Title: New Ammo?
Description: Something funny is going on here!

Boingo the Clown - August 4, 2004 02:01 PM (GMT)
Tired of the same old ammo lying around the Chex Quest levels?

Perhaps you might start seeing new types of ammo popping up every now and then!

Some Heretic ammunition may end up in the game. This is because these types of ammo can actually be picked up in DooM mode, and will affect the player's ammo, but with different amounts than the normal ammo:

Wand crystal = 10 bullets (mini zorch / rapid zorch) Same amount as used already.

Crystal geode = 50 bullets (mini zorch / rapid zorch) " " " " "

Wand crystal (if dropped by a monster) = 3 bullets.

Etherial arrows = 5 shotgun shells (large zorcher) 1 more than normal.

Arrow quiver = 20 shotgun shells (large zorcher) Same as shell box.

Lesser runes = 20 rockets (propulser zorch) 5x more than a rocket box!

Greater runes = 100 rockets! (propulser zorch) Will instantly give you maximum rockets!

Claw orb = 10 plasma cells (phase zorch / LAZ device) 1/2 the size of a normal plasma cell.

Energy orb = 25 plasma cells (phase zorch / LAZ) 5 more than a normal plasma cell. 1/4 amount of cell pack.

These items can be used with a different look, in the case of items with the same ammo value, which would be good for putting in different episode with a slightly different look, or they can be used simply as variations in the amount of ammo.

Cool!! I cant wait to find a 'Greater runes'! :D So this stuff is going to have new grafix that goes with it? Like a 'Greater runes', will that look like a huge pile of rockets? Thats gotta be funny to see! :D

On another question, whatever happened to the 'Super Shotgun' from doom? Can u make that into anoter zorcher outta that?

Boingo the Clown - August 4, 2004 02:24 PM (GMT)
The Super shotgun (actually, it is just a double barreled shotgun) is only available in DooM II.

NTG56 - August 4, 2004 02:27 PM (GMT)
i figured that if u could use all this stuff from Heretic you could use stuff from Doom II...guess something like that wouldnt work.

Flemoid_Slayer - August 4, 2004 02:45 PM (GMT)
sweet boingo! im lookin forward to it! :)
the ammo griafix from cq3 were new and not so bad...

Boingo the Clown - August 4, 2004 02:49 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I was figuring on using the sprites from CQ3 to replace the etherial arrows.

Since the arrows and quiver of arrows have almost the same ammo value, they may be used in the CQ3 levels, just as a courtesy to the unknown makers of CQ3.

Flemoid_Slayer - August 4, 2004 03:11 PM (GMT)
off topic- how could anybody not know who made cq3? it should be so obvious...

Boingo the Clown - August 4, 2004 04:03 PM (GMT)
I don't, and nobody ever told me.

Was it you by chance?

BTW: Heretic also has its own backpack, called the bag of holding. It works the same way as DooM's backpack, except that it adds 10 bullets, 5 shells, 20 rockets, and 10 plasma cells.

I may use this too.

ChexBoss32890 - August 4, 2004 04:05 PM (GMT)
I emailed somebody from the legacy team wondering if there was a way to turn on the super shotgun in u-doom. Im waiting for a responce.

Boingo the Clown - August 4, 2004 04:13 PM (GMT)
I presume it was just by telling the regular shotgun to use the SSG frames, and adding the appropriate sprites.

Flemoid_Slayer - August 4, 2004 04:16 PM (GMT)
yes, i confess, it was me, i made cq3 and wanted to see waht the cq community thought about it, so i joined theis forum and i didnt want to tell anyone about it, but now ive blown my cover :ph43r:

btw, is that backpack more or less than the doom/cq backpack?

ChexBoss32890 - August 4, 2004 04:45 PM (GMT)
But then that just use the regular shotgun. Why not both?

If not, legacy needs to add that, along with many other things.

Flemoid_Slayer - August 4, 2004 06:14 PM (GMT)
jk u guys, ididnt really make cq3 -_- sry 2 diapaoint u :(

Dragon Master - August 4, 2004 06:14 PM (GMT)

Well, since CQ3 has been brought up as a subjsct already, especially regarding the possibility of levels from it making it into T.U.C.Q., I think you know what everybody thinks now.

Regarding the Heretic backpack:

Bullets = the same as DooM

Shells = 1 more than DooM

Rockets = 4 x as many as DooM

Cells = 1/2 as many as DooM

It is just a way to vary what the player actually gets when picking up a backpack.

Why can't we convert the game to the Doom 2 engine?

Boingo the Clown - August 5, 2004 12:28 AM (GMT)
I like the episode format used by DooM.

The deed is done.

Picking up a mini zorcher will increase your mini zorch ammo by 50. I figured this was appropriate, because you start the game with a mini zorcher charged with 50 rounds. I got a mini zorcher graphic off of CQ Central, reduced it, and modified it until it looked right.

Nabbing a small phase zorch recharge, which looks like the regular phase zorch recharge, except that it is just a plain sphere without a carrying frame, will increase your phase zorch by 10 rounds.

Laying your fists on a medium phase zorch recharge will increase that lovely stash of phase zorch by 25 rounds.

All phase zorch recharges now animate.

Secondary versions of the large zorcher recharges using the sprites from CQ3 now exist as well.

In addition: I have managed to figure out how to replace the Heretic pick up messages, so when you pick up the mini zorcher, it says "Mini Zorcher", not "Crystal Geode".
