this is a fort around the flemoid casle

Loremaster - May 23, 2007 04:53 AM (GMT)
Give the wood some sort of grain...

.... *looks around*.... So I'm a mountain boy who comes from the forest. I KNOW wood.

Also, wood ain't orange, more of a very light brown or tan.

Other than that, I love the textures. The fort on especially. Two big thumbs up there!

Replica - May 23, 2007 05:02 AM (GMT)
the wood has a coat of somesort, you know the things they put on decks to make them rain resistent, and orange i'll post others

About the fort wall, don't use it for long linedefs, the green spats will repeat, making it look bad.

BTW, I don't like the menu background. Here, I'll make one pretty fast... or I'll try.

Replica - May 23, 2007 09:11 PM (GMT)
ok. what i was going to do is ad a layer of fungi in front of it to make it well fungish

Mob720 - May 23, 2007 09:52 PM (GMT)
Ok, here it is. I accidently used the wrong size, so You might wanna just cut the pic and scale it down.

Your link fails at life. Please repair it.

Other than that, these textures are progressing very nicely. I especially enjoy the stone path and the current work done on that fern.

Keep it up! :D

the forest in e1m4, i think

Mob720 - May 31, 2007 03:41 AM (GMT)
Remember, the flat will repeat, so don't put so much stuff on one and it will be ugly.

Replica - May 31, 2007 03:46 AM (GMT)
thats it for the flat. so you like them?

Loremaster - May 31, 2007 06:13 AM (GMT)
The pebbles need more detail. It looks almost like you are walking on chocolate frosting with vanilla sprinkles. Some simple shading should take care of this problem.

Mob720 - May 31, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
Maybe you should make the forest floor 128 by 128. It's bigger, it works, and it won't make that flat repeat so much.

I agree with loremaster, too.

Replica - May 31, 2007 07:55 PM (GMT)
The dirt floor will be in a darker sector ^_^
i thought it would be less knotice able

Lucius Octavion - June 1, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
The textures have really good ideas behind them, but the detail and shading should be better. Right now they look even too "cartoonish" for CQ. CQ should have doom like graphics.

Maybe it would help if you used a more advanced image editor, so you can shade, at grain, add noise, etc.

Replica - June 1, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
yes, i was thinking the shading was off, and what do you mean cartoonish?

Lucius Octavion - June 2, 2007 08:51 PM (GMT)
No, that's not exactly what I mean. Take a look at a brown tree from doom and you will see what I mean.

Replica - June 2, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
i don't have doom, and i think i'm horible at texture making, but some of you guys said not so i guess, this is why i asked when boingo has more time in a few months if he could spend a few hours, and help me hack, but he seems to ignore me...
so i need a hacker now :(

here is a flemoid.....

i know what your thinking what the heck!???! its red!!!!!

ya i'll explain that later, as in a mesage will pop up, this must be were they keep the ************* flemiod ;)

just tell me what you think, and the only people who know what he is, is Boingo and me so no bugging -_-

Lucius Octavion - June 3, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
He doesn't look like a flemoid at all though.

If you want to work with sprites, you have to do it pixel by pixel. You really have to know what you are doing. I have tried and it is really really hard.

Replica - June 3, 2007 02:31 AM (GMT)
And a very long prossess...
any way, i might as well say that he is a mutated flemoid.
he has his own map in E4.

And that's why I only add on to sprites done already. B)

Lucius Octavion - June 3, 2007 02:50 AM (GMT)
That is a good statement there, mob. That is, in fact what many, many good sprite makers do. They take pieces of already done textures, graphics, and sprites, and do what they need to make anything they want.

You can make plants, trees, lights, soldiers, fountains, and anything you can imagine.

If you look at most good wads with new graphics, you can see common things in the sprites and graphics. Of course, if there is a completely new sprite not from doom or something, then they are just a talented worker! Most things are modifications from retail games though, which is not really a bad thing at all.

Or... you can go crazy like Boingo does and buy real guns and stuff to make sprites! :D

Mob720 - June 3, 2007 02:51 AM (GMT)
Hehe, like this
<-- He's going to be the boss in E2M7 (Or E2M5 if you want to call it that.)

I'm pretty decent at editing sprites; I'm terrible at creating them out of thin air.

Ah, yes. "Pre-rendered sprites." Something I'm well familiar with.

Mob720 - June 3, 2007 02:54 AM (GMT)
BROTHER!!! Well, at least in the talent, "NOT ABLE TO CREATE SPRITES OUT OF THIN AIR WITHOUT EDITING ANOTHER ONE."

Replica, your lopsided tree will look very akward in-game. ;)

Either Photobucket has tossed it's cookies all over it [after having drank copicious amounts of Romulan Ale], or it is merely a blue square....

Replica - June 4, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
Not just a blue square!!! It my friend looks like DIGATAL CAFE did it.

Ya its a blue square ^_^

Lucius Octavion - June 4, 2007 03:39 AM (GMT)
