Ok. You want to just run the CQ games? Go get rid of that one you got off tucows [it's a rip, and they rip off a great program without giving credit where it's due] and get yourself extended edition from this very site. put all the .wad files in the folder, and run the program. it's self-explanitory from there. as for the .wad files........ A .wad file is just what it sounds like, a wad of files. sounds, music, levels, enemies, grafix, all go in a .wad file. And Of course you can't get TUCQ to work, bigfan. You probably don't have the doom wad file. you can use the file from the extended edition.
froghawk - September 3, 2003 11:47 PM (GMT)
There is one big error in the extended version... normally you have to fight the flembrane in order to get through to the survivors... in extended he moves around and you can just run in witout fighting him. Oh well, I didn't really make it, I just put it through 95. The original CQ makers actually made it.
Loremaster - September 4, 2003 12:22 AM (GMT)
true, true. The reason for that is because it's using a DooM.exe instead of the Chex.exe. That's why the commonus and bipedicus can shoot farther too.
Richie - September 4, 2003 03:02 AM (GMT)
Your not alone Big Fan. I'm 13 too. I like XP's speed and security but I hate the fact that DOS games don't work very well on it. Anyway, here's what you do to get Chex Quest 2 & 3 to work. You download the DOS versions of 2 & 3. Then you cut the .wad file. Open the folder with Chex Quest Extended Version in it. Paste the .wads there. Then click the launcher. You can choose which .wad you want. You can download CQ EV on my site.
chexfan2000 - September 4, 2003 03:57 PM (GMT)
i'm 14, and error messages make my head swim

You need to extract the files. There's a button in WinZip to do that, I think.
Loremaster - September 4, 2003 11:37 PM (GMT)
First off, I'm 15 and very comp literate, so age is nothing to do with it. It's willingness or opportunity [I'm betting you guys haven't had much opportunity, cause you all seem pretty bright(words of praise from me? There MUST be pods around!)]. Secondly, to run winzip....... well, you have xp? If so, then open the .zip file, then to the right, there is a menu. click on 'extract contents', or something like that, and follow the wizard. then, go to where you unzipped it [usually whereever the .zip file was, but in a folder called cqev], open it, double click on doom.exe, then click begin game. you can now play CQ1. To play CQ2 and CQ3, just put the chex2.wad and chex3.wad into the CQEV folder[the one with the program in it]. I'll put my messanger addy up in my profile, so we can talk. If i'm offline, give me a buzz on mail or here. [prefferable here, mails a little unstable]

What security? There is none!
And speed? That depends on ow good your comp is. I've seen XP with almost no speed. Painfully slow.
Richie - September 5, 2003 03:20 PM (GMT)
I agree with that, it depends on the computer.

froghawk - September 6, 2003 12:04 AM (GMT)
:D yay! he figured it out!

Boingo the Clown - September 6, 2003 01:02 AM (GMT)
Yes.
Tucows is just distributing the Scifience version.
big fan - September 7, 2003 06:18 PM (GMT)
Chex qyest 2 dosnt work tho. cq 3 and 1 do, but when i extracted the cq 2 zip, all it gave me was a setup. no wad file, and it said i had to have the original cq 1 to install. dose that mean the cq of the cd?

Ok i got cq 2 to work. ok. now is there any possible way that i could get tucq to work, i have the wad file and i teied that on cqev, but that didnt work. should i try to replace the wad file on the ordinary games?
Big Fan - September 7, 2003 09:07 PM (GMT)
And how do i become registured on here?

i do have the wad files, i think. When i go on my comp., and i go to the cqev folder, to play cqev, i see a file that says, DooM.wad. If that is what your talking about, how do i get tucq to work?
Loremaster - September 7, 2003 09:11 PM (GMT)
First off, to get TUCQ to work, you need either DooM 1.9 or Ultimate DooM wad file. It won't work with Extended Version. Then go get DooM Legacy, and set it up. As for being a registered member, look on the top of the forum [should be right above the board list on the main forum page.

To registure, Its Says i need an email address. i dont have one. Help.
Loremaster - September 7, 2003 10:46 PM (GMT)
for the registration, can't help you there. for the legacy, do you have DooM 1.9 [EV is 1.2, that's why it doesn't work] or Ultimate DooM? If not, go get the scifience version's wad, or better yet, go buy DooM [if not for the people who worked on doom, there would not be a CQ,]. Now, to set up DooM Legacy. First download it, and extract it. Next, put the DooM.wad file in, and the TUCQ wad into the legacy folder. now, double click on launcher.exe, and wait for the menu to load. Now click on game modes. [if this next bit is confusing, sorry. I'm not a very good teacher.] there will be 5 text boxes, with a single button after each one. on the top one, click that button, and select "legacy.exe". Now click ok. On those other 4 boxes, click the button on the first one. select doom.wad, and click ok. now click ok, and click on single map. under 'Mods' click the button next to the text box, and select Cquestphase1.wad [or whatever the file is] and click ok. then select your starting map, and click ok. now the game begins.

Loremaster - September 8, 2003 11:55 PM (GMT)
