Title: WoW...just WoW.

rushnerd - September 16, 2007 07:58 PM (GMT)
Okay guys, this is it. I am taking a major step here that, believe it or not it, is fairly new to me.

...I am joining World of Warcraft.

With everyones preconceptions set aside (please!) I just wondered if anyone had any experience with it around here. I don't believe so, but I have to check.
WHY do I choose WoW? It wouldn't be my first choice at all, but lets face it:
Huge crowd
low-minimum spec
LEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY JENKINNNNNNS!!!

Wish me luck.

Loremaster - September 16, 2007 08:37 PM (GMT)
*eye roll* That game eats you alive. Seen it happen firsthand. But have fun playing ^_^

rushnerd - September 16, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
Trust me lore, I more then know what can (and will) happen with these games. But, I don't really have a problem with it, I WANT to be consumed whole by virtual reality right now.

Besides, my hour count on Oblivion is about 330 anyway, whats the diff? :P

brain candy - September 16, 2007 09:04 PM (GMT)
I played WoW from January until around May of this year. My main was a 41 Troll Shaman.... she was real spiffy, but WoW got old for me and I didn't want to keep paying 15 a month. I was never entirely consumed by it, but I sure did want to play it when I wasn't doing anything else. My boyfriend on the other hand, had a 70 Undead Warlock as his main and had been playing since the beta. He and his brother at points in their life were hopelessly addicted. Be careful!

Are you going to play Horde or Alliance?

I say, for the horde!

Dude, have you ever listened to Buckethead and Bootsy Collins's "Virtual Reality" pt 1 & 2? They're funkin hilarious. Get it, funkin'?!

Anyway, good luck.

I LOVE OBLIVION! I even have a map of the province of Cyrodiil on my wall.

Manny Cav - September 17, 2007 01:17 AM (GMT)
A paid monthly subscription does not suit well with me. I just as well get something like Mario Party out if I want to play multiplayer, or even some other online multiplayer game (Chex Quest comes to mind, which reminds me, I've still got to LAN test Zorchmatch :P ) that doesn't require a monthly subscription or whatever.

rushnerd - September 17, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
@Richie: RIGHT ON! Although I have a map of Cyrodiil AND Morrowind on my wall. If I was a bigger geek, I might have Daggerfall too. WoW is cool, but The Elder Scrolls IV was the best game I have ever played.

@Lucius: Ha, you have awesome taste in music. I think I have heard that one, or at least very similar ones by them two. YABA DABA DOOZA!

**Frost Bolts you**

What class are you? Druid..? Rogue?

xbolt - September 17, 2007 05:14 AM (GMT)
I got the Game of the Year edition of Morrowind. It didn't come with the cool map. :(

I keep my Cyrodiil map safely inside the Oblivion box, along with the Pocket Guide to the Empire, and my Imperial Septim coin.

And on the subject of RPGs, I recently read a very interesting short story entitled "Non-Player Character".

rushnerd - September 17, 2007 07:13 AM (GMT)
Well I got my Morrowind GOTY for Xbox, and it sure enough came with a map!
I played that game for 45 days straight, seriously. I think I ended it at Level 116

@Brain: Rogue of course! I always play the good guys anyway. Some guy just tonight gave me a gold piece, score!

@Quarkz: you just became my sig.

Kuwabara - September 17, 2007 01:31 PM (GMT)
The only MMORPG I do is Maple Story. That is really fun and currently I am a level 15 warrior trying to become a page. (name: Kuwahara, Kuwabara was taken.)

Glassyman - September 17, 2007 01:31 PM (GMT)
Don't make me laugh! Play serious games such as Wolfenstein : Enemy territory.

Allen Walker - September 17, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)
I used to be a avid follower of Street Fighter Online, but then I came to the conclusion that all the updates we users beg for(such as more fighters, less bugs) are never going to come. Sometimes I'll pop in though.(YokoX and yes, I know the name is odd, I joined when I was 12)

Spfff, the Alliance may have been "good" at one point, but they aren't any more noble than the Horde at this point. Plus the Alliance are no good anti-enviroment, pro-forestation... jerk-wads! Hmmph. Poor trees.

Are you on a PVP server? I was on Lethon, a PVP server... I might just have to come find you and kick your Alliance butt. I hate Night Elves. ^_^

For the Horde!

rushnerd - September 18, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
I will protect the great trees of Darnassus as long as Night elf blood RUNS IN MY VEINS!!

Also i'm on an RP server, I REALLY want to get lost in this universe.

brain candy - September 18, 2007 03:05 AM (GMT)
I've always wanted to give RPing a try! I was kind of disappointed in how disconnected the PVP players were from storyline. I started an RP character but realized real quick that I did not want to level all over again.

I think I'm going to have to cite you for blatant disregard of your fellow forum posters safety with your choice in avatar and signature... tsk tsk. ^_^

I want to see your character specs so far! You can go to The Armory and search for character names to see their specific items and specs. Whats your characters name? Mine is "Pitsel," the level 40 Troll Shaman.

I really want to play WoW now... but I refuse.

rushnerd - September 21, 2007 07:45 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the link, thats a useful site!

How much is WoW per month? It looks interesting.

brain candy - September 24, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
It's about 15 bucks a month, I think. That's one of the main reasons I quit actually... I shouldn't be spending that much a month on a game when I need to be saving. It is an insanely interesting and entertaining game... very expansive and intricate.

Here was my shammy at level 20, wearing her guild tabbard.
Pitsel

Lucius Octavion - September 24, 2007 10:35 PM (GMT)
Man rushnerd I liked your old sig better! :P

rushnerd - September 25, 2007 01:15 AM (GMT)
While I hardly make much money, 15$ per month seems a bit trivial to the fact of how immensely interesting and expansive the Warcraft universe is. Besides, UNLIKE Brian Candy, I have no one, so wow is my best friend.
Though it's started to get very annoying how many people are lvl70, it's like I don't count for anything; so I try to remain ignorant on that part.

And the sig stays! Well for now...unless I can think of something else that would get a rise out of you guys. The Trollz girls one didn't work....

pikazec2012 - September 25, 2007 01:19 AM (GMT)
what is world of warcraft

Quarkz - September 25, 2007 01:53 AM (GMT)
*desperately tries to avoid topic*

i will say this- i wont allow myself to play mmo's ever since i got over my runescape addiction

If you're a cheapskate like me, there's free alternatives. SilkRoad Online just released their European expansion, and Rappelz is supposed to be good. I'm looking forward to Earth Eternal [Me luvz playing as Teh Fuchs... er... Fox]

rushnerd - September 25, 2007 03:39 PM (GMT)
I think the only real alt. is Guild Wars wich I WAS going to do, but decided to go with WoW. You get what you pay for! .....And that's down time this morning :( I COULDN'T PLAY FOR THE 20min BEFORE I WENT TO WORK!!!

I just bought WOW with the enthusiasm on this topic... You've convinced me to try it... and I will once I get my computer back... I will post my character name here along with a picture... I would like to add you all to my friends list... (to all) What servers names do you have for characters? Which one is the best? I don't want PVP but I may do that later... I am going to have a Human Paladin... and a second character on a different server. Maybe a Night Elf Druid...

I get one month free and then I will buy a card for playing online...

brain candy - September 25, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
I do agree that 15 bucks is nothing for how endlessly expansive WoW is. No other MMO I've played compares to the game play in this game... it's so intricate, the storyline is awesome, and the PVP system is a ton of fun. All of the free MMO's I have played to try and find a replacement have all fallen really short.

Dvader, all my mains are on the Lethon (PVP) server, I have one RP character but I do not remember what server she was on. I'm currently inactive, plus I play Horde so we couldn't hang out... just kick some alliance butt. For the Horde!

Buuuut. My boyfriend's account is now active again... he's letting a friend of ours play on it. The friend payed for 60 days but never uses it anymore. Maybe I could come level with you guys. Ha ha.

(Poor Poland.)

Manny Cav - September 25, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
There's no way I'm going to throw away $15 a month for a MMO like World of Warcraft. I've got too many other good games, some of the multiplayer, to be wastin' money like that.

brain candy - September 25, 2007 11:13 PM (GMT)
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. 15 bucks was never an issue for me, luckily. That's nothing compared to my house payment. <_<

I want to play WoW now. It's an addiction, I swear.

I want to play WoW now. It's an addiction, I swear.

Which is why I stay away from it. I had trouble enough with Medal of Honour: Allied Assault!

Sitting for 8 hours at a time, just to get the thrill of that headshot kill on the best players in the game....

Thankfully with how common that thrill was, I eventually tired of it.

Silkroad is my poison of choice now, and thankfully it is easy to put down when I want to, but still addicting enough for me to want to pick it back up later.

Lucius Octavion - September 26, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
I got addicted to The Ultimate Chex Quest once.

LOL

But none of you guys have obviously played any of The Elder Scrolls series. Those are as bad, if not worse then WoW. Much of my life as gone to them.

Way to go Dvader!!! I feel great that I sparked someone elses interest! a pally is a great choice.
Don't listin to Brain Candy, the horde have brain(candy'd)washed her. Join The RP server
Blackwater Raiders (mine).
It's got a good balance of people, most of them are very nice and it being on of the few RP severs you can expect serious gamers (or at LEAST a lot less idiots/jerks/lamers).

Also @Manny: Untill you play Grim Fandango, you opinon on this subject is dully noted. Besides, some people think were throwing away our (or our parents) money by paying for the internet!

Allen Walker - September 26, 2007 02:09 PM (GMT)
No, I have Morrowwind. I am Chaperone--the countless outlaw that everyone wants dead! You guys already heard about SFO, so I'll just add in that I used to be a level 17 warror on Runescape years ago.
