Title: Teletext...

Deano - July 14, 2003 07:21 PM (GMT)
Firstly, finally a games mag worth reading again, but:
The teletext interface is lovely and quaint and nostalgic, or at least it will be for a few days, when I'll start getting a little tired of:

Read sub-page for about 30 seconds
Click
Wait 5-10 seconds for next sub-page
Repeat

You said one of your aims is speed - hence no fancy graphics, but as it is it takes much longer to read something here than on other gaming sites due to an article being split over 5 or 10 subpages.

Suggestions:
Entire article displayed with discreet but functional scrollbars on the inside of the screen
Do some funky technical pre-loading thing so that clicking the 'next subpage' button displays it instantly
Simple method: If a page has 7 subpages, give us the option to have seven TVs and remotes one after each other on the page so we can just hit Page Down on the keyboard instead - would be just like what digi could have been like if you were rich and had 7 tvs....

Meh - sorry first post is a whine and all but this is so close to perfect, but I just know this'll drive me mad by the end of the week.

You've made Mr Nash cry. I hope you're happy.

I concur with Mr Deano. Maybe as part of the special 50p package subscribers could get an e-mail digest or similar sort of "one-stop shop" containing all that week's writing?

As the site expands and more material is added, it's going to be a chore searching through your purchased back-issues for a single article or review. And because I love you all so much, I'll be wanting to do that regularly.

You, sir, would complain that Venice had water in it.

Don't be so silly, billy.

As it happens I did complain about it, and they told me that was how it was supposed to be. Very odd, the whole affair.

I'm willing to endure the lovely tele-o-text interface for Digi. It seperated it from the rest of the soul-less game sites out there...

It also has lots of bin bags apparently. I'd advice you to stay away from them, on the offchance that they are owned by Mr.T
