Title: CQ help please
Description: A few easy questions to help me

I have looked around and followed all the instructions so far. I still have a few issues I wonder if are normal. I have the Doom Legacy version 1.42 and took the chex.wad and named it doom.wad, the chex.wad was from the original CD when they came out, loved the game. Anyhow, is this the correct chex.wad to use?
I then added the cquestp2b2.wad and have the levels of Knee Deep in the Dead, The Shores of Hell and Inferno. They all seem to play fine as much as I have played them. So far I think everything is correct, if not please let me know.
When I start the game I get a message that “Demo is from an older game version.” Is this a normal message or do I need a more current file?
I have introduced this game to my kids and they love it and I would like to try and set up a match on my home LAN, is that possible? When I use my main system as the server I can see it from their computer when I connect to it, it seems to connect but if I try to enter it for a 2 player game I get a UDP_Bind: Unknown error. This says it is a doom Legacy error.
Last thing, when I try the 2 player game and get the split screen, do you switch the screens or something to play the lower one? I don’t normally have this much trouble with a computer so I am sure there is a simple fix. I am probably trying to get it to do something it is not designed for. I appreciate any help I can get. Any user manuals developed yet?

Those are the names of the DooM episodes. Is that exactly what the game's menu says, because Boingo renamed those.
BTW: This is a TUCQ issue, so it should go in the TUCQ forum. No worries, I'll move it now ^_^

Thank you for the reply. The three titles are the choices I have when I start the game. Sorry for posting in the wrong place.

Hey, I didn't get quick replies like that to my topic, lol....

I don't know how to set up a multiplayer game, I have tried it myself with TUCQ and the normal Chex Quest and the master server seems to be defunct, what's a new/good one?

Sorry didn't see this before....
Can help out with this, my bro and me play on LAN a lot.
LAN matches are quite possible. Simply go to the legacy launcher's multiplayer tab and:
first off, make sure chex.wad has been renamed doom.wad
On the host computer:
1.)Go to the server tab. For protocol, click TCP/IP.
2.)Set number of computers to two (unless you have more than two computers playing, then set amout necesary)
3.)Then set all your settings. Ya know, Do they want to play co-op or zorch-match (death-match)
4.)Where it says additional files, add Cquestp2b2.wad. Unfortunately, I think only E1M1-E1M4 are co-op friendly, and only E1M2 and E1M3 are zorch-match firendly. However if you wish to download one of my maps maps, they are compatible with everything. Xbolt made some fine maps, but I don't think they allow multiplayer, I didn't see any other player starts. (I wouldn't reccomend my oneyear wad file if you have really little kids, it has a somewhat scary nature.)
5.)Make a note of what th IP adress is. now go to the other computer...
On the client computer:
1.) Go to the multiplayer tab, but this time go to client.
2.)Here's the weird part. You can try to autodetect through LAN, but specifying IP is surefire. Type in the IP ( if you choose to do it this way) and if you have a router, put in :5029 at the end. This specifies you are connecting to a host. I have a router, so say my brother is hosting, I would go into client and type (made up ip) 232.109.44.203:5029 I think that'll getchya goin. Good Luck
;)

Wierd, it didn't move. I'll move it again ^_^
Anyway, it shouldn't give you DooM episode names. You should be getting custom episode names. Make certain that you added the TUCQ wad as a PWAD in the Single Mission menu. Make certain you have no other PWADs in use.
Also, if you own a copy of DooM, use that WAD rather than the Chex.wad. Though Boingo and a couple others here have tested Chex.wad in the place of DooM.wad, it's probably more stable to use DooM.
Other than that, check the FAQ on Boingo's website, the FAQ in the TUCQ subforum, or e-mail boingo.

Great, I will try the LAN setup. Thank you for the help. I will also check out all the FAQs and see what I can do to get the titles changed.
Used to be a closet Chex Quester but now rhat I know others are still playing it I guess I won't feel so alone, lol.
I have tried the other wads that have been made and they look great. Look forward to trying many more of them.
Thanks for all the help!
