I just found this board while searching.
Anyway, I recently found out that by importing the chex.wad file into a shareware Doom folder and naming it Doom.wad, I was able to get the full version of Doom with Chex Quest sprites. Is there any way to play Chex Quest with the Doom sprites? I've attempted it, but when I run it, it starts to load, but it says Init Playloop state or something along the lines of that and it doesn't finish running. Do I need the full version of Doom in order for it to work?
Secondly, where can I find other versions of Chex Quest. I've played Chex Quest 1, 2, and 3, but aren't there any others?
Nope, sorry, you can't play CQ levels without DOOM sprites unless you go into the .wad and replace all teh dprites iwth DOOM ones. :(
And CQ 1+2+3 are the only ones on the doom engine. CQ Extended is just CQ w/ the doom levels.
CQ4, fighting, and return of the chex warrior were made on a program called game maker.
Improved versions of a bunch of CQ games are being currently developed.
It would be possible to play CQ with the DooM sprites, but, like Froghawk said, It would take HEAVY WAD file editing. Course, if you just wanted to play the CQ levels with CQ art and textures, but with DooM enemies, that would be easier. But it would still be some work.
