Title: Concert Experiences
Description: Talk about them here...

Ah_M - January 20, 2003 12:13 PM (GMT)
Date: Late November 1996 (can't remember exactly and lost the ticket :()
Venue: Docklands Arena, London UK

As you may or may not know, my interest in Leon took a major increase after his Perhaps album so you can guess my excitement when hearing that he would be in the same country as me :D Before taking the train to London, don't know what was wrong with me but I vomitted twice and needed the toilet so many times before even stepping outside the house (then went to the toilet about 7 times during the show - missed so much :(). Anyway, my two sisters and I got to the arena and surprisingly security didn't search our bags (Mistake No. 1 - Not bringing a zoom camera). On our seats were really nice programs with loads of various photos, Leon's achievements, interview, etc. We were on the 7th row but right at the end (neck hurt so much the following day). I took in a voice-recorder with me but unfortunately it failed to work after the second song (but guess what - got it working again after concert finished <_< ) (Mistake No. 2 - not learning how to operate voice recorder properly, I remeber crying so many nights over this *blushes*). Don't remember how full the place was since my attention was completely on Leon but I'd say it was pretty decent for somewhere as remote as UK and how every British Chinese seems to only like Jacky Cheung.

Memories from this night are a little vague so I'll just list the stuff I have managed to remember:
Some songs he sang: If This Is Love, Hope You Won't Leave Tonight, Give You A Piece Of Snowflake, Will You Come Home Tonight (during the mandarin chorus bit, he held the microphone out to audience for us to sing and when we sang '.....LAI', he shouted 'LAI!' back to us - so sweet! :D) Deep Feelings Not Yet Expressed <= WOOHOO! So good!
He talked A LOT during the show - some people thought too much and seemed like most reoccuring complaint. But I tell them, you should be grateful because he hardly ever talks in HK concerts! It was mostly about his school-days in London and we got to see his funny side. There was a long Q&A session. A girl shouted to Leon 'WHAT WAS YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT?! and he replies 'PARDON?!' (Heehee, guess he didn't understand) so the girl repeats it in Chinese and Leon says it was when he was taken outside of the school building and caned (or something similar). A guy asked, 'Are you gay?' and practically everyone was shocked that he asked this but Leon being quick-thinking and cool about the question replied by asking 'Well, are you gay?' (Guy replies No) 'How can I believe you though, so even if I said No, you can't fully believe me can you so why ask this question? - silly!' and walks off in the other direction for the next question  - whole audience laughs (ARGH! Gotta love this guy!) Someone else asked about his first kiss - something about his neck getting cramp as his head was at an angle and ready to kiss the girl...forgotten it now. Then some other questions like, When are you gonna invite us to your wedding banquet, do you have a girlfriend, etc. ... can't remember his replies unfortunately.
Biggest surprise was all his swearing! His old school's headmaster wrote a letter to Leon saying 'Dear Mr Lai, We know you are a very popular artist in Hong Kong right now.....Please can you donate some money to our school?....' And Leon replies by saying f*** off! They caned me so much and now asking me for money?! I don't know how believeable this is, not like Leon at all...but I have heard that one of the schools he attended has been demolished! :D Then there was a story about schoolmates offering him drugs and he just told them to f*** off! Then another that involved him saying s*** many times  There was a little boy in front of me and his mother had to cover his ears during all this (don't think she was too impressed!) Another story where Leon saw all his white schoolmates going to the kitchen lady and getting second helpings of dinner but then Leon goes up and says 'Excuse me, may I have some more?' and the lady goes 'Wait...', kinda got him upset  Even the arena staff (non-chinese obviously) had great big smiles on their faces (Leon really know how to tum say yun ah! :D)
He played the guitar - WOW, absolutely brilliant! Received lots of applause from audience and everyone clapped along while he played...there was Forgive Me, Last Love, Tomorrow I Want to Marry You and a few others - so romantic! After this he was talking for a bit while these two girls in front of me kept shouting 'LEON!' so he turned around to them and says 'Yes, what is it?!' in his little joking-annoyed-funny-cute-way! This caused them to sit back down and cover their faces  then they got back up again just as Leon turns away and shout 'WHICH HOTEL ARE YOU STAYING AT?!' :D

Final conclusion:
His voice sounds so much better than on CDs! He gets the right tone/mood and makes his vocals absolutetly mind-blowing!
He's soooooo much more good-looking in real-life (I didn't think that was possible) and really TALL! Maybe because I've been surrounded by short people all my life but seeing Leon's height just made me go :o as well as his figure - AHHHH! *faint* Even overheard these two old ladies saying he's got a good figure!
He's such a funny guy! Oh, the number of times I laughed out load...

Biggest disappointment was that he didn't come down to shake hands - got me so excited when he said he had a special present to give to us but instead, he threw out some frisbee-type things...never went in our direction though :(

I now await his return to our beautiful land or better still, go see him in HK this year - YEAH! :D

P.S. Sorry for any over-enthusiam shown in this report, didn't realise I remembered so much! :D

quadshock - January 20, 2003 07:18 PM (GMT)
He swore in one of his concerts? he's supposed to be an idol for people of all ages :P I just can't imagine him saying **** and **** and definately not ******* *******. I always thought he does charity a lot though, so the school donation thing was unexpected. I've never seen his concerts before, but i heard that his singing in live performances has been really bad up until recently. Is this true?

Ah_M - January 21, 2003 10:52 AM (GMT)
Er, where'd you hear that from and how recent is 'recently'? I recently bought his '92 HK concert and was pretty amazed to hear that this vocals were already quite good.

Swearing is not really a big deal, he's done it in his movies and he probably does swear a lot in real-life, but obviously not in public.
As I said, the donation thing sounds weird but it was probably way before he started doing charity and it's kinda obvious that he planned what he wanted to say because there was so much content (or he must've hated that school a lot).

Mrs Lai - January 21, 2003 01:46 PM (GMT)
Ok, I've been to 2 Leon concerts... one in 1995 (May 1st) and 1998 (Oct 4th)... I remember the dates... hehe... still got the tickets kept in a real safe place... hehe... :D

Ehhh, don't remember much, but since Baba wrote a review that was all over the place, I think I can do the same... :P

1995... can't remember much... I was still little.

1998 concert... so good man... Ok, first he started off with 100 Possibilities... so cool, cos he wore this suit with all this shiney silver piece things on it, and with the red light... WOAH... and nice short hair (not spiked tho  ), and those cool sunnies... wah!!!

Oh, something I forgot to mention... when he came we had this stupid gas crisis thing, I don't even know what happened... something blew up or something, and basically we had to have cold showers, unless you has an electric shower... something like that. And there was this rumour going around, saying Leon wasn't coming, cos it wasn't really convenient with no hot water. And I was so worried...! Couldn't sleep for nights, and I kept discussing it with my mum, trying to tell myself that he will come. Lucky, when he came it was on our newspapers and all, wah, I was so HIGH... jumped around and all... and also found out that he dyes his hair brown...

Anyway, I think that's probably why he didn't spike his hair... haha... yeh, cos he didn't take a shower... well, anyway, instead of this gas thing being a bad thing, it actually turned out pretty good, cos everyone, including Leon kept joking about the water and electric showers and all... Any fan who got near the mic invited Leon to their homes for a shower... so cute...

And ehhh... I can't be bothered typing up song list... but some highlights:
After hand-shake time, he got back on stage and he shaked his hands and then looked at it saying, "Someone's got a drop of my blood"... hehe, he's so cute... but poor Leon... :( If I find out who scratched my Leon...
Oh, and also during hand-shake time... I chased him around the whole stadium just about... hehe... I didn't get to see him close-up, but he was 2 security guards away from me... except I was facing his back... but anyway... his back is very cute... hehe! Oh, and before he came down, he took of his jacket, and the whole crowd went crazy... hehe. And so when I was behind him, my arm was kinda swinging everywhere trying to reach him... and I touched his shoulder... haha... that's like the biggest acheivement of my life... hehe... oh, and it was the left shoulder... and skin as well... cos remember he took off his jacket... :D

Oh, and his singing was so amazing... all live... even sang track 2 from I Love You So Much... wah... the english part at the start was so perfect...

Oh, and the dance to Track 3 of I Love You So Much is so cute... and Leon actually danced to some parts... wah... so cool... B)

Oh, and he sang remix version of I Love You OK? He didn't dance to this song much... but he was so cool when he was singing this song... I dunno... just something about it...!

Oh, and DNA Gone Wrong as well... I remember that part was just after Shu Kei's part... cos the camera went spastic, and I had to bring it to my Uncle to fix up... he was sitting in cheap area... hehe... very far away, so I went up there during SK's part... and then I heard the start to this music... wah... ran the fastest ever to get back to my seat... hehe... of course after the camera was confirmed DEAD... man, I wonder why that happens. Maybe it's fate, Leon meant to be remembered in our hearts and minds... and not machines...! ... that sounds funny...

Oh, and he was wearing this half see-thru top thing... could see his nipples... hehe... and his nice body... wah... this was like a couple months after he took that 6pac photo from I Love You So Much album... hehe...

Yeh, and it was so annoying... the ppl sitting next to me kept blocking their ears when I screamed and whistled... man, made me feel so awkward... dunno why they went!!! And they even moved away from me when I was waving my glowsticks... like I was gonna blind them or something...! <_<

And after that cool night... like best ever night for me... I went to the city the next day to buy photos... hehe...

Oh, and after the concert, on the way walking out to the car park... I actually heard complaints about the concert... yes, it was such a great night... and these ppl actually had something to complain about... "Concert was too short!"... Man, it was like 2 hrs 5 mins... I think it's cos it was so good it felt really fast... I kind of felt it was too short... but he can sing for a whole 24 hrs and I'd still be asking for more (maybe not, I think I would give him a rest)... Anyway, the newspapers the next day made the concert sound like THE BEST CONCERT EVER... but no excitement there... they do that to every concert...

Anyway, I'm just about done... why's it so quite in here??? Come on ppls... SHARE & DISCUSS!!!

Thanks for reading my great report... hehe... B)

quadshock - January 21, 2003 11:44 PM (GMT)
it seems like all the cameras have problems during the concert? If that's done deliberately that's pretty awesome

About the off key thing...I saw videos of his 1998/1997/? concert (the one where he performs "sour" and has that cg with the ball exploding), and i realized that he didn't sing much of the song perfectly, but got a lot of praise on his singing in the 2001 Live is Live concert. Well it's probably my bad. Of course he does well in recordings, i was wondering about live performances.

Jen - January 22, 2003 12:56 AM (GMT)
i would talk about my experience, but it would take a few people to push my buttons. i'm in no mood. *sigh* <_<

Mrs Lai - January 23, 2003 06:44 AM (GMT)
Why no mood ah?? What's wrong? I'll push the button... where is it?

Ah_M - January 23, 2003 10:47 AM (GMT)
*Baba takes a step back and looks at buttons confusingly*
Which button?

Jen - January 23, 2003 11:37 AM (GMT)
;) *sigh*

quadshock - January 24, 2003 12:48 AM (GMT)

qtbb - March 26, 2003 10:33 PM (GMT)
<_< I only saw Leon once in 2000 in a concert w/ Vicki Zhao. I forgot what kind of songs already...fast & slow & 1 mandarin song. Lot of ABC fans speaking English. Lot of loud screaming + funny/rude commenting outgoing fans...

Too bad, I couldn't go last year he came to my city!!! Man, I cried for 2 nights cuz I couldn't go :(

My biggest dream & i hope it'll come true is that I can see a real good concert in HK...the overseas 1 can never compare to HK! The stage is smaller & the sound quality is cheaper. the thing SUPER is Leon...

at least he came to my city & i sorta was breathing in the same air he did  lol but n-e-way...some1 got me his autogragh...wish i could still see him up close tho  my dream ar

leonfantasy - April 26, 2003 04:07 AM (GMT)
Ah M, well, is Leon really said F.... & S....., that's so mean, even the word STUPID is mean...
I didn't go to the concert, so I have to ask, Is Leon gonna sits and sells his CDs after the concert, or is he gonna be in the back stage for the fans to takes picture with him or gets his autograph??????

And Mrs. Lai, I'm so jealous that you touch Leon shoulder, next time when I see him, I hope to hold his hand, or an hour hug, hehe.

Ah_M - April 26, 2003 05:12 PM (GMT)
he was only joking around! if you heard it, you would've thought it was funny, not mean at all. didn't hear about autograph siginings, meetings, etc. at the time but recently heard that only certain could meet him backstage so...don't really know :P.

crazyforleon - April 28, 2003 01:58 PM (GMT)
Hi Mrs. Lai,

I'm a new comer here. I've read your message.

Did you really see Leon's nipples when you were at his '98 concert? How close were you to him? Did you see his nipples clearly? Could you describe them in some detail? Shape/size... :P

It sounds a bit kinky but your message has actually made me horny... I've seen Leon's nipples on some photos(I can post some here but don't know how) but unfortunately never seen them face to face...

qhettocow - April 29, 2003 01:47 AM (GMT)
lolololol

I was lucky enough to FINALLY see Leon LIVE in Atlantic City on Thanksgiving 2002. Didn't get the best seats(mountaintop =( ), but it was all right. I still had an amazing time. Though, I had to leave 5 minutes before the show ended. I think he started out the night with "You Have To Learn How To Lie To Yourself" and the rest was history. As I expected, seats weren't full, but the fans were very passionate and I guess that's all that really matters. Die-heard fans = you gotta love them. There aren't many leon fans overseas in NYC, so it's good to see them. Leon came down to shook hands with people, but I was not exactly lucky enough. *tear* Digi cam ran out of batteries durin' the show which pissed the sh*t out of me. And I literally lost a few pounds just running around the place trying to get some good pictures. All in all, it was an awesome experience. Leon is SO much hotter in real life - as if it's even possible right guys? ;p He came with Rain Lee, but I wasn't paying much attention to her...so w.e. =) My wish is also to go to HK this summer so I can see Leon at the HK Coliseum....I want to be there for his final night!!!!

Ah_M - April 29, 2003 06:00 PM (GMT)
lol yet another camera disaster story!

oh crazyforleon's joined the board, welcome!
i've seen this girl on other forums and she REALLY gets excited over Leon's body!

crazyforleon - April 30, 2003 04:00 PM (GMT)
Hi Ah_M,

Thank you.

Actually, sometimes I think I'm a bit obsessed with Leon. I love him so much...handsome face, sweet voice, nice figure...

At the very beginning, I didn't know that Leon is so sexy. After seeing some photos of him at concerts, I've found that he looks extremely sexy in those see-thru' shirts, shirts with buttons undone.

I've seen Leon's '95, '97, '99 & '01 concerts in HK. They were great! By the way, though I bought the most expensive tickets, I was sitting 20+ rows away from the stage...far away from Leon.

I've got lots of Leon's photos(not only the sexy ones but also those of him in nice suits). Could you let me know how I can post them here so that I can share them with other Leon's fans here?

crazyforleon - April 30, 2003 04:11 PM (GMT)
Oh, just wanna add one more point.

I've been a Leon's fan since '94/'95(before I knew that he is so sexy). So, you're quite right that I get excited over his body but it's only one of the many reasons why I love him.

Actually, I love his acting, singing, handsome face, being charitable... almost everything but a bit upset with his being in a rather low profile these few years & his friendship with that bxtxh.

quadshock - May 1, 2003 01:14 AM (GMT)
welcome to the board...just don't mention his body too much b/c i'm male and i start to get uncomfortable and everything...anyways. i don't think he was as "mature" back then, because i'm sure he wouldn't swear at any of his concerts now. perhaps he didn't think swearing was such a big thing back then?

Ah_M - May 1, 2003 02:16 PM (GMT)
crazyforleon: you can upload pics here, http://imageserv.futurecube.net/upload.php?opt=ok and then just post the image links (i think they stay up for about 6 months then get deleted)

crazyforleon - May 1, 2003 03:10 PM (GMT)
Hi Ah_M,

Thanks a lot!

Let me share this nice photo with our dear Leon's fans here!

Ah_M - July 12, 2003 09:22 AM (GMT)
Guess who went to HK in 1997 for Xmas and got to see Leon in concert again? :D
But weird thing is, it was absolutely brilliant and yet I can't remember much of it - thank God for pirate VCD! (only in this case though :P)
This concert had it all; professional dancing, great singing, sexy costumes, warm atmosphere and a totally cute dance that Mark & Leon made up! Must admit, I wasn't with the best company; to my right - two 3 year old boys and 2 elder sisters who sat in their seats throughout the whole show and to my left - a couple who were practically vegetable-like (felt so awkward waving my glowstick and standing up to scream!) But they were singing along so guess they did enjoy the show :) The highlight of the show was definitely seeing Leon lying in a chair in his open-chest shirt (HOT! HOT! HOT!) while singing the sexy song Love Deeper (track 1 of IF) Man, needed several tissues to wipe my drool haha :P Second was the opening where Leon appears playing guitar in a suit (*gasp* looked so good!), this song sounded so much better live than on the CD and actually started to like it after finding out what song it was (track 4 of Leon's...) Was it seeing him wear that suit that hypnotised me into liking it? I dunno...:P Leon did especially well in the dancing and looked very pro, there were also some pretty cool remixes of I Was Born In Beijing and I Love You OK. Before the concert started, I wasn't too bothered about shaking Leon's hand but then when the time came, I got really annoyed coz our section was blocked off and no one could go down - argh! :( One more thing, I kept waving to him all night whenever he walked over to our side and finally he looked my way, then I literally froze in my seat – always thought his electric eyes were an exaggeration! :D Sorry if the above bored you! Check out the photos that we managed to take (yeah, rubbishy camera again!):

leonfantasy - July 12, 2003 01:38 PM (GMT)
lol  , so you didn't get a chance to shake Leon's hand, If I at the concert, I'll be scream my head out.

seeing Leon shake hand with fans, while I (we) , watching on VCD, I feel so jealous <_<

Sandra - July 12, 2003 08:44 PM (GMT)
Just reading your reviews make me happy. I am going to work hard at getting to one of his concerts. Thanks for sharing, Ah M and everyone.

Fan - October 10, 2003 05:48 AM (GMT)
I have been to 2 Leon concerts. I went to LEON LIVE IS LIVE 2002 in HK n the other one is in Malaysia in year 2000.

I prefer the HK one,coz he sang more old songs. somemore Leon's best fren MARK LUI was there!

Sitting beside me were a group of old people. HAHA so surprise. I think they are around 50-60 years old. They seemed more energetic than me. Holding flash n waving hands... I feel proud for LEON haha...

I got some pics but quality isnt so good.

Anyway I recommend fans to go for a HK CONCERT rather than outside HK. Feeling is different. Try it n you will know. Bring your bf or gf along.

quadshock - October 20, 2003 07:04 AM (GMT)
:( i'll have ot wait till like...when i'm 26 and can save up enough money for a plane ticket. but it would be worth the wait, i'm sure ^ ^

leonfantasy - October 21, 2003 08:08 PM (GMT)
me too, quadshock. have to wait till i'm work
But i'm thinking of going to Leon concert next year, (If I work), But if you guys said that Leon concert in Hongkong, then i would rather put my money in HongKong concert.

leonfantasy - October 21, 2003 10:57 PM (GMT)
Do they let you bring the camera inside???

Mrs Lai - October 24, 2003 06:26 AM (GMT)
Ah M... I hope you're not still using the same camera.. :P

If you are... check out the Sony and Canon digital cameras... pretty good... :D

Ah_M - October 24, 2003 10:36 AM (GMT)
haha, sadly it is no longer with us...that was my sister's first aps camera, no zoom or anything so hence the bad quality. but he's still pretty hot, no? :D

Fan - October 27, 2003 05:33 PM (GMT)
Cameras are not allowed.
If staffs will check while entering the hall, if found they will take out batteries.

what Most ppl did is by putting a camera into a girl's bag. THey wont check girl's bag.

leonfantasy - October 28, 2003 02:42 AM (GMT)
We could hide the camera in the Flower and take it out at the concert, keke. Do they sell anything in th concert, like light stick, photo.
Is there any other way to get his autograph after the concert or before the concert. Do we have space to take pictures with him??

GaV - October 28, 2003 02:49 AM (GMT)
Camera's are not allowed?
we talking about vid camera's right?

well if they only take the battery...its not hard bringing an extra and hiding it :P
and they dont check the girls bags?? how come?

leonfantasy - October 28, 2003 03:09 AM (GMT)
I think we talked about the Film camera. But why d on't they let us bring the camera in. There's no harm. Is it a law?

Ah_M - October 28, 2003 10:23 AM (GMT)
maybe they don't want you selling the pics afterwards or it interferes with technical equipment. it's different for each venue, some are more strict than others.
if you're talking about hk, they sold all the lightsticks, binoculars and stuff just outside the coliseum when i went for the '97 concert and then there were photos for sale afterwards in the nearby mtr station (probably unoffical ones but it was impossible to buy anything - tiny stall and hundreds of people trying to see!)

leonfantasy - October 29, 2003 12:57 AM (GMT)
Anydoby had picture taking with Leon want to share??
