Title: Growing older...

Himura - July 16, 2003 11:42 AM (GMT)
I no longer like platform games and the majority of action games, when I was a child they were all I would play. No I look for games that need time to be put in; games like final fantasy and Warcraft3. I sit here and think am I the ONLY person who doesent like Grand Theft Auto 3 or Metal Gear Solid, looking around my group of friends it would seem the answer is yes. Perhaps that is what is wrong with me I only like a handful of games, and games that many people love such as Advance Wars leave me bored.

well, what do you like? im sure you can find some similar games to the ones you already like. if i ever feel like im getting bored of games, i always go for the most pick-up-able and playable game on the shelf. it sounds like you need a 'bout of ikaruga.

I am older and therefore have a womang [1], house, 4 year old "Kato" child and lots of other stuff that needs doing. My gaming needs therefore consist of something I can pick up and put down easily without having to invest hours and hours of my time. So yes something is wrong with you. Freak.

[1] Please not age does not guarantee getting a partner. I cannot be held responsible if you get to 30 and still live with your mum (Boys) or in a big house with 36 cats and a moustache (Girls)

I do not like MGS/MGS2.

Unfortunatly its hard not to like GTA 3+, at least for a while.

Ikaruga is great fun, but unfortunately I cannot get past the third stage >_<

Just make sure the moustache is house-trained, like the cats, otherwise they can make a hell of a mess. And don't let it fight with the beard . . .

But yes, Himura is obviously not *that* old or he'd have gone back to action games you can fit into ten minutes' worth of play.

Cheers,
Smac

I'm old and am looking for games which provide a quick fix. My free time is limited considerably in comparison with my student days. Any game requiring hours of play/practice to get into is asking too much from me.

You, sir, need to purchase yourself a copy of WarioWare Inc, and possibly a GBA to play it on if you're one of those gameboy-lacking peasants. It's perfect for a 'quick bash', being made up of approximately 17.4 million minigames*. It is also this: bloody marvelous. You know you want it. Oh yes.

Note: If you're a wrinkly you should get a GBA SP, not the old GBA, as your dirty old eyes will most likely be too squinted up to see the infamous dark-o-screen of the original.

I find that age has only lead me to more consoles, and thus more varied games. I was somewhat unnerved when I noticed my 11 year old brother had like twice the number of Gamecube games than I did. But he does pick up a lot of games that I wouldn't. He did pick up Enter the Matrix, but I think he's learned from that.

So now I don't worry that he has a few games that I don't. I like to think that my collection is now "refined", containing most of the better games on all formats. I'm probly just kidding myself though.

How dare you sirrah! My old eyes can see my GBA screen perfectly!*

Hey old man. Mario Golf is out soon, like, the end of this month or something. A game based on that doddery old passtime spunked up with a bit of Koopa lovin' is bound to suit you well.

I was thirty on Sunday - eek! - and haven't noticed my tastes in games changing much. My favourties when I was a youngster were Lotus Turbo Esprit (or whatever it was called), Jet Set Willy, Lode Runner and, um, lots of others.

Now, Turbo Lotus Esprit (or whatever it was called) was basically GTA3 on the Spectrum. And I love GTA3. Jet Set Willy was a 2D platform game, which is a genre I still love up on my GBA and Lode Runner had a level designer which fulfilled the same needs as games like the mighty Rollercoaster Tycoon and the slightly less mighty Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis.

And today I've had most fun playing BloodRayne, Sonic Pinball Party and various amusingly hacked versions of Super Mario Bros. Eraserhead, The Crow, Star Wars, all that.
