Title: A Fan's Report of the Charity Concert

Sandra - September 17, 2003 03:23 AM (GMT)
At around 6:30 pm, I arrived at the Coliseum. A big group of fans have already been waiting patiently for a while. All sweaty and sticky, the fans were waiting for the person who has not performed for awhile. The ticket stated 7.15 pm as the starting time, but you could see that up till 7.30, we are still waiting to be admitted. We didn't mind but resolutely wait for Prince Leon's arrival.

Gradually, the crowd increased. While we were discussing which songs Leon would sing, someone from afar screamed that Leon's car was coming through on the right side. Naturally we all yelled, "Leon, Leon, Leon". A black van with licence plate LA166 . We saw the most fabulous dark shape. Who else could it be but Leon ? Leon finally got off the car. Whoa. It's a plait shirt. Everyone screamed even more. Leon turned around to wave at the crowd. Unfortunately he quickly turned around and headed to the backstage.

Everyone quickly entered the Coliseum. The ushers smiled and said, "Leon must have arrived." My friend and I could not help feeling happy about it.

On entry, the only thing we saw was two blocks of Leon fans. Almost everyone was in red. And some were putting on red shirt on. The red group wielded their light stick. Korean fans had a lit flag. Everyone were in ready mode. In front of Leon fans, it must be Jei Jei's fans but they occupied only a few rows and it was difficult to identify them. Above us were also some Leon fans. While they didn't wear red, they had a small green "LEON" sign. Opposite to us were also some fans with a red "LEON" sign.

After the emcee finished the announcements, Leon still has not appeared. The emcee asked whose fans are here, and of course we screamed. The music for CAN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU came on. Nobody was enthused. It was not until almost at the end of the song that Leon finally surfaced from the elevated stage. "Wa !" Someone screamed from behind. " How did he get so young ?" He sang WOULD YOU COME TONIGHT. Everyone was waving their red light sticks. Followed by I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, which everyone sang along. It reminded me of his concerts - very moving. But the old lady next to me kept saying, " Listen to him sing". Next he sang SORRY I LOVE YOU. Wow, I have not heard Leon sing that song for ages. My head was swimming by now and I didn't even realize he has finished the song and was on to DEEP LOVE. I was still in a dream.

The time passed too quickly. Leon's shadow faded amidst the pyrotechnics. Everyone kept yelling "Leon, Leon, Leon" but he did not slow his steps. Almost 80% of the Leon fans dashed out. The rest of the audience was quite stupefied by us but we didn't care. We rushed towards the yellow gate. Leon's van was coming through. Everyone was afraid that the view would be blocked and everyone shouted, "a bit more, a bit more, a bit more" (meaning asking the van to move over to our side a bit more). Leon came out very soon . His tall figure and his plait shirt, he is so cool. Unfortunately, once more he hopped onto the van. He did not stop waving to us. His little window was not closed. When the van arrived at the gate of the parking lot, the fans swarmed over. Security guards were shouting at the top of his lungs, "Be careful. Make way. Dangerous." The fans did not mind his words but thrusted letters and little presents through the little window to Leon. Some did not care about anything but grapped onto the van's front like an octopus. Some hanged onto the side of the van and refused to budge. Security guard kept on warding off the fans but to no avail. Finally, Leon closed the little window. The fans passion did not recede. They continued staying close to the van, even when it is already in the middle of the road. There were cars next to his van. The fans couldn't care less. They kept rushing forward chasing after the van. There were vans, buses, taxis, streaming past the fans. It was definitely dangerous. Leon's van was caught among a few vehicles and the fans were delighted because they could see more of - Leon's van. The fans chased Leon, the security guards chased the fans. Finally the taxi in the front moved ahead and LA166 finally made its escape.

I am still in the midst of a dream. If I miss anything, please fill in.
