I don't know how many of you are actually from Hong Kong but when I was growing up and dating back then back there, I truly have met many incredibly MCP (male chauvinistic pig) who think women has to fuss over them and do everything for them. Made dinner dates, cook them dinners, run errands, be a dutiful wife, have children and still go to work.....yikes
That's probably why I liked this movie so much. Leon Lai played the perfect MCP at the beginning. I knocked myself over laughing so hard when he had to kneel down to Sammi Cheng and his pained expression. It is so absolutely hilarious because a real MCP would never do that. But he was so endearing.
I love the parts where he had to face Sammi with semi-truths about his being gay and had to kiss Ho Bao Dan. I loved the every word he had to slowly stumble over.... his massage parts, his getting mesmerized by her when she was practising her dance steps. I would too if it was me. I think Sammi is the most natural and refreshing actress at the moment.
(I happened to have watched Tony Leung and Miriam Yeung last night in The Lucky Stars and I think Miriam Yeung copies her intonations and expressions...or has Miriam Yeung always been like that anyway. Definitely a movie to avoid even if you are a Tony Leung fan. :( )
The best of course was when they were at the restaurant doing the try outs of scenes and he was about to tell her the truth and said too bad Sammi didn't date. Sweet, sweet, sweet.
The funniest part was when he exposed his fan T-shirt. I want to get Leon Lai fan T-shirt one day too.
I read a gossip column somewhere that said that he passionately kissed Sammi in this movie as opposed to the fake kiss to say Ho Bao Dan. Lucky Sammi.
I better stop before you guys think I am crazy (as a wife).
A lot of critics attacked the movie and insulted it incredibly. I, on the other hand, loved every minute of it! Even though it was a cheap knock off of Hollywood's The Bodyguard, it was done quite well! Leon and Sammi make a great couple! They look cuter together than Sammi does with Andy(I don't see what the fuss is about). Thats why when I heard they were doing a movie together again, I was so happy!
Oh really? What did they say? I've only read a few online reviews but they don't make it sound too bad. I love this movie! It's got an interesting and funny storyline and is well presented on-screen and there is not one bit that I need to fast-forward (well apart from the scenes with just the crazy fan)
I like the bit where he knocks into a pillar while listening to Ho Bao Daan plus Leon looks rather nice in uniform! The out-takes are hilarious; how cute did he look when laughing at himself for messing up that bit when showing his fan T-shirt?
