Title: New Flemoids
since5 - May 4, 2005 11:29 PM (GMT)
Are the new flemoids going to be based on old doom monsters like the original flemoids or are they going to have their own properties with a dehacked file?
Uhm, just curious..... ^_^
I'm mostly a mapper. I'm terrible at script and dehacked stuff.
I think a Cyber-Demon based flemoid would be cool. (The guy that shoots rockets) B)

First of all, the cyberdemon monster appeared in Doom 2, it isn't programmed for Doom 1, so I doubt that the "cyberdemon" will make an appearance in the game.
Secondly, there would be a problem with having guys that shoot projectiles. Some of the monsters like the cyberdemon use the same weapon to shoot rockets, so it would look a little strange to see it shoot zorch energy at you.
Maybe it could be possible, but I haven't looked into it. What about it, Boingo?
Loremaster - May 5, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
It did appear in DooM1. Just in Episode 2 ^_^ So it will probably be made into the final boss.
Zorcher - May 5, 2005 07:33 AM (GMT)
I guess that tells you I never played Doom 1. ^_^

Uhm yes.....and in episode 3. :D
But I noticed the weapon image thing right after I posted this and you're right.
Howeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever............
The front of the "rcoket" in chex looks like a slime ball. Chances are, getting fired at by a monster, you're not going to see the other point of view you get when you shoot a "rocket" yourself.
So I think it can still be worked out.

The cyberdemon appear as the boss at the end of ep2 (E2M8). He also appears in the secret level for ep3 (E3M9) and in a few levels in ep4 (Ultimate DooM only).
Some new flemoids will be based on original DooM monsters, but since I am one of those people who enjoys hack editing, there will likely be several flemoids cobbled together via hack editing as well.

Bump.
Before lanceleader's avatar turned into a huge, red X, I managed to make an entire series of sprites based on it, taking the Chaingunner - Heavy Weapon Dude's position. I'll upload them as a WAD if anybody wants it.
Here are some samples:

I say: That looks pretty sweet. B)

Ordinarily I'd plant this topic 6 feet under and plink you with my magic "Warn" command, but this is a level of sweetness I've never seen in Necromancy before....
Might you start a new topic about this??? ^_^

Done! I've made a topic about CBA Studios and my ideas (like Flemoidus Gatlingus)
here.
Oh, and sorry about the bump :( . I was aware that this was a 2 year old topic, but this just seemed like the right place to post my work.
EDIT: All new information on this project posted by me will be in the new topic.

Hmmm ...
As I consider moving T.U.C.Q. over to GZDooM as its platform, I must point out that such a move would include a change of the sprites to a higher resolution.
Replica - May 29, 2007 04:51 AM (GMT)
so whats the difference between GZdoom and doom
Boingo the Clown - May 29, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
DooM is the original program, in various incarnations, released by id software.
GZDooM is a DooM source port like Legacy. GZDooM uses another source port, ZDooM, as its base, hence the name. Its main appeal, in my case at least, is the fact that it supports features of both ZDooM and Legacy, making it very versatile.

Wow, I'm glad you did that.
It looks a bit different than lanceleader's avatar, but you did a good job making a flemoid similar to it! I like it.
