Description: Share your secrets

Flembrane - August 6, 2003 11:00 PM (GMT)
Here is the topic to tell all the secrets areas or secrets you know about the CQ Games.

Here is one,
Easy Win on the First Level of CQ2
On the beginning of the first level of CQ2, kill of the flemoids and go straight untill you hit the wall in front of you then try to go through it, soon you will go through. Kill the flemoids and soon you'll find a red key, then jump off and go through the red door and soon you will find a switch. Press it and win the level :)

HINT: Watch for a flemoid to come out of the wall in the begginning

Flembrane - August 7, 2003 01:24 AM (GMT)
Cheats (using extended version or ultimate chex quest)

God Mode: IDDQD

Boingo the Clown - August 7, 2003 03:07 PM (GMT)
Those won't work by the time I am finished Ultimate Chex Quest Phase II. :P

hehehehehe.

Flembrane - August 7, 2003 09:34 PM (GMT)
When will you be done, I really want to see those new flemoids :)

Boingo the Clown - August 8, 2003 01:43 PM (GMT)
Here's a sketch of one I have planned.

I think hornet might be a better name for flyer :) :)

chexfan2000 - August 8, 2003 09:50 PM (GMT)
Sorry, I didn't mean to put in two smilies

Dacicus - August 14, 2003 10:22 PM (GMT)
I don't know how secret these things are, but I'll tell them anyway:
1. In the Laboratory (CQ1), there's a flemoid wandering around outside the walls.
2. There are two map chips in the Laboratory. If you touch the second one after getting the first one, you get hurt.

Loremaster - August 14, 2003 11:17 PM (GMT)
So THAT'S where that last little bugger was! Been lookin for him for 7 YEARS!

Dacicus - August 15, 2003 04:02 PM (GMT)
I found him by using the "sherrill" cheat.

Loremaster - August 15, 2003 04:38 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the tip! :D

Dacicus - August 15, 2003 06:03 PM (GMT)
If you want to zorch it, you'll probably need to use the "charlesjacobi" cheat. I don't think the zorchers can shoot through all the walls.

Loremaster - August 15, 2003 07:15 PM (GMT)
Thanks! I'll give that a try!

Boingo the Clown - August 15, 2003 11:35 PM (GMT)
Nope. Weapons do not shoot throught walls.

Dacicus - August 16, 2003 12:12 AM (GMT)
Are you sure? Because I think I've found a place where they do. It's by the room with the yellow key in the Laboratory. There's a room with two flemoids (flemoidus bipedicus). You can shoot through the center wall of that room. It's easiest to notice when you come from the opposite direction. You shoot through the wall and zorch the flemoids. It works with the large zorcher (number 3).

Loremaster - August 16, 2003 04:52 AM (GMT)
Yea, that was always odd. It's like that even in TUCQ. I kinda like it, but it also allows for the Flemoids to shoot back! Oh well, no good thing ever comes without a price. :P

Boingo the Clown - August 16, 2003 05:54 AM (GMT)
That's different. You are talking about a two side lindef with a texture on it. Players and monsters can alway shoot through a two sided linedef. Unfortunately, although people can't see through these lines, because of the textures, monsters can see through them just fine, which can be a real pain in the a...neck.

I once used that trick to excellent effect to create a gauntlet room, though I never released that level. I put a number of DooM sergeants (bipedus flemoids) up on ledges behind textures. This made it almost impossible for the player to shoot back, while stuck in a murderous crossfire. Shooting around randomly at the walls would be highly unlikely to pick off the sergeants before before the sergeants had filled the player full of holes.

Dacicus - August 16, 2003 06:03 AM (GMT)
Wouldn't the LAZ Device work in such a situation?

Loremaster - August 16, 2003 06:06 AM (GMT)
Yea, but at the cost of 20 ammunition, and depending on the spaceing of the Sergeants, it might be too much a cost, if it only caught one or two. Better to use the Zorch Propulsor. Less cost, and still affects an area.

Dacicus - August 16, 2003 06:18 AM (GMT)
I think it uses 60 ammo.

Loremaster - August 16, 2003 06:25 AM (GMT)
We both were wrong! :D It uses 40 ammo!

Dacicus - August 16, 2003 06:27 AM (GMT)
You're right. I just checked.

The Zorch Propulsor might not work if the enemies are too high up, though.

Loremaster - August 16, 2003 06:30 AM (GMT)
Point, point. But if you're using Legacy, then you could look up.

Dacicus - August 16, 2003 06:33 AM (GMT)
Oh, I've never played this Legacy thing. What is it?

Loremaster - August 16, 2003 06:39 AM (GMT)
It's the DooM port that The Ultimate Chex Quest uses. It's free, but you need the DooM IWAD or the SciFience IWAD to use it. The scifience WAD is on www.scifiencestudios.net . Download that, then TUCQ at Boingo's site, and Legacy, do a little set-up, and BING! A new, better Chex Quest. It's gonna get better, the WAD Boingo has is only Stage one of four planned. CAN'T WAIT!

Dacicus - August 16, 2003 06:42 AM (GMT)
Are there any other new features besides looking up?

Loremaster - August 16, 2003 06:46 AM (GMT)
Well, the graphix are fixed up, Chex Quest 1 and 2 are in as episodes one and two, some minor beautification. Stage two will see much more beautification, addition of new flemoids, and such. It's stage three I'm lookin forward to. 26 NEW levels! Unless he uses CQ3, in which case it's 21 new levels. But STILL! NEW LEVELS! Check out Boingo's website for more details!. [you can find it in this forum]

Flembrane - August 19, 2003 07:57 PM (GMT)
| Get LAZ Device on Level 2 of CQ1 Without Using Cheats |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

You wil notice that there are two yellow doors, take the one on the right. Once teleported, go in the refrigerated room. Kill off the flemoids, then look at the two big boxes near the elevator, go on the elevator near the boxes, when it goes up run when you see the top of the big box, make sure u run toward the top if you make it press tab to see an opening, go through it and you found the LAZ Device!! :D

HINT: Press and hold shift to run

Boingo the Clown - August 19, 2003 11:37 PM (GMT)
It's easier than that to get into the room with the LAZ device and the pics of the Digital Cafe members.

If you go to the back of the main large room (the one you start in) you will find a small room to the right of the lift (Do not go into the lift. The room is off the large main room.). In the back left hand corner of this small room is an unmarked teleporter that will teleport you directly into the room with the LAZ device.

Loremaster - August 19, 2003 11:41 PM (GMT)
Originally, you were supposed to start in that little room, and there was no teleporter. At least, not in the DOS version that came with the cereal.

Loremaster - August 19, 2003 11:41 PM (GMT)
Just FYI

Boingo the Clown - August 20, 2003 12:32 AM (GMT)
I started with the Scifience version, so it is possible the level had been tampered with.

Loremaster - August 20, 2003 12:34 AM (GMT)
Yea. I did edit your wad, made all the original CQ and CQ2 levels playable in DeathMatch and Co-Op, and fixed the starting point in the E2M1. Did NOT delete the transport. It seems to only work sometimes. It's kinda nice actually. If you want, i'll post it here. [or E-Mail it to you. Does NOT have the level I'm working on either].

You can look up?!? :o :o :o How

Loremaster - August 20, 2003 11:38 PM (GMT)
Lemme see.................... In the unmodified control layout, it is page up, and page down. Or was it insert and delete??? Try 'em!

chexfan2000 - August 23, 2003 11:33 PM (GMT)
Page up is look up, Page down is look down, end is center. Just FYI :D

Loremaster - August 24, 2003 12:13 AM (GMT)
Thank you, Chexfan.

Loremaster - August 24, 2003 11:40 PM (GMT)
[CD version only] Get the LAZ device in the Caverns of Bazoik.

When you enter the Flembrane's room, follow the slime river in the middle to the slimefalls on one of the walls. Go through it, zorch the BWAs in there, and whola! A fresh, ready to use LAZ device!

[Note: In TUCQ, the LAZ Device has been replaced with Chex® Mega Armor.]
