution paid and half of my room and board. Only when I registered this mornign they still had be classed as Precollege Student from last summer and I was trying to have double the amount of credit hours allowed for a PC. Luckily, my advisor was nice enough to register me anyways, lol.

Aubrey_Smith2002 - June 20, 2004 06:22 AM (GMT)
awww...Ashley, i just missed you. i was registering at SMS on Monday and Tuesday. :/

AshleyG - June 22, 2004 12:42 AM (GMT)
Its okay..A "BOOMBA" snuck up from behind me and scared the living daylights out of me, lol.
