I'm the first to admit that I know nothing about car audio. Today i went into A&B sound looking for a lcd/dvd head unit. Looked at a panasonic model, alpine, and clarion. I was pretty impressed by the clarion unit as it is an all-in-one unit. they go for around 2600 so it's a big chunk of paper.

Can anyone tell me what i should look for in these units?

when u go look at them be sure to look at them from all angles to see how dark it gets at certain angles.... it would suck to have to sit in the back to to get the best picture.... besides that i dunno... if i were u i would look for a clearence item... i asked visions once if they had any of last years models and they said they could do it for around 1500 and the unit didnt look too bad.. just didnt have the money

LCD units are awesome. I got interested in them after a guy in a silver 5th gen prelude chased me down at the St. Vital mall parking lot last year asking if i wanted to buy his system. His system was a clarion system, but it was the two piece system with the screen a separate section from the DVD/CD player etc. It was a sweet system and it cost him 4 grand, which i later verified with the guys at A&B sound. They then showed me the clarion all in one unit which i much prefered. They told me they would do it for $1900-2000. Oh yeah, and that guy that chased me down, he was offering his setup for $2400. LCD's are awesome, but its just a hell of alot of money that i really don't have. Go either Clarion or Panisonic if you decide to get one. I have never heard that many good things about Alpine.

yea, they had it tagged at 2599 for the clarion unit but i'll just go in there and slap down some cash...see what they do.

ALPINE ROCKS TO WHOMEVER SAYS THAT THEY HAVEN'T HEARD VERY MANY GOOD THINGS ABOUT THEM....
